1.
As a man who also owns 3 CV's how do the two '50s compare. I can't decide weather to stay budget or break with tradition save some dib dabs and get something a bit more upmarket for the first time. Oh and by the way your pics make the burst look much better than on the fender site!!!
Unfortunately the bass is still in my cabin where those pics were taken, it was delivered at my work at 5:00pm before we sailed, I am presently on a ship sailing the english channel, won't be able to compare with the Squier 51 til I get home tomorrow, all I can say is: strings need changing, they must have been on that bass for ages, the neck needs minor adjustment, it's just sligthly over concave i.e. too much relief and the saddles are at the lowest point. Nothing I can't fix when i get indoors but it does have a very decent resonance played unplugged. One more thing, it weights more than my Squier 51 reissue, that ash body is well hefty, but that's all good. Until tomorrow.... bon voyage!
 2.
Popped into Denmark St last night and wandered past Bass Cellar (which appreared to be functioning as normal, by the way - with [get this] helpful people behind the desk!) They have a 51 in sunburst at £799!!!!! Hope that makes you feel good Grand Wazoo
It doesn't just makes me feel good, It gives me a hard-on mate!! yahahayahaha (Sidney James laughs) Look what I just got Check this out!!
 3. keep an eye on ebay, cause in a shop you won't get much quality for that amount, also check your local cash converters. good luck
 4.
I had an email from them last night about that. Shame im in London :-(
Well, if I am not sailing on the date, (you can never tell with my ships) and I decide to make it, I am also based in London and if you like you can hitch a ride from me Dave. So book yourself a place anyways.
 5. Abosolute Music Solutions are hosting an Ernie Ball MusicMan Night at their store in Poole. Also the ever wonderfully talented Dave Marks will be there doing a bass workshop or something. Be a chance to learn a few tips off him, nice to be able to meet and greet him if you can make it. Jolly ol' chap he is. Apparently it must be booked, so call them up first. Sounds like a bargain night for any EMBB purchase and a chance to win one of their far east copies the Sterling by MM series.
 6. What's the matter wiv u, I told you already last week! 7. Ok, I think now we can put the matter to rest as Mr. Anonimous has read this message and made the correct amends, as per the message below:
Hi Mr Wazoo, Just saw your post and i can only offer my deepest appologies for the lack of reply. I did send you a thankyou before they arrived but not after so a big sorry for that. I hope that you can forgive this as it was an extremely generous offer and it was greatly appreciated . My sincerest appologies once again. Anonimous
Thank You, Anonimous That means a whole lot to me. Enjoy the rest of the week. Cheers Fran ------------------------ Matter is now put right, let's close the book on this one. Cheers
 8.
I can't play "floating thumb" style, so with no pick-ups where do I put my thumb?!
Fit a thumb rest'o and hey presto!
 9. Prepared to be amazed, scared, and totally abducted by gas after viewing this video review by Ed Friedland
 10. This was the original post with me free offer: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=796212
 11.
On a related matter, I think (within reason) EVERY transaction on BC should result in Feedback - I get irked by having to send fishing PMs to people that I have dealt with to get them to post me feedback ("hope you like it/were happy etc, BTW have you left you positive feedback, smiley emoticon etc"). How else can you (a) show gratitude and (b ) engender trust in other BC'ers. TBH it doesn't matter too much to me now, as I have accumulated (to my shame) lots of feedback, but if I was a newbie member it really would matter
Well the feedback doesn't really matter to me, I have also recently sold a Mark Bass Little Mark II to another anonimous for a VERY decent price in this forum, we have a very smooth transaction we were both pleased with sale / purchase, he offered to leave me feedback but I said it didn't really matter to me as long as he was happy with his purchase and he truly was. This is not ebay after all so feedback to a degree is pointless but the courtesy we exchanged goes a long way in my book he paid immediately and I posted it first class the afternoon and he received it the very next day safely boxed in the orginal polystyrene filled box.
