  1. You can send amp/cab sims to the pa while fx only to your amp etc Tbe I/O wtht eh Stomp is fab but you'll need to sit with the unit, the manual ir a tutorila video and work through it. You Tube is a the resource for this one. My advice is go hire a few hours in a rehearsal space which has a bass amp and a pA and set it up to suit. You can A/B amp v PA etc and you'll do so much more in this way then trying to grab an 20 min here and there. It worked for me having all the options/possibilities for how i might use it to try in one place. Download the manual and if you can bring a laptop/tablet and work along with you tube setting up patches, I/O options etc. It'll be time well spend!
  2. I’m gonna change my pick ups more for my own inquisitiveness but I’ll not be selling off the originals until I get a chance to A/B them listen to them and go with the ones which best suit me. The dance begins...
  3. double post
  4. Shame you weren’t in Edinburgh I’d have had a jam with you if you were needing a muso or two on guitar/bass though I’m a bit naff and far from a punk 🤓
  5. You could probably use your mac for the tracks and the ipad for lyrics. Anyone you know have any local connections for drummer who could jump in for you? Not sure how complex the drum tracks are but a decent drummer could likely learn them or mayeb ask one of the acts on the bill if the drummer would be up for it? I recall seeing a band in Edinburgh who were over from Australia and a local fan had arranged to drum for them on a gig. He was great and you wouldn't have known he wasn't in the band. PAF!
  6. HX FX owner now. Congrats!
  7. Black Raven do one for the Full fat Helix. It’s a full ‘cover’ like a clear plastic/acrylic overlay and for the LT too. Not sure about other sizes. Are you needing to just cover the screen/scribble strips or the whole unit and which unit are you covering.
  8. Good to know!
  9. Such a great bass and quality colour.
  10. Sherwood Green is a sleeper colour. You don’t think you like it but then you behold it’s beauty. Relic’d Sherwood is even better! Having had the neck off this is a 2008 model not that it makes a difference but it is playable. I also took the lacquer off the neck to suit me. Feels great!
  11. I’m actually happy with the bass as it sounds but it’s the lure that something else may be better but I’ll certainly not make any changes until the new year if I do go that route. I’ll just tell folks I’ve put in some unheard of esoteric brand and no one will be any the wiser. The green has turned out as hoped (phew) but I’ll likely need to touch it up. The back is a bit patchy but not overly concerned for now out of sight out of mind. pretty straightforward to do if anyone was thinking about it.
  12. Terrible picture but you get the idea.
  13. So I may have refinished the bass in Sherwood green...
  14. Yeah I’m not a massive fan of super zingy top end and since adding the new pots/loom the tone control is working as hoped. For me rolling tone back bit and a touch off the back pick up (5-10%) is enough to remove enough zing and colour the sound but still get that jazz thing if I dig in or need to throw the thumb at it for any reason
  15. I think the 60’s winds are meant to be quite open and some seem to have a nice bottom low mids thing. I’m pushing that freq area with a tone hammer but if I can get something voiced that way perfect. I’ve done a basic set up on the cv since getting it but haven’t changed pick up height. Gonna make some measurements before stripping the body for the respray so I’ll experiment then. Good call
  16. Yeah I'm still a bit torn over replacing the pick ups but it's early days yet. As I said it's a familiar sound of a jazz and the contrast to what I have is fun but listening to a few examples online - always a terrible idea - some are standing out as being a perceived improvement over what I have/what I'm after from this little gem. I had Model J's in my last jazz but I think I'd like this to be a bit more traditional. I'm unlikely to be solo'ing the bridge and like the 60's vibe over the 70's vibe. The Aguilar 60's wind and the Fender CS60's are working for my taste plus I've been strongly advised to try Creamery jazz pick up's. So much choice and I may find myself giving them all a shot at some point. I know total folly!
  17. All's well that ends well!
  18. The Narcissim of Small Differences... kinda Parkinsons Law...kinda A reactor SYNTH PEDAL is so vastly expensive and complicated that an average person cannot understand it, so one assumes that those who work on it understand it. On the other hand, everyone can visualize a cheap, simple bicycle shed MANUAL, so planning one can result in endless discussions because everyone involved wants to add a touch and show personal contribution.
  19. Nae harm pal!
  20. The 'Dusty Hil' is a standard 51 pick up shape - the Split 51 is in a jazz pick up format/case. Gotta give the people what they want!
  21. Another tip which might help for slapping especially on the more rhythmic stuff is learn/internalise the groove finger style first especially if grasping a certain technical aspect feels a bit tricky first off. Learn the basic feel then apply the techniques. If you can play along to an example finger style mimicing ghost notes/groove with the right hand then understanding and applying the right hand slap/pop techniques may come easier. Worked for me on some stuff and good way to separate the left and right hand parts when initially learning a new lick/groove.
  22. Where the song calls for it yeah. It's not often needed in the stuff we do but there are a couple of the tunes where I can get away with some disco octaves and a slap here or there if I fancy throwing it in. Learning some new covers for a dep gig and it works better in some of those tunes. I tend to do very limited slapping but i can if I need to kinda thing and will mess about more at home then on a gig. It's a very specific sounding technique and doesn't always work regardless of what we think! MarloweDK has some great slap tutorials too. Learning slap can be a little 'easier' on 4 string but at least it'll mean you're developing good muting technique on the 5'er - the low b can be a pain initially unless you work the example for the e string off the b.
  23. Look forward to hearing some live samples! You running this with a passive bass or one of your actives?
  24. Yeah I recall when this series was first released and people rightly got very excited. A very solid bass in it's own right. I'll be doing a refin on mine to Sherwood Green! Let's hope I don't F it up
  25. One of these might do a good 50's era P sound. https://nordstrandaudio.com/collections/4-string-jazz-bass-pickups/products/51-split-j-1
