Depends if you’re serious about trying a RP/J or just kicking tyres. There’s options out there which might be a step back in quality as you say but no less worth trying and they can always be shifted on for little ‘net loss’. Honestly grab a cheapie and do some diy and experimentation at home. It’s a lot of fun and with a Ki0g0n wiring loom you don’t even need to be able to solder. A fun way to satisfy curiosity for very little money.

Although not a Bb I have a p bass which allows me to have my p pick up in either the classic Fender sweet spot or a reverse P position. As it’s in the same bass using the same pick I can say up you get a little more fullness in the G and D and a tighter sound on the E and A. It’s not gonna go into jazz bass territory but it’s a nice tweak and on some basses with the right pick up it can just sweeten the bass in a way which eq or preamp can’t quite nail. As an aside It might be too subtle for some but if you can afford a cheapie bass get a local luthier (or even DIY it) to make a route to accommodate reverse p and experiment. A cheap HB bass would be an ideal candidate and it means you could experiment with pick ups and reversing them til your hearts content. Migh nab one of these Hooky BB’s and shift it on down the road. I think the 734 is a better looking model but for the prices these PHBB’s are fetching might be worth a punt!

It could just be the first production run is limited and if there’s demand they’ll do more. Not uncommon practice especially on a sig model. I think the JMJ basses were quite limited initially rather than producing 10,000 units kinda thing.

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?

Thank God I thought it was some sort of U.K. version of a Karen! -

Two weddings I’m guessing possibly of band members or close friends of the band😀... and remind me who/what are Cassandras? -
I like the colour but overall I’d prefer the black 734

The prices went daft on these in the used market. Well put together basses and likely pulled due to their high quality... ironically!

We’ve three per month for the whole year in one venue so far but it doesn’t mean anything. -

Maybe a rename to Masochist would be another great idea to consider too?

I think it was RATM!

On the right, the distortion channel: gain (triangle wave) to go from subtle overdrive to roaring distortion. Two band bass and treble EQ (shelving curves) Level (triangle) virtual true bypass switch to activate, with the red LED showing it’s on. In the middle, the fuzz channel: fuzz (square wave) to get more and more fuzztastic. Tilt (split scoop shape) left for thunder, right for fizz. Mid boost (hump shape) at zero for maximum muff, or go clockwise for added punch and snarl. Volume (triangle) and stomp as required, lighting the red LED. Finally, on the left, the clean channel: Level (sine wave). Roll off the highs and mids with the tone knob (low pass filter). This footswitch works differently to the other two. If neither fuzz or distortion is on, stomping the clean FS just lights the LED and means that you’ll have this low pass filtered clean sound running in parallel when you click on either dirty sound. If either dirty sound is already on then clicking the clean channel will add the filtered clean to the dirt - or take it away if it was already active.

Two gin channels- always a winner! Yeah my Broadcast was the two channel version.

Yeah I was always a fan of boost pedals. I really like the Hudson Broadcast for that transformer driven boost. Just makes things sound a bit more ‘3-D’

Hey @alexclaber looks like you’ve had a stinker of a day but you’ve inspired a new thread idea. I was thinking about a thread where people post openly and honestly about times they had a really bad day and said/did something which in hindsight appears a bit misguided. I dunno maybe you slapped the missus, slept with a work colleague or built a bass effect pedal and didn’t put words on it? Going by some posts on this thread there appears to be loads of folk who love to have their say and I’m confident they’ll all get the ball rolling with some proper cathartic sharing, no holes barred so we can endow some righteous outrage/judgement at their antics! I’ve got a few great symbols lined up to reply to the ones I really like! ❤️ 🐀 🔔🔚 🎽aka👰🥊

Always fancied a go on one - the original version not the mini.

Maybe the pedal will have an information sheet/manual explaining the knobs/symbols and what they do so people have the option to not read it before coming online to whinge about it.

I’m sure he’d be responsive to a message via the social media channels. As a paying customer he might offer some ideas

I’d hazard that most pro bassists are using the same gear as the rest of us. There are few pro’s using F bass, Fodera, Ken Smiths et al. Firstly these luthiers have a relatively low out put and they’re very prohibitive cost wise to be playing in the sort of bars I’ve seen many ‘pro’ bands in. Yer man from Soundgarden uses Mexican made Fenders, I’ve seen touring bands with Squires, Fenders even some Ibanez but I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen a band use the high end basses we often see come up on bc for 3k+. The exception is Pat from Extreme who used Mouradian basses but he did work for him way back in the day! I guess Spector and a few other brands such as Fender Custom Shop etc are pro gear... I’m sure pro guys own some of these furniture basses and enjoy them at home!

Yeah I might reinstall 2.92, try and update HX Edit then install 3.0. Seems like the logical solution.
-
Aye it’s not the most intuitive but glad you’ve got it sorted. Still can’t quite figure out what’s going on with the Mac version of HX Edit 3.0 download?!?!
-
Sorry didn’t mean to acknowledge you as part of that whole post I was just letting you know my usage before continuing on the discussion 🤙🏽 I've edited the earlier post to reflect this

Hi Stoo yeah the updating can be a tad unintuitive with the line 6 stuff as it would be better if every updated together but we struggle on. I have downloaded what L6 tells me is hx edit 3.0 but upon opening the file it’s 2.92. I have successfully updated the firmware and the hx edit is looking a tad lacking. None of the new features have appeared yet. I’m in no rush and can load my back up of 2.92 so no drama but still. As I mumble on guitar too it’s be nice to try the new Princeton as it is a fav amp (my old country band the guitarist used one- lovely amp)!

I’ve not been able to usage HX Edit from 2.92 -3.00.0 so can’t access the new stuff. Still working on it 🙄 each time I download the 3.00.0 version when I open the package it’s 2.92. I’ve raised it with Line 6. Im running Mac OS but haven’t updated to Big Sur as I have other stuff which won’t run until update patches are released. If anyone has HX Edit 3.0 for Mac and has successfully opened it feel Free to dm me and send me the package and I’ll try it!
