Yeah it was something I picked up in getting into more studio based stuff/eq geekdom. I had a Noble for a while and cutting the lows with the low cut switch but then boosting lows appeared to shift the cutoff bump and made for a really nice low end - certainly cutting but giving enough of a boost at the ‘new cutoff frequency’ point post shift to where it tamed but musical. @mcnach I’m not sure if you tried the Broughton HPF/LPF when I had it but this does appear to be a great refinement to what was already a useful pedal. I did loan it out to a few fellow BC’ers but not all of them were in a position to appreciate the function of the pedal back then inspite of becoming somewhat ‘expert’ since. Once we figure out these things they can be very useful tools especially the ‘soft knee minus three’ rule which is how I came to remember what the diagrams posted above were showing.

I’ve a Red Witch Zeus but it’s basically an oc2 circuit with clean blend (and the fuzz circuit of course) as far as I can hear it. The more sub you give it the more of that oc2 ‘synth/sub’ thing it does. I find it very pleasing and it does have the quirk/glitch as some octaves do it’s fun and full range (as a sub/fuzz) and integration with my stomp fx loop is bang on on both sides. Not sure if you’ve tried any of the red witch dual bass pedals but I’m guessing the sub side is the same on the factotum too. Worth a try!

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?

Yeah we’ve not seen and are unlikely to see any updates on potential transmission from vaccinated folk yet (and I understand it’s too early to expect any numbers at this stage). I know the advice at my work (NHS hospital site in Scotland) is not to assume that you’re O.K. and to continue to follow precautions etc. -
Yeah I only really mucked about on the TRBX in a shop but recall thinking that the switch was a neat idea. Sandberg have a similar thing in their Umbo model. I guess it never really took off or more manufacturers would have employed it!

I think there was some chat a while back that the Series 2 BB’s were appealing to many because they didn’t sound like Fender clones (or indeed put folk off because they were a hotter, more strident voice overall compared to their Fender counterpart! Folks whom loved the Series2 BB’s might not have been so keen on the Series 3 while more ‘Fender prone’ players might have saw the Series 3 as a refinement and a more traditionally voiced bass. As ever this may or may not be true for you! 😀 I played those TBX basses when they were released and while the look didn’t appeal I recall the selector switch being an interesting feature for ‘pre-set’ tone choices. I guess that it’s a nice gimmick and is basically some mid range trickery but if I recall it was only available in one of the model ranges.

Maybe you should edit the thread title ☹️ -
Check out Dodi’s albums he’s got some great tunes.

I’ve heard a demo or two from a new owner and the way the pedal retains clean/lows sounds like it’d really stand up and support a trio/ground the rhythm section.
-
Likely to create a sense of ‘space’ between the switches by staggering them rather than all being in line. Less chance of hitting two on by mistake?

If the lid closure is the deciding factor in getting one or not a sliding lid could be the final nail in the coffin for some.

While the banter is no doubt getting a little pointy the initial query and answer was... "I only used the Simple Pitch effect, and wanted a smaller footprint i.e. no heavy case to lug in. The Stomp also has that effect, but I’m not too blown away by it. I can’t just turn it on and off, I have to go from effect to another effect, or total Stomp bypass." “Obviously one of the nice features of HX Effects is that you can go into "pedal board" mode and treat a single patch as 6 six separate effects which you can switch on and off, each with it's own stomp switch and HX Stomp does not have the equivalent ability” This is not true. The guy could use the stomp in ‘pedal board’ mode (or let’s call it foot switch mode) and be fine with two assignable foot switches while keeping the tuner function. I looked, the stomp (actually) has three buttons all of which could be assigned to a effect on/off function. The option to reassign FS3 or add additional switches is always there if a user needs more but the Stomp is pretty decent considering it apparent limitations.

Pompous - affectedly grand, solemn, or self-important. "a pompous donkey who pretends he knows everything" Maybe you’d be better off apologising to your mate on behalf of all bass chat for misinforming him about what you thought his effects unit could or couldn’t do... but you weren’t to know. It’s not ‘well trodden ground’ it’s erroneous and an example of the Dunning-Kruger effect!

