  1. I believe the Sandberg pick ups are designed to compliment each other rather than offer a ‘dead on’ MM tone. Basically the same as the last paragraph above.

    @Al Krow perfect for you!
  3. My bad for asking about your cab! Let’s hope it’s not another 11 months before the next update/GAS attack. Carry on!
  4. Just suggesting that a 4ohm cab would get the most out of the majority of heads taking into account max power handling/cab rating etc etc.
  5. Maybe a 4ohm cab would be a better single cab solution? That way you’ll get the most out of any head you decided to get down the line. Lots of great deals out there too!
  6. The BB2 will be the gigging cab of choice?
  7. What cab would you be using because at 8ohms with a two speaker cab you’ll still get plenty of air moving. If the Fearless is 4ohm that could likely handle such a head with ease!
  8. It’s a lot of money but it really does blow all other units away. The ability to split the signal into four and even have them affecting various eq bands is mighty interesting. OTT for my needs but would be fun to see what it can do!
  9. *Warning non-Yamaha content* I like it how it turned out as is. A £250 paint job on top of new pick ups and then it all becomes folly! I can see some new dings and a run but for a £120 bass it sounds and feels as good as many other jazz basses out there for a lot more money.
  10. The front looks fine it's just got a few runs on the back but no one will see those. A sparkle flake in Sherwood Green would be fabulous and well worth the professional fee!
  11. Be great to get back out gigging with a refin - a proper sparkles job! I did a Sherwood Green on a cheapie jazz but it really could do with a proper paint. Shame a refin would be over twice the value of the bass! Still worth considering down the line.
  12. Be worth it for a snazzy banger!
  13. Makes me think of The Rev. Horton Heat!
  14. So many folks will be disappointed that these aren't the new colours for 2021. I'd be half tempted to get a bass refinished in that green. It really works on the 734 shape!
  15. Do a you tube search for Vulf compressor 😀
  16. I think most people who have commented are as keen to see the Covid crisis resolved as the next person but to only focus on rose tinted positives when there have been many missteps is a bit galling for some. Sure the glass is half full for those of us one financially comfortable enough to see it through. If on the other hand one is struggling with all the associated impacts of reduced wages, isolation, trying to entertain kids, manage bills, mortgage etc etc then it’s hard to think “I know life is shi8 just now but those lads in Oxford did well!” Maybe once it’s all over folks can look back and appreciate the human endeavour of developing a ‘quick vaccine’ but it’s maybe hard for many to not feel like they’re looking at a generational impact in terms of austerity, tax increases, job security and prospects for them, their kids and the long term educational impact on their children’s futures/employment opportunities etc. Again as has already been said we’re all keen to see positive outcomes but the long term impact has already begun. Still those lads in Oxford did well!
  17. There’s an Andy Irvine demo up where he plays these but it’s not always ideal listening online. The 51Split J’s are a nice set of pick ups but an overwound stacked 51 in a 51 style p might be closer to what you’re after? The splits are good and make a nice sounding neck pick up (and a good Jazz set). Solo’d I’m happy with the neck in that it puts a out a convincing P sound. To be fair it’s probably not that far removed from a solo’d jazz neck in saying that I nabbed this set to have that jazz sound and P sound coming from a jazz bass and fit’s the bill! I just A/B’d with my P bass (it’s a reverse p with flats so not like for like) but yeah the Split 51 does what you’d expect for a 51 pick up. Not very helpful but describing tone is such a subjective thing. I also have a HB 51 which has a Wilkinson pick up but I think there’s something not quite right with the wiring. The Split sounds fuller and more p like than the HB/Wilk but I’d really need to sort that out before making judgement.
  18. Maybe a little off topic but I put some Nordstrand split J’s in my CV Squier Jazz and they’re not bad at all. 51 style pick up in a jazz shells https://nordstrandaudio.com/collections/all/products/51-split-j-1
  19. OK
  20. Double post.
  21. I thought it was a digital pedal using some of the neural tech? and an audio interface as well as accessing the DG suite. Happy to be wrong! I thought the front end of your amp was the AO Ultra Pedal? Was that wrong too?
  22. It’ll be good to hear some other non-Nolly demos and see what drives are introduced with further updates.
  23. If you go back and check out a demo or read the overview you’ll see the full list of features and applications. It’s as much a bass recording interface/workstation and distortion device as it is a simple dirt pedal... an evolution of the pedal range and combining the Neural side of DG. This could be the next stage in the development of the DG range in terms of design and features. No the front end of your amp would be the AO Ultra pedal.
  24. , but lacking the preamp EQ. There’s a 6 band eq. It’s the black strips you can see along the middle of the pedal. I guess it mimics the sliders on their amps and pedals and touch controlled nifty!
