Fender have a lot of variations of a couple of great models within a range of prices. I recall playing a killer Squire VM with a USA pick up in it and that bass sounded better than the USA bass the pick up came out of. The combination of body wood and pick ups does make a difference and you wont know until you try one out. I currently play a Mike Dirnt which I bough unseen but knew it had extensive work done to the neck (£100+) before I got it and it feels and sounds immense - meaty neck, custom shop pick up which actually takes the tones from Punk to Country with some help from the tone pot! It has classic looks and built like a tank. Plus you wouldn't know its a 'signature' bass which is the best bit The beauty of Fenders is there are so many out there on BC, ebay etc etc you can whack in replacement pick ups higher quality pot's and jacks, different cap's. Find one you like the feel of and then modify it to find your sound if it's not there already. I'm sure some local BC'ers would be happy for you to have a go on their Fender to let you have an idea of feel and sound. If you were local to me you'd be more than welcome

Hey Up for grabs is a JC semi hollow in gold sparkle finish. Currently using this bass for some jamming with a singer and guitarist doing the acoustic thing but as cash is neeeded I can let her go to a new home. This bass does the precision sound thanks to a custom made Electra pick up which sits right in the 'P bass sweet spot'. By having a 3 way mid switch you can voice the bass to suit the gig, anything from jazz, bluegrass and reggae vibes to the more classic power trio sound. As you can guess the JC is right at home for the blues too. The neck on these basses feels great and has that familar shape and feel without ever feeling bulky. I'm looking to get £425 for this which will include shipping and the brand new Gator case. Id trade for a Reggie Hamilton P/J or other P/J's considered with cash adjustment from me for the right wagon! Pic's to follow............

Anyone tried either with bass? I understand they have 'active' tone controls so you can cut/boost bass which might be useful. Thanks

Original Demeter F.O.D drive with switchable mid boost. Standard vol, tone and drive along with independent vol and footswitch for the boost. It comes in a custom 'blood splatter' finish and looks suitably menacing This is a mild drive and combined with the boost makes a great addition to any rig. The mid hump really lets the bass jump out. I used this for recording recently but since have bought 2 Wren & Cuff pedals which, for me and my current band sound, are untouchable. It's £100 posted and pic's will appear as soon as I nip off and get them. Also available since the W&C goodies are a Custom Fuzz in a DOD Grunge pedal casing. Its a compressed, bass heavy, filthy tone that wil get you heard. Ideal in a three piece and never lacking in the bottom - this bad boy is pure Huuuh! £50 posted and a life of bottom heavy abuse promised! Get in touch and feel the heavy!

NOT GREAT NEW BASS DAY - EBMM Ray HH Matching Headstock

Gareth IIRC you have a Big Al which shares the Bongo EQ so I'm sure you know to expect. As long as the build quality is up to scratch I'm sure you'll be very happy. Good Luck fella! -
I've got one in my four string - it's a good pickup but I don't think there's anything magical about it. I wonder if I should eBay it for silly money while they're still scarce!
Ooh and your an Ed'burgh local. What bass is it in - Semi or P bass and when can one go see you play live to check it out? G

I played one of these elusive beasts the other day in a local shop and was really impressed by pretty much all aspects of the bass. The neck felt great (think it's a 60's profile Jazz 'C') the pick -ups (US Fender-made) were spot on. The eq had a wide range of tones available and didn't introduce a huge volume jump (that was noticeable at the volume I was playing). My only suggestion would be a stacked vol/vol and add a passive tone control but not everyone might feel thats necessary. All in all a great bass with classic tones which are only enhanced by the EQ. i initially thought that Fender got a bad rap for their EQ but this one was top notch to my ears. Which leads me to a question for Fender.... Why in all their wisdom don't Fender introduce a standard P/J to their line up - one in a jazz body shape, one in a P bass body shape. All their current 'new' basses come so close and if they can do a Jaguar in P/J then there is no excuse really, especially if their recent pawn shop series is anything to go by. Whats the most common mod that people would have made back i the day? Surely a P/J with a Badass or P with Jazz neck. The recent 70's P with maple neck and inlays (one they never actually made in the 70's was crying out for a jazz p/u. Oh well!

Hey guys! I've added a track - it was for a 'punk' band. They sent the guitar/drum track before we jammed and asked I send back a sample bass line so they could weed out those who couldn't be arse'd putting in any effort or couldn't play. I'm not sure I ticked either box but I thought I'd play busy - it was a punk gig after all The quality is poor but I hope you enjoy! PPB is great! Not got bags of control but what it does it does well. I think the musket fuzz has been recommendedas a versatile big muff alike but not got a clean blend. I may have some recently recorded bass and PPB audio coming back my way after a recent recording folly. If you're up near Edinburgh you're welcome to pop in for a cuppa and try it out. I got mine direct from USA within 3 wks or so. G

OK so having recently got a A/B pedal here's my 0.02p's worth Draw out a diagram with the loops you need. If you need both loops on at the same time I'm not sure the LS-2 is for you as I'll presume you can only have A or B or off at any one time. I have a an A/B with on/off switch and use it with a fuzz in loop A and a boost and overdrive (both on) in loop B so ... Loop off = clean signal (with tuner connected before the pedalboard) Loop A - boost and o/drive (sometimes I'll switch the individual drive on or off depending on the part by leaving the loop engaged and just stomping on the individual pedals Loop B is fuzz only. As you can see a simple set up and pretty easy to figure out but it prevents the need to tap dance switch two pedals off and another one on simutaneously! It looks like your running: bass>tuner>LS-2>loop1>VTBD>loop 2>amp so that you can run a either loop with the VTBD which would be placed in line after loop 1 but not both loops together with the VTBD. I may have confused that but Im bored on night shift and my brain is getting tired! Lehle have some good loop pedals that may suit your needs. Good luck
