1. FTW! I'll check it out, cheers.
2. Them boards look pretty cool. Any ideas on how to make them travel proof for in the van??
3. Yeah I've checked there, £100+ is a bit much really!
4. Hey everyone, I'm in dire need of a new pedal board and most the ones I can find on the internet are expensive and pretty flimsy looking. I was wondering if anybody's made their own and got any tips for me cuz I think it's the route I'm gonna end up taking!
5. Thanks mate, yeah I'm loving it. So easy to knock up little tunes as well
6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE_gGs5VBRs Heres a vid I just knocked up on Reaper!
7. Got it goin! Nice one
8. Sounds good!
9. Cheers! Will give that a go 2m
10. Just a quick one, I can import video into reaper but can't actually get it to play? I've opened the video window but it's just showing black. Anybody had this problem before?
11. Tips from the top! Nice one
12. Oh OK. Thanks again Bilbo!
13. Hey there, Working my way through SITSOM to try and get my sight reading up to scratch. On 'Uptight' - Stevie Wonder, the key signature is Db (five b's) but there's a few things puzzling me... First off there's only two chords - Db and Cb. I take it Cb is B, but why not just put B? Also the same thing but in the notation, there are Cb's written in, I take it this is for ease of reading but I'd find a B natural much easier to read! Can someone just clarify this for me or tell me I'm wrong?? Ta!
14. Found a can of WD-40, gave everything a blast with that. It's cleared it up a lot but there's still a small fizz with it. I think I can probably live with it though hehe
15. It's not loose so I'll give the cleaner a go, is this what I'm after? http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=switch+cleaner&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=2398432801051196791&sa=X&ei=bkmQT7rOPIqz8QPnxZyoBA&ved=0CHcQ8wIwAw
16. I play in a function band that does pretty similar stuff, rocked up gaga and katy perry etc. The only thing worrying me is the 2.5 hour drive... How much are the gigs paying? And is it expenses on top? Also I'm only free for about half the dates... On second thoughts it may not be the best idea haha. Anyway PM if you get really stuck!!!
17.
Hey barneyg42 - did you find out what the problem was in the end? I am thinking about buying a Pro fet IV so would appreciate seeing how you have got on with it since you bought it? Ta
I use the profet and have never had that problem but have always used it with WW cabs! Hope that helps!
18. Hey there, I'm having some minor noise issues on my '94 Fortress. It seems to be the main volume pot has a crackle to it, it's also a pull pot and some times the volume is noticeably lower than it should be but a good wiggle of the pot puts it back to normal. It's my main studio bass though so I need the signal to be as clear as possible. Any tips on how to clean it up? I can post pics of the wiring if it will help?
19. I'm still not really sure! Fixed it with a lot of tinkering... I think to use asio4all to select the alesis as the input and make sure it had a little green arrow next to it and then it was available to pick as an input in Reaper I knocked up a quick tune with it today just to test it worked too! http://soundcloud.com/mattlawton/be-hop
20. Never mind, got it sorted!
21. As you may be able to tell I'm not very tech savvy.... I'm trying to get it going with Reaper at the min but I'm pretty new to Reaper too so can't find where I would choose where the input is coming from. It hasn't come with any drivers so thats why I used the ASIO4ALL driver as thats the one it says too use on their website.
22. I've just picked up an Alesis io|2 and I'm having a bit of trouble getting it going. I'm using Windows 7 and have downloaded the driver from here http://www.alesis.com/io2 It takes me through ASIO4ALL setup and then nothing happens after that. Any ideas how to install this properly?
23. I'm trying to learn Satin Doll at the min but I've found a couple of different versions of chord charts. I'm not sure the different chords I've got make that much difference though... For example the first chart I found had |G-7 C7| % | FM7 | G-7 C7 | as the first 4 bars of the B section and the second has |G-7 C7| % | FM7 | % | As G-7 and C7 are the ii V of FM7 does it really matter which chart I follow?? Also while we're on the topic, I've been looking for a definitive Real Book but a lot of the reviews I've read on Amazon say they are all missing fairly important tunes or have common tunes such as Equinox in C#- instead of C-. Can anybody point me in the right direction for the 'most correct' real book, if there is such a thing! Cheers
24.
Hey Matt. I'm far from expert at this technique but I'd say the thing to keep most in mind is that to play fast you have to practise slow. Be really honest with yourself and take things right down to a very slow tempo and be as accurate as possible before you speed up. It will come with patience but only out of very accurate technique that comes from taking it really slow. As for order of thumb/fingers, I'd say that you need to find whatever works for you. Personally, I agree with Chris 2112 - keep a strict order of thumb, index, middle, ring when a line is continuous. However, use your head a bit with where you start with the thumb, as sometimes it's useful to reset the pattern (e.g. playing 3 note patterns across 3 strings quickly it makes sense to use thumb, index, middle for speed). One thing I found really useful for this technique was to do string cross/right hand exercises with every combination of two fingers from thumb index middle and ring separately. So I would play the same exercise with strict alternation of thumb and index, then thumb and middle, then thumb and ring, then index and middle, index and ring, then middle and ring. Sadly, my 4 finger technique has long since fallen at the wayside due to my upright playing - I hardly play electric bass any more except for sessions/gigs that require it.
Thanks for all the tips. Yeah I've been practicing slowly, could probably do with going even slower though. I've started practicing my scales to hip hop drum loops too, just to make things a bit more interesting haha. Thanks again boys, I'll let you know how I get on!
