1.
Fran just facilitated a sale on behalf of Swanbrook (David), true example of an excellent basschatter and friend, and it just so happens I'm chuffed with the bass. Cheers buddy! Hope to meet again in slightly less hurried circumstances!
Thanks Kev, happy that you are pleased with the bass.
 2. I got this video of him at the London Bass Guitar Show, 3 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZO7b4UunY3I&list=UUu4FqWLIRBo_gKVDJt0SNGw
 3.
I think it's time you reapply!
Que?? Did you see the basses I sport below? doh!!
 4. I see double...
 5.
Anyone tried one of these ..been told build quality and sound are top notch..wondering how close it gets to that stingray sound..
Worth asking these people, they seems to know a lot about Stingray's, I'll get the popcorn http://forums.ernieball.com/music-man-basses/
 6.
That bass looks fretted
Jaco played fretted on many occasions, but what we see there is probably fret lines which maybe are a tad bit bigger given the scale

 8.
So, after a number of years playing modern long scale basses with 5+ strings, this polar-opposite rock beast lands on my doorstep: a late 60's Gibson EB3. The low end is truly walloping, but the fun will really start when a set of D'Addario Chrome flatwounds arrive tomorrow to replace the old roundwounds it's currently wearing... At some point soon, a good friend of mine will be bringing over Ashdown's take on a B15 - lawdy, i can hardly wait!
John make sure you're in this evening after 8pm as I am dropping the Ashdown at yours Look after it properly this is as a rare beast as is your bass, no serial number and with a commemorative plaque

 10. Very sad to hear this, I liked his playing a lot. Saw him playing live many times with Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin etc, but one of the most remarkable thing I saw him playing was the traditional Tablao Flamenco in a very small club in Spain with Flamenco dancers and a singer called El Camaron De La Isla, it was just his guitar, the singer and the lady dancers with those finger clackers and their heels to provide the beat, it was amazing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKtAhJPZS6o
 11. After many years (22 years to be precise) of searching for the perfect replacement for a 1983 JV Series Squier Jazz bass which was stolen from me, I must have tried every Jazz bass that was produced ever since and found a 2011 American Standard to be in my views the best Jazz ever made. The pickups are superb, as is the craftsmanship, perfect neck pocket, weight, everything is spot on and the high mass bridge is the icing on the cake. I know they are pricey, but.... they are bloody worth it. 16. Dave Swift rates them quite highly and he has a few of them too.
 17.
I have been soooooooo tempted by the dingwalls more than a few times. The only one thing that keeps me reluctant, is the scale length on the low B. What kind of string options do you have for that scale ?. This is, BTW, also the one thing that I find irritating about 35" basses... //Torben
There are at least 5 strings manufacturers that carry strings for the Dingwall extended 37" scale These are: LaBella Dingwall Paysons Circle K Sansone Strings all available from Bass Direct including the superb Sansone Strings which you can hear on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fbfLBkSqXU As everyone who tried a Dingwall bass will tell you, adapting is not necessary or the correct term to use, you play one and you will be immediately at home. It doesn't need adapting your hands will naturally fall on the correct fret everytime. Dave here, never played one and I lent him one to use at a gig with which he felt immediately at home and I am witness of his faultless playing on stage with a bass he never touched before. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=588621274513889&set=a.588619687847381.1073741871.446213212088030&type=3&permPage=1
 18. RIP Such a shame! I used to listen to his albums a lot.
 19. To answer the question in this thread, well you need to try both and decide for yourself. as you can see people have different opinion on both basses. Stingrays are nice and poppy, if you like scooped slap / pull type of sounds but if you want a soid presence in the audible mix of a band, the precision is the only winner, after all the proof is in the number of competitors bass manufacturers which fit P style split pickups to their basses as opposed to those who fit those large soapbar humbucker common with the Stingrays brigade.
 20.
I would have to take exception with all of these points except the one regarding quality control, Gareth.
Oh I don't believe that was Gareth, no no! It's a clone operated remotely by Strings and Things UK who have managed to "Matrix" into Gareth's brain to make him write all those nice things about their basses, also to stop him from buying more EBMM's and go on for weeks about quality control issues that are only viewable by the real Gareth and not the Matrix'd one. Oh and don't blame Strings & Things either, for they are also being remotely controlled via the "Matrix" by none other than Big Poppadum dum dum himself! Disclaimer all of above was meant only as irony, got that?
 21. I tried one and really liked the vibe, as said by other, you get decent quality pickups by wilkinson, better than the Squier, but the one I tried was in bad need of a trussrod and action setup, it had a very high action that made it almost impossible to play. Other than that the hardware is good, bridge and tuners work well, not too heavy and loads of resonance.
 22.
I see Mr Swift is using a singlecut Fodera. EDIT: Beaten to the punch, doh! 23. Just received an email from LBGS confirming above! Wow! http://www.londonbassguitarshow.com/lee-sklar-performs-in-association-with-warwick-basses/
 24.
Yes, but if you modified the new bridge rather than the original bass, then it would be reversible by simply refiting the old bridge. The holes in the bass would not be affected.
The holes in the existing bridge are narrower than a standard Fender, Gotoh, or other brands off the shelf replacement, meaning that if I was to modify a new bridge the new holes would be too close to the other and end up in a mess.
 25.
In that case could you take a new "Off the Shelf" bridge and drill additional holes it it to match the existing screw holes in the bass? A custom made one will be very expensive compared to off the shelf.
Yes and thank you for the suggestion, I know that would be an option but not one I want to do, because my idea is to keep upgrade reversable in case I sell the bass and the buyer prefers to have all orginal parts. Cheers
