1. This is to thank and praise the coolness of Darren from the Bass Merchant shop in Colchester, Essex. Last Friday 26th Feb I drove 65 miles from my place in Greenwich to his store to drop my Mark Bass CMD102P for which I bought in his store the new Mark Bass the "Little Mark Tube 500W" head. Coolness #1: First of all he gave me a very nice discount on the head. Coolness #2: He told me that when the combo would be back from the distributors I wouldn't need to drive back to his store but he would arrange to have it sent to me instead! Coolness #3: Whilst my combo was away for this swap, he lent me a nice Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0 210T so I wouldn't be without an amp in the meantime. Shweeeet! Coolness #4: Wednesday 3rd of March my combo was delivered back to me, that is 3 working days, having excluded Sat 27th and Sun 28th, quickest turnaround I have ever experienced! Great Service!! Cooness #5: After taking my own combo and the original head from the large box he sent by courier, he included enough padding and bubble pack for me to wrap and box up the Genz-Benz combo which he then arranged collection the following day. My Mark Bass Combo in the space of 4 days went from this: to this: and finally Coolness #6 a lucky man from this forum bought the Little Mark II head from the original combo helping me to recover a good part of my expenditure for the new head. So thanks Darren at the Bass Merchant and thanks to Mr. Anonymous buyer who secured the purchase of my original head in nanoseconds. Oh and..... bejezzus this new head sounds pukka! I really recommend the upgrade if any of you has the same combo, go for it, it can be done to any of the Mark Bass combo's featuring the Little Mark II head and on the plus side you will be able to recover most of your money by reselling the old head.
2. Jaydee copy, looks like a nice job on the body but with a ghastly looking headstock
3. In one of his other youyube video he states that all his youtube recordings are with his bass played through a Pandora box headphone amp

6. Disclaimer: I HAVE READ THE RULES AND GUIDELINS ON MARKETPLACE USAGE SOLD - SOLD - SOLD NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR SALE. I own a Mark Bass combo, model CMD102P the one with the Little Mark II Head in a 2 x 10 speaker cab. Lovely! Can't fault it. However a few months after I bought it I learnt that MARK BASS got a new valve head called the Little Mark Tube that is exactly the same size as the one in my combo. It didn't occurr to me these could be swapped as easy as undoing 4 long screws so thansk to this forum I got in touch with Darren from the Bass Merchant and arranged to drop my combo at his shop for him to send it to Proel UK (MB distributors) for them to do the swap under warranty. So now I have this Little Mark II head for sale - first come - first served basis. If interested pm me for price. Darren of the Bass Merchant, can vouch for the conditions and quality if you need reassurance. Thanks £350 + p+p or £350 if you collect in person from my office in Tilbury docks - I work as a Port Capt if I am not there and on a ship, my colleagues can see to you. What? You want some pics? Well in the combo it looks like this: and the head on it's own looks like this He doens't look that euphoric, does he in that pic?
7. Hello, I am Mr. Cynical I can only see a solid return, (meantime you hang on to it and keep it safely stored) if one day any of the 3 who signed happens to pass on, then you'll see the value of it seriously going up. ++++ Hello I am Mr. Cynical (again) My PRS bass was signed by Paul Reed Smith (see pic attached) and... if you follow my train of thoughts...
8. Candy Apple Red with maple neck, looks good enough to eat
9. A long long time ago, back in the days of horse and chariot, I was playing regular weekend gigs at the Red Lion in Brentford (which is now a McDonald's drive-tru joint) a band which I formed, called Frank & Disorderly, me being Fran) you might have heard of us if you lived in the west London area, and are mid 40's early 50's, we are talking 1988-89 that long ago. I had a Mesa Boogie all valve head and everytime the beer pumps were pulled I used to get a whiiiiiiiissszzzz noise out of my amp. I was most vexed about it, I hated playing that venue. But the guitarists, both of them, had it even worse, they used to pickup minicab cb radio transmission, "charlie tango-8-1-7 I've got 2 pob going to hammersmith, over". through their speaker in that same haunted pub. So one day I took the amp to a technician who changed some caps inside and rerouted the earth away from the amp chassis into a series of resistances then grounded it through a rod inside the chassis that didn't interfere with the circuit board and that seemed to do the job.
10.
Very unique, i quite like it has the pickguard arrived?
No not yet, any day this week hopefully, the canooks sent it on Friday
11. PHASE THREE The pickups have arrived These are a couple of Seymour Duncan BASSLINES STK-J1 paired set of Alnico V - Classic Stack Pickups, they are basically humbuckers in a single coil stack, reducing the hum and they are voiced to the exact specs of 60's classic Jazz pickups
12.
I think this one has been ruminating too long. Should I point out now that you could have saved a few quid by buying a plain white PG and using the vinyl on that too? I do feel tempted to try something similar though, just for fun.
Very true but i really do scratch pickguards, me. so... I needed something more stable. On a positive note, my pickups just arrived! yay, so this weekend the new pickups (stacked humbuckers) plus the vintage circuitry will be fitted and all will be tickety...... moo!