 12.
The best price at the bass gallery is £299 and they wouldn't budge on that, RRP is £349.
I got mine from GAK in store after about 30 min of hard haggling while flashing the sovereings under the bloke's nose, for....... wait for it...... £249!!!
 13. I've sent a set of La Bella flatwounds to a member whom I forgot the name, they had been on and off the bass for one day as I didn't like flatwounds after all, so they were virtually new, I offered them in this forum for free to the first person that pm'd me and I did as promised, I've sent to Mr. anonimous the very next day, now more than 3 weeks ago. He must have got them by now but I never got so much of a thank you message neither in a pm or here. You know who you are. Next time I feel this generous I'll chuck them in the bin or give 'em to Oxfam. Rant off.
 14. Lovely peace of art, that is... Well done Clarky ol' boy. Mine is due to arrive on Thurs.
 15. Congratuation on a very nice bass from the man who owns all 3 Squier CV's!

Suitable Matching Ashdown Amplification found on Ebay! .....check Ebay Links
No! haha, not that's not me I am in London but that is something that even I would draw the line at, you mean this, right? 17. I give them numbers in order of purchase, so No.1 will be the first one I got out of the ones I currently own. If I sell No.1 then all the numbers are automatically shifted in my database according, No2, becomes No.1 and so on... Yeah I know it might sound anorak-like but I keep a database with where every bass has a record, with fields such as date of purchase, price paid, date last string set (make/gauge) were fitted so I can keep track of average strings wear, also the date in which batteries were fitted so I know how old the batteries, and a brief description of the bass make and model together with mods carried out, pickups, wiring, pots etc etc... when you own many basses you tend to forget these details and it all helps when it comes to moving them on.
 18.
The Butter Scotch will match your Mark Bass rig!!!!
Yeah it would have but... the shop that sold them for £499 only have the sunburst left, and I am not paying £699 just for the colour priviledge, it's the same bass at the end of the day, but a lot cheaper
 19.
Lovely collection, GW - Can't wait to see your new acquisition, Mr.Al!
I know, me too! Due in July... tap... tap... tap... tap... tap...
 20.
when you think of the extra work to do the contoured body. Is it back and front?? Cost of the better bag 100 dabs isn't too bad. If it only didn't come with the 12th fret inlay. If you do a signature bass whats wrong with just the sig on the back of the headstock like the steve harris! And I've just noticed something, look at the grain in the two pics above!!!!
Yes Fender have photoshopped the same body (slab body I should add) to a different neck, one pic show the sting inlay the other don't, in effects they must have just photoshopped the sting inlay over the standard instrument.
 21.
I just got a really well made wooden thumb rest from Guy at classic guitar boxes. Very good value for the excellent craftsmanship, the wood feels great, but he does some crazy coloured plastic ones too. http://www.classicguitarboxes.com/thumb_rests.php
Yeah, highly recommended company, I also am one of his clients I've bought a kingwood one for my P bass, a clear persplex transparent one for my Moo Jazz and a maple one for my 50's P bass.

 23.
I could be wrong, but I have a feeling a Stingray can operate without a battery even connected - so it might be that.
I confirm it won't work without battery. tried and tested by dummies like me worldwide
 24.
Ah yes! We discussed the Ray 5s...dont you have a Big Al coming?! Thats going to be awesome.... Have you got a preference on the rosewood vs maple on Stingrays? I think if I go Classic Vibe itll be the Jazz...
Yes I am a sucker for maple necks but I ended up with a few rosewood's when I was out of choice. The Bongo's don't come in maple, the 25th Anniversary was bought from America through a friend and it was the last in that store in Kentucky and beggers won't be choosers, as it was purchased after the date in which Ernie Ball stopped making the anniversary series. The 60's precision and 60's Jazz only come in rosewood so no such luck there. But the Big Al 5 SSS will be maple and so will the 51 Reissue effing Sting lookalike yay!!
