  1. One says more FRFR than the other says less FRFR than... The joy of gear eh! 😀 FWIW I love a 212 cab- mine is quick and responsive and seems to enjoy getting fed more watts. It just feels like it can keep going and while my single 8ohm 112 is a capable one box solution a 212 really stands out as being bigger and better. Just something great about 212’s. Have you pulled the trigger or still deliberating? I don’t think the few kG’s lighter would sway me to change but I’m sure they’re decent cabs. Probably a fuller sound in the non slim configuration but vim only basing that on my 212M compared to its 212S counterpart.
  2. You thinking of getting some GR gear @Al Krow? The heads remind me a little of the Tecamp/Eich school of clean neutral power. The cabs seem to be a great combination of light weight and power. Impressive!
  3. TB seems to be down this morning maybe just maintenance?
  4. 2024! Snap it up!
  5. *slow clap*
  6. Yup my bad 😀 That’s the thing with set my ups there’s a bunch of interlinked factors at play.
  7. Whereas I was asking for a bit more detail - an unfretted note shouldn’t buzz or rattle so in theory an open string could be set much lower than a fretted note on the same string but that’s not the best guide when one starts to play! @MirrorMan do you have experience setting up your basses or do you normally get it done by a tech? I only ask as I’ve sent an e book to a few folk with loads of info on set up and it comes with some gauges which can be printed and templates made on old cereal boxes or thin card. It’s written by luthier Jerzy Drozd - I think I’ve sent you a copy ages ago @Al Krow? Happy to send it on @MirrorMan if you think it’ll be useful and if anyone else fancies a copy just get in touch. *I found the link on his site https://www.jerzydrozdbasses.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-the-perfect-bass-guitar-setup
  8. Do you mean with the string fretted at the last fret or the unfretted height?
  9. Way back when I was playing more guitar this was on my radar too.
  10. The naughty filter must be flipped! *no it’s still working.
  11. For clarity I’m not putting a pre in my bass. I use a Basswitch or my Stomp.
  12. This months Bass frontiers or one of those online bass publications oh I forget which one it is now has a review of the Uni preamp.
  13. The guy on that second track sounds like a right creep!
  14. For BB1600 fans check out Nalle Påhlsson on the latest Low Down society podcast with a lot of audio clips of the man doing his BB/pick style thing! https://thelowdownsociety.podbean.com
  15. I did have a look but wasn’t sure if they did 4 ohms as special orders or if the older generations had the option of 4 or 8ohm.
  16. I’m still none the wiser if BF offer both 4 and 8 ohm alternatives on all their cabs. Some manufacturers do. It’s not an unreasonable question. I just took it for granted your 112’s were 4ohm or at least one of them was as you’ve talked a lot about your ‘900w at 4ohm’ - it’s no biggie just could be misleading for folk who were reading along. Actually it’s one of the reasons I was unsure if BF offered 4ohm versions of their 112 cabs as your statement implied (to me at least) you were getting 900w from the BB2/AO900 pairing. Most folk would discuss their gear in real terms - output etc. An example one of my amps is capable of 1200w but I don’t run it at 2ohm - I generally talk about it as an 800w at 4ohm head as that’s how I use it day to day. But you’re never taking two cabs to a gig 😀
  17. I have no experience of BF cabs so wouldny know. I do know my Tecamp is sold in an 8ohm or 4ohm version- I don't know if BF do this too...
  18. He might be meaning bypassing the amps eq section entirely as there will be ‘built in’ colouration even at flat’ -!whether it’s enough to notice on some amps more than others is a while other topic on what is ‘flat’ etc which have been done to death especially on TB. Ive used some tube pre amps years ago where the eq could be bypassed entirely and you we just getting bass>tubes>output. One unit in particular when used this way was unquestionably the best sound I’ve had on a bass.
  19. Yeah Lakland and Cort are the factory. Ignore me my bad 😀
  20. That headstock has a decidedly Lakland look to it. Are these made in the same factory? Be a cracking bass if it’s of that same Skyline quality!
  21. I wonder if it’s to do with how the mid range is voiced on the dug and if it just makes it more mix friendly?
  22. Long time legend. Chops and feel!
