  1. It was me who asked for a track or two as it would have helped me make sense of "+2 db gain stage" and "55/45 mix" etc. etc. of something else. It's not a criticism just some of us work better with sounds or visuals rather than verbose posts which kinda lose meaning 7 or 8 paragraphs in. I wasn't asking to dictate the conversation and if I'm being honest its a pretty fair question, it might even have made sense to post a picture of the pedal board(s) too to contextualize things. I'm happy to post links to some of my music... but it's likely just gonna be me stumbling through an arrangement on either a p or j bass with zero effects
  2. As has been said often at the price points these go for it’d be replacing great cab for great cab. I’m not sure what the berg would offer over and above the tecamp. What was your take on the berg on a gig compared to the F112 or the BF? If the 212 has been the sound your like haven’t you sold off about 4 of them to go for the lightest option? I think this was covered on another “what’s the best cab between X and Y” and the winner was cab Z simply because it was the lightest!
  3. I like tone. I’ve been in bands were there’s been real consideration of frequencies and tones so instruments complimented each other. It was a very real part of the band’s rehearsal. Ultimately it all went to sh*t at gigs because we had no real control over our sound. I remember soundchecking in a room and every time I hit a G on the E string something in the room vibrated. The sound man asked if I needed to play that note I suggested he start to notch out the eq at 100, 200 400, 800 etc until he fixed the troublesome vibration and if it didn’t work I’d offer some alternative frequencies to try. Knowing about frequencies and tones is helpful to make sure we eliminate feedback of gaps in a sound. My point is we all cared about the overall sound. Most players do - we all want to sound ‘good’ to our ears. I don’t think anyone would question the enthusiasm and passion many BC’ers have over their gear and tone and I’m sure for some genres of music all the effects create sounds and soundscapes which are greater than the sum of their parts. Seriously one or two sound clips would be really useful if you wish to share ‘your tone’
  4. Its not a Tecamp but the important info is it’s over 15kg and doesn’t go low enough for a 5 string 😀
  5. Yeah old fashioned power sections in them both so not really heavy but not lightweight - maybe 14kg?
  6. The cab and my amps. I find that the cab works equally well with both heads. One has a tube preamp with vintage fender tone stack on one side with a second dedicated tube overdrive channel (with a blend between the two channels) on the other. It’s got some neat options - a semi para eq and room balance (tilt eq). Most of these features are switchable on/off from the amps footswitch. The other head the top one has a very clean, quick pre with 3 band semi para eq. It's been likened to the Tunderfunk in terms of its overall voice/features so definitely a clean powerhouse! Both use the same power sections but one is lower output 600w and the other is full 1200w. From memory the cab is rated at 600w 4ohm.
  7. I should add I only say this as I've said on a few threads (like the synth ones) I'd love to hear some of the sounds people describe in context. A synth sound or a dirt sound isolated is one thing but to hear sounds in context makes far more sense. I know what a lot if the gear mentioned is and does but reading a pedal list with settings doesn't really help me create a sonicscape - maybe I just don't have the imagination!
  8. Yup big 212 fan - it’s the same cab I’ve been using these last 8yrs or so, so no changes since we last talked about our back line. The 112 doesn’t see too much action since quitting the country gig as it was handy for the smaller stages but I packed that gig in right before lockdown in a rare moment of foresight - I should really have been burnt as a witch!
  9. One says more FRFR than the other says less FRFR than... The joy of gear eh! 😀 FWIW I love a 212 cab- mine is quick and responsive and seems to enjoy getting fed more watts. It just feels like it can keep going and while my single 8ohm 112 is a capable one box solution a 212 really stands out as being bigger and better. Just something great about 212’s. Have you pulled the trigger or still deliberating? I don’t think the few kG’s lighter would sway me to change but I’m sure they’re decent cabs. Probably a fuller sound in the non slim configuration but vim only basing that on my 212M compared to its 212S counterpart.
  10. You thinking of getting some GR gear @Al Krow? The heads remind me a little of the Tecamp/Eich school of clean neutral power. The cabs seem to be a great combination of light weight and power. Impressive!
  11. TB seems to be down this morning maybe just maintenance?
  12. Yup my bad 😀 That’s the thing with set my ups there’s a bunch of interlinked factors at play.
  13. Whereas I was asking for a bit more detail - an unfretted note shouldn’t buzz or rattle so in theory an open string could be set much lower than a fretted note on the same string but that’s not the best guide when one starts to play! @MirrorMan do you have experience setting up your basses or do you normally get it done by a tech? I only ask as I’ve sent an e book to a few folk with loads of info on set up and it comes with some gauges which can be printed and templates made on old cereal boxes or thin card. It’s written by luthier Jerzy Drozd - I think I’ve sent you a copy ages ago @Al Krow? Happy to send it on @MirrorMan if you think it’ll be useful and if anyone else fancies a copy just get in touch. *I found the link on his site https://www.jerzydrozdbasses.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-the-perfect-bass-guitar-setup
  14. Do you mean with the string fretted at the last fret or the unfretted height?
  15. Way back when I was playing more guitar this was on my radar too.
  16. The naughty filter must be flipped! *no it’s still working.
  17. For clarity I’m not putting a pre in my bass. I use a Basswitch or my Stomp.
  18. This months Bass frontiers or one of those online bass publications oh I forget which one it is now has a review of the Uni preamp.
  19. The guy on that second track sounds like a right creep!
  20. For BB1600 fans check out Nalle Påhlsson on the latest Low Down society podcast with a lot of audio clips of the man doing his BB/pick style thing! https://thelowdownsociety.podbean.com
