We have two singers to choose from depending on availability etc. and they do a few songs in different keys to each other. I just play the songs in their respective keys. Playing a 5 string was handy for changing keys as it just meant moving the root about but maybe not for tunes with a heap of open strings in the original key before needing transposed but in all my years gigging I’ve never considered using a capo live and I’d imagine few of us have. As for tuning more often as a positive trade off for using a capo I think that’s a bit of a stretch 😀

I was asked years ago at a rehearsal for a new band if I wanted to grab a capo for the next song. I reminded them I was a bass player and they said the previous guy used one. I still all these years later don’t know why he needed a capo to play that song. I get some folk use them on certain strings for solo work but I’ve never felt the need on a regular gig.

Johnny Lee Long has a good video on you tube using an audere preamp with Bart’s (in a Ken Smith I think) and it’s interesting in how it sounds both in terms of operation and tones but they don’t ship outside the USA.

Yet Another "how do I get this synth sound?" Thread

I had to learn Ain’t Nobody for a dep gig I was asked to do and just played it on a clean bass tone. Maybe a bit of comp and light dirt but didn’t need the synth to make it work. Depends how close you want/need to recreate the sound. It’s a fun bass part. I recall playing it in drop d. -

only left feet unfortunately

What a bummer. I’d be getting right onto Fender U.K. and Andertons via social media too. I ordered some shoes and they arrived on Saturday and they literally sent two left feet and when I get them sent back I’ll be making a note to say that the person who initialled that the order was checked might need a sit down and a quick chat about how feet work! Now maybe Andertons never had it out of the box so missed trhe fault or it’s taken a hit during transit but it’s shocking that a near 2k piece of gear can be this far off the mark.

A little box for snacks?

A few more items for the chop! All prices include recorded postage in the U.K. only. SGFX Beta £100 Boxed incl p&P U.K. A classic, instant old school pedal adding beef in the lows. It can be a preamp with the gain rolled off or add in stank/drive. Many players seek tube amps for this type of sound - save your back and wallet! Stick some flats on and make your bass a soul machine! Hope to buy the new MkV version as it’s finally released!! But one out one in applies! SGFX FunkLite £90 boxed **SOLD** **Sold** LBA 2020s £100 boxed Basswitch Enhanced OD £130 boxed incl p&p U.K. I have mixed feelings about shifting this too but not getting so much use as I’m all low gain or clean tones right now for my gigs. If I was playing heavier music especially in a trio this would be the bomb but not on a pub gig doing 9 to 5 and Dirty Old Town!! The last pic is to show I really do have three 2020s units 😀

C’mon in the water’s lovely!

I’d like to play one. It’s never really gonna be enough live like most low power bass amps but it’d be fun. I’d rather play a mesa bassbuster200 into a couple of 12’s but yeah I might go to Glasgow and give it a whirl.

Bunion bought a comp from me and I’d happily deal with him again. The joy of basschat is you get to deal with decent people who care as much about the community as you do.

This fine upstanding citizen bought a pedal from me and I eventually got it to him and he was as patient as a Saint. Enjoy the pedal 👍🏼

Just adding that we’ve done deals in the past and I’d be very happy to do so again. (Just saw I’d had feedback and not sure I’d updated on here)!

If memory serves correct I recorded this album with this head and a Mesa walkabout 112 cab. The recording was certainly the di out of the amp and possibly the cab blended too. In fact all our stuff was recorded and played with this head/cab combo. I had little to do with things once it was recorded so don’t know what else was done post but I loved the head. Always delivered live and it was my only rig for a few years. https://tituspullo.bandcamp.com/album/regardless-of-how-it-appears -
