1. Thanks very much! Pity the stage was so cramped over my side.
2. Oh and the question on everyones lips........ the LED's are pink!
3. Tom at Cog has been tinkering away at a custom build for me which I can happily say have been finished and delivered! The pedal is a combination of his Darklighter OD, a Lovetone Brown Source clone and a Hao Rust Driver. I haven't had an opportunity to use it in anger yet but initial house volume tests reveal it's quite the beast covering all the bases from low gain, boost and ballsy drive. Tom has been an absolute delight to work with and his attention to detail and person focused approach speaks volumes. Cost wise this pedal was really competitive when you think it's a hand wired, 3-in-1b box and cost less than many boutique single function pedal. If you have an idea for a custom build or a mod to an existing pedal give this man a call and see what he can do for ya! Tell him Gav sent ya A link to the pedal is here: http://www.cogeffect.../tituspullo.php Go check out Tom's gear and he has some new pedals in development. I know some forum users such as Shep have had Tom build them some gear! Thanks for reading!
4. Tried one of these just yesterday and they sound fantastic - both pick ups engaged is such a great tone on these bad boys! Best of luck!
5. NickyTheAfghan Tom is building me a box at the minute and should be ready in a week or so! I've a feeling it's gonna be MEGA! Using his OD circuit along with a couple of things I'm after that I use or have used in the past. Great guy to work with and my guitarist is about to pull the trigger on a pedal too. I'll post more info when its delivered!
6. My buddy has a Bassman 100 combo, one of the newer little fellows. He has been reporting a fault with it, basically a crackling sound which he thinks is from the tweeter. Has anyone else experienced this issue with these amps and does it sound like a simple repair? I'm not usually one to hunt down fixer amps but this seems like a decent wee amp for little money if the repair isn't too costly. Cheers for any help. Oh and I'm gonna try and get my hands on it next week so I'll try and get an audio sample!
7. This bass is delicious and alas after many schemes to sell gear over the last few weeks I cannot afford to keep her. Sounds wonderful and the neck is soooooo smooth!
8. Fender Squier VM telecaster special is a fun bass to play and worth a look
9. Titus Pullo are playing this rather wonderful Edinburgh venue next week having come out of a studio-based hibernation over the Winter. Catchy tunes aplenty and some tasty vocal harmonies are only half the story. If you make it be sure to come by and say hello - I'll be playing bass for Titus! It's a bit of a special night as the other act, In Mirrors, will be recording a live album (audio and video) of all new material. Fixing to be a great night so dress up pretty and swing by! There will be an 'after show party' in Bannermans cause its right next door and we rather enjoy the craic in there! Word!
10. If McNash get's it to Edinburgh I'll happily play it on a set or two!
11. I recently tried some new valves in my valve pre amp. The 12AX7's were just too hot and didn't give a pleasing tone but the 12AU7 was rhe perfect fit. I run my 'gain' at 3 o'clock and its just the right amount of 'fullness' to the signal without clipping. I'm not playing a Mesa head but you will get a difference if you try a less hot tube....just keep a fire extinguisher handy
12. Why does £299 look so much more appealing than £300! bump
13. My approach to playing is the same in both my originals and covers band. I have a song structure to follow and a bass line to play which I can embellish here and there with fills etc but MY opinion is that my role as a bass player is to support the song/band. In my originals band I try and write a bass part which at best enhances the song or at least fits the song, a skill I learned from playing covers and listening to my fellow band mates as well as recording of other bands/players. I've played my own songs more in the last 6 months than anyone other tunes so I'm basically covering myself at every practice and gig! Cutting to the chase my point is with playing live, as long as the punters (and the band are enjoying it), it doesn't matter who wrote the song in the first place as you'll likely have already played it 100's of times be it a cover or original. I enjoy the money from gigging covers and the reception from an appreciative crowd, especially if it's our own material. I wouldn't give up my originals band to play covers exclusively or vice versa and fortunately I don't have to
14. Gavin bought a pedal - smooth deal and a pleasure to deal with
15. Mark bought a bass from me just last week and I can say with confidence the whole process was a pleasure! Mark was clear and prompt with his comm's and was prompt with his payment which is the bit you all want to know Hope you enjoy the bass as much as I have!
16. The m80 is us top unit. The drive is 'modern' but the basic clean mode is great. The difference with the cour switch is noticeable in a good way. I'm using one in a covers band and it gives me 2 usable bass tones in the clean channel one classic one modern just brith that switch. Having a clean blended drive is nice too. Worth a look I'd say.
17. Got the short verion of the Mono GS1 but it's juuussst about 3 inches too high for what I'm used to using. Happy to trade for the long version. PM me if you're keen
18. Gigging with a three piece 'rock/punk' band (all our own stuff) a while back the sound guy compliments my tone saying thats the way a bass should sound (P bass/Chromes). The headline band who weren't punk but a modern kinda 'cool' band had the worst, clankiest bass tone anyone in the room had heard and made me realise why I got props from the sound guy! I use flats for everything but sometimes the bite from round wounds can't be beaten as I'm discovering with some down tuned covers stuff I'm playing at the minute.
19. Ill be up to get a look at this if you're about tomorrow?
20. Always fancied one of these too. Too rich for my pockets
21. My old bass and its a cracker! The neck and pick up on this are absolutely fab! The Dirnt bass uses a Fender Custom Shop '59 pick up and it has a bad ass bridge fitted too! I would urge those who have any interest to give this bass a test run. You'll love it!