I’d say they have a certain clank which can be quite gratifying but it won’t sound like a P bass if that’s what the heart really wants. I’ve not tried a dual TB set up but from the demo’s I’ve heard of the the Lull PT4 it again I’d a very fun rocky sound brighter and with good cut. The demo linked below might give you some idea and there’s obviously the classic Thunderbird tone.. some of what you’ll hear in the demo is the tonestyler adding it’s magic too.

wonder the cost? I think the TB p/u's look great on it

I don’t like how they’ve used squiggles under the foot switches. How is anyone meant to understand what they do I mean who do they think they are? Barefaced? *ducks and hides*

Oh I did actually explain that it could be done

Apologies to your mate I though I'd posted my initial answer to the question with the explanation, how multiple effects could be assigned to one foot switch i.e. octave and filter etc... I can always go back and edit it in later. The basic operation of the unit was covered in that getting started sheet included in the box whihc is actually quite helpful... but from my earlier non-post... Firstly read the getting started guide, then the manual and if you're still struggling Press VIEW (or PAGE) until you see the fx block chain, scroll to the effect you wish to assign to the foot switch, 'touch' don't stomp the foot switch you wish to assign it to and confirm selection. Press VIEW (or PAGE) until it displays an effect name above each foot switch as in 'foot switch mode' and hey presto! The third switch defaults to the tap/tuner. Save the patch the normal way - you can fine tune to this so if you want that effect on as soon as you select the patch save it with the patch engaged. If not turn the effect off (by pressing clicking the foot switch, not touching it) then re-save and the effect will be assigned but not engaged until activated. @Al Krow feel free to refer your mate to this post *Edit* I’ve added a pic - it shows I have the compressor and a cab IR as switchable options. It’s quite clear on the unit which effects are assigned to each FS between the colour coding and the text on screen. You could set up a single FS to engage one effect while turning off another in a kinda A/B fashion too. It’s pretty intuitive once you understand the basic editing on the unit itself. I’m sure there’s You Tube videos demonstrating how to. I have two back ups one from before the software update to 2.92 and one before the 3.0 update but was advised by Line 6 to wipe everything L6 related off the laptop as there may have been an alias file somewhere on the HHD which was causing the 'glitch' and defaulting back to 2.92 as I mentioned previously. The update to 3.0.1 seems to have sorted that end of the mystery. I'm just working through getting them back on the HDD/Stomp as I've not really been at the laptop for 9-10 days due to my own shifts and covering at work (covid, assualts etc. you'll understand I'm sure) but have them on a memory stick. Always best to have a back up 'off the device' in my experience. I've never had to load them from the memory stick before but once I check the manual/You Tube I figure I'll be right! Fixed!

I have to laugh as I often wonder if you fully understand your kit - you’ve owned both these units, written extensively over multiple threads and read all the posts and are able to recall who’s said what! By now you surely have a grasp of the capabilities of these units which share the same core editing and processing - you’ve enough hours under the hood by now no?
-
Footswitch mode if he’s just using the stomp to active an effect like he would on the FX all he needs to do is assign it to a footswitch. Multiple effect can be assigned to one switch so he could have pitch and octave on one switch or any thing he wants. A link to the manual might be useful.

Yeah I did a save but think I eff’d it up a bit😀

@Al Krow you mentioned some synth setting/patches you had developed and liked either on here or the synth thread... I'd be keen to try them - I lost all my patches trying to update the other week and while they shouldn't be too hard to rebuild a few tried and tested patches would always be welcome and some info on the inspiration for or songs they work well on too would be really useful. SAme goes if anyone else has already posted a patch or two especially using the new features on the Stomp I'll be back to Dr Tone to tweak and work on his patches too as I had used his SVT as a building block on some of my patches too.

Well I guess he'd be the man to know all things considered but as I say reading the spec sheet for his bass and the for the 734/BBP34 they're identical from what I can see. It's not to say Yamaha didn't decide on the 1200 spec in designing the 700/BBP.

In other news after a long run of shifts I've had time to sit at my laptop again and I've successfully managed to update my Stomp and HX edit to 3.01.0. Looking forward to having a proper play now I've a few days off!