13.
I mentioned doing this sort of thing to the other half a few months ago. The idea was to get a battered fender prescision - white with the black blotches and get a headstock logo along the kines of Fender Pro-friesian Bass" - or a black Jazz with the white blotches - logo would have had to be Fender Jizz Bass. I actually like what you have done - purely from a humourous perespective - like the swiss chees bass that has been seen on this forum in the past And yes - I did buy a gateway computer many years ago - the PC was OK, but the Friesian design of the boxes was fabulous
Thanks, it was a labour of love and I know it can't be to everyone's taste but that cheeky feel you get when you play it that in front of your unsuspecting audience is something else. I too had a gateway pc, in 199....5?? something like that, state of the art dial up modem 56kpb!! pfft! Yeah now I remember it came in a moo box
14.
Haha, you may have too much time on your hands! But I agree with the underlying message.
Actually not that complicated, I copied the text in word and then use the find / replace feature and set all the Faith words to be replaced with Ray. Simples!
15. I forgot to add, I hope no one got upset about my comments. I just spoke on account of my personal preferences, and didn't intend to put down those who use or like effects. Cheers.
16. Me, none except for a compressor. (pictured below) frankly speaking unless you are Doug Wimbish, or Stuart Hamm, if you play in a band doing covers or playing a particular style you'll find you'll hardly use effects. We are not guitarists after all we don't need any of that w@nking stuff I've gone through a lot of effects pedals and ended up selling them all back because to me they just add unwanted noise to the otherwise beautiful natural sound of a bass going through a decent amp. When you play in a band your singer and your drummer need to rely on your fundamental backbone, not your echo, chorus flairs, or wah wah sweeps, no Sir. This is all I take with me.
17. In the words of Bon Jovi...... KEEP THE RAY! Mother mother tell your children That their time has just begun I have suffered for my anger There are wars that can't be won Father father please believe me I am laying down my guns I am broken like an arrow Forgive me Forgive your wayward son Everybody needs somebody to love (mother, mother) Everybody needs somebody to hate (please believe me) Everybody's bitching 'cause they can't get enough And it's hard to hold on When there's no one to lean on Ray: you know you're gonna live thru the rain Lord you got to keep the Ray Ray: don't let your love turn to hate Right now we got to Keep the Ray Keep the Ray Keep the Ray Lord we got to keep the Ray Tell me baby when I hurt you Do you keep it all inside Do you tell me al's forgiven And just hide behind your pride Everybody needs somebody to love (mother, father) Everybody needs somebody to hate (please don't leave me) Everybody's bleeding 'cause the times are tough Well it's hard to be strong When there's no one to dream on Ray: you know you're gonna live thru the rain Lord you got to keep the Ray Now you know is not too late Oh you got to keep the Ray Ray: don't let your love turn to hate Right now we got to Keep the Ray Keep the Ray Keep the Ray Lord we got to keep the Ray Walking in the footsteps Of society's lies I don't like what I see no more Sometimes I wish that I was blind Sometimes I wait forever To stand out in the rain So no one sees me cryin' Trying to wash away the pain Mother father There's things I've done I can't erase Every night we fall from grace It's hard with the world in yours face Trying to hold on, trying to hold on Ray: you know you're gonna live thru the rain Lord you got to keep the Ray Ray: don't let your love turn to hate Right now we got to keep the Ray Ray: now it's not too late Try to hold on, trying to hold on Keep the Ray
18.
Does anybody on here make custom pickguards?
This company in Canada sells a lot of original and will do custom orders too as they did for my mooo moo cow one! 19.
Okay - dare I ask? Is there a reason for the dairy cow theme, or is it on a whim?
I have a moo fetish Nah, I just fancied one for ages and since I bought this white Squier I was never fond of plain white basses so... I thought maybe now is the time to experiment that long time wish to own a cow print bass and since the squier was cheap and easy to mod and most importantly it can be return to original at any stage, then why not. I do declare I am not a weirdo! I just fancied something a bit dary, that didn't involve butchering a prized instrument. The pickguard is on the way from Canada, I had to custom order it from these lot: http://www.greasygroove.com/thejbassroom.php I had to send them the design and they made 2 examples and emailed me the pics and then I was able to decide which one to go for.

21. Well I realized that when I finished it looked a bit too busy, so I peeled off the blotches again and reapplied them (this time, less of them and more widely spread so not too busy) I think I am happy with this second version.
22.
you got pink knobs and pickup covers for that then?
hehe, I can't find them, I am looking, what I'll have to do is take the pickup covers of and spray them udderly pink Anyway... I think the way I did it, it's a bit too busy with the blotches and luckily they can just be easily peeled without leaving any glue trace, so I think when I finish work and come ashore I will re-arrange them again.
23. Rawhide!!
24. The pickguard has been cut and it's in the post... but so far... Get the idea? ... more work to do tomorrow Oh and the strap is there too.
25. PHASE TWO The roll of MOO gear arrived, ready to apply some ... bovine ... intervention
