Here is a variety of left handed basses by a dutch luthier with an interesting fanned fret one too at the end of this page: http://home.online.nl/blablas/bass/index.htm
if only it had 5 strings eh.
All it needs is a whammy bar and it'll be a Strat-o-Bast*rd!
Now time for two dumbass questions. If you change the neck on this to one from one of the other Telecaster basses (a) would it make the scale longer ( would you still be able to play notes on it, or would the frets now be in the wrong places?
if the neck you replace is longer yes the scale would be longer and your tuning will be incorrect unless you have enough room to move the bridge back which is not difficult if you do this: 1) Accurately measure the distance between the nut and and the 12th fret and then use those exact dimension between the 12th fret and the new placement for the bridge (make sure all the saddles are set parallel and in the exact middle of their max movement back and forward, as you you can fine tune those later), then... 2) fill the old bridge fixing holes with wood plugs and wood glue and then redrill new bridge fixing holes in the correct position. The Fender American Standard Precision 5 String
Grand Wazoo replied to Schnozzalee's topic in Bass Guitars
I could be wrong about this, but I think you will fing that there haven't been any upgrades to the spec. of the five string American Standard Precision Bass for 2012. Where as the four string Am St. basses have been given Custom Shop pickups, the five string Precision and Jazz pickups remain unchanged , presumably because the Custom Shop don't make as standard a five string P or J pickup. So I presume the only upgrade has been to the price, unfortunately. I don't want to rain on anybodys parade,
you are right, that is correct -
I'm certainly open to trying new settings, although those suggested by sixdegrees are working really well for me. I actually use this as an always-on effect, so matching the dry signal is not an issue. As a matter of interest, do you recall experiencing the same finger noise issue when using the effect?
Not that I remember to be honest.

The Fender American Standard Precision 5 String
Grand Wazoo replied to Schnozzalee's topic in Bass Guitars
A good friend of mine has one, his name is Dave Swift, plays for a showman called Jools Holland, well he swears by that bass as the best 5 strings P bass on the market. He uses it a lot on a number of tv shows and recordings.... -

Thanks but I don't understand, what if one pedal is 12v and the other 9v how is one power supply going to work for both? -
Does anyone know someone who could build me a tidy pedal board for about 5 to 6 pedals which are unfortunately all using different ac adaptors ranging from 9v to 12v to 18V ??
Anybody out there using one of these old things? I've had mine for a while and I'm not sure how impressed I am with it. Can anybody suggest some useful settings that I can work from?
I had one for years and years and the best setting was with just the low compression on set at 11' oclock and the red tone knob between 1 and 2 o clock and then play with the input and output to match the uneffected volume because once off it is not a true bypass pedal as in those days they were still unheard of. It's an analog pedal don't forget so you need to play with it a bit to get it to your satisfaction, but it was good for the time, I then invested in a Markbass Compressore which commits the SMX to Room 101. RIP!

Whats the best Jazz Bass I can buy for under £300
Grand Wazoo replied to matybigfro's topic in Bass Guitars
As everybody already said, Squiers or Farida, but... if you want a fretless pretend Jaco on the cheap, there is this: http://www.guitarmag...6mrjp-fretless/ -
Highly desirable instrument. I love that maple neck!

Ben was here at "Dingwall Towers" last Tues and I got to try that bass, it was absolutely amazing to hear and play. Overall weight was spot on and the bass was well balanced when played sitting down without a strap. The Bareknuckle pickup had just the right bite and an amazing growl to it. Lucky Ben got himself a serious piece of kit! I had never tried a Bravewood bass before but I can confirm that geezer can build a serious instrument and I will look him up when and if I am in the market for a "project" bass. Nice one Benno'

Reminds me of Zappa's - Whipping Post... with Scott Thunes on bass. Great finding.
Yep, giving up now!
Besides, a little bird over at ernieball.com tells me you've ordered not one, but two bongo's!! -
I've just received it and it sounds amazing, infact I am having a hard time trying to work out what it can't do, and by the way, you've got to read that 30 pages manual otherwise it can be daunting. I wanted to order the expression pedal that allows you to open up new options at the same time, but Thomann was out of stock so I have to wait until I find it somewhere else. But so far so good as a reverb pedal this is unbeatable! Jeeez it really goes to show that dedicated effect pedals are a much better solution than those multieffects which offer a lot of effect in one box but often none of them are really usable in the context of what they are supposed to do individually. I've tried most of them and return them one by one, zoom. line6 pods, you name it. Now I can actually build an effect chain which I actually want and can tweek as I like it without restrictions simply using these: Tech 21 VT Bass + Tech 21 Boost Bass Chorus + Source Audio Soundblox 2 Dimensional Reverb, Mark Bass Compressore, EBS Stanley Clarke Signature Wah Pedal, and when I can get hold of it a Source Audio Expression Pedal
Good evening Grand Wazoo - why oh why did you use spectacles that make normal bass necks look like they have wonky frets :-D .............only joking - they must sound great........and I must try one sometime.
Yes indeedy!

Yes fair enough, but I remember Ped saying that he has a way of filtering ads which are related to musical instruments only, I am getting Pizza Hut banners now!
-
Now it's nought to do with my web search or cookies, as I have not been looking at Furniture Village or anything remotely related so why is there a banner for Furniture Village on the top?
