  2. My blackheart guitar stack is up for sale! Sadly it just doesn’t get used anymore as I don’t play in bands these days, seems a shame for it to be sat in storage! - Handsome Devil 15w (switchable down to 7w) tube amp with Alnico Magnet Taz & dual rectifier mods installed. - Two 1x12 eminence loaded speaker cabs - Rock-Wire speaker leads - Roqsolid Covers All in very good condition and to be honest, very little use. I took the logos off but they’re included if you want them, and I even still have the original boxes! Collection only Plymouth Trade/part exchange offers welcome as I always like trying new guitars, basses, drums etc etc

  3. Agreed! no updates, and no trade offers at the moment sadly but I’ve had lots of messages on FB and eBay asking me to split it up and sell various bits…. I could but… Maybe I’ll just keep it!
  4. 2014 Epiphone acoustic guitar, model EJ-45, good condition overall but with some signs of use (little dings and scrapes here and there - but nothing that spoils the look). New Ernie Ball Earthwood strings put on for the sale, so it’s good to go. £200. Collection Plymouth Always interested in trade/part exchange offers for other music gear. Guitar, bass and drum stuff mainly.
  5. Mario just bought a pedal off me, quick payment and prompt and friendly communication throughout. Thanks!
  6. Thanks, I went with d’addario short scale and they’re working well. I wanted flatwounds but didn’t want to waste the money if they wouldn’t work. I’ll look into these for the future
  7. Oh wow. I didn’t realise that, I missed out on a bass I’d been after forever (fretless peavey T-40) because of the CITES law in 2018 (I think!?) then they changed the rules. Maybe it’ll relax further at some point on vintage stuff. Thanks for the education! anyway, beautiful bass! Good luck with the sale
  8. Not to derail this thread but they lifted the ban on rosewood musical instruments a few years back I believe (here’s the first thing that popped up on google).
  9. I’m sure this has been asked but I can’t find much other than “probably not these, these ones might work” type posts. Anyone have one and can comment on what strings are an option for these tiny basses? and more importantly which ones work well with it?
  10. a whole pound difference (probably the bridge!) - I’ve never really been bothered by the weight though so I’m the wrong guy to ask. In fact I’d go as far as saying I like the weight of them, makes them feel more solid and substantial! I’ve just been nerding out on every little detail, so it’s a good time to ask! yeah other than the extra fret on the t-20 it seems basically the same. It fits the T-40 body the same. the bodies are also really similar sizes I was pleased to discover that Schaller type (t-40 tuners) fit the T-20 as it has the little cut outs, helpful seeing as I’ve picked up multiple spare sets of those over the years! I thought I had a set of T-20 tuners but they look a bit longer so I’m not sure what they’re off. You could use the neck plate on either too, I was tempted to swap this out for a T-40 one as I have spares… but now I see it, I like the way the plate slots into the plastic piece, smartly done!
  11. I couldn’t resist this one! I’ve got a collection of Peavey T-40’s, and owned a T-45 (and T-15 and T-60 guitars…) but never tried the T-20 so I figured I’d give it a go. Surprise surprise, I love it! Sadly the case foam is disintegrating and making a mess all over the bass. I’ve dismantled it for cleaning (to be fair I do this with each new instrument I get anyway) and need to replace the comically oversized odd tuner and old/gross/dead strings. Not looking forward to sorting the case but, I’ve done it before so at least I know what to expect! I like the fact that the case is brown (all my T-40 cases are black) - I clearly never paid much attention as I didn’t know they were any love for the humble T-20?! And anyone else pretty much immediately dismantle a guitar as soon as they get it?!?
  12. I love them! I’m very tempted to try one of these as I owned the 1024x and loved the sound, I just couldn’t get on with the skinny nut width… obviously a five string would feel more substantial… trouble is I’ve got to sell some gear before I can even consider it! I’m currently clearing out some of my live gear, as I don’t have any plans to get back to that. If I can shift my rig I’ll be in touch about this and the pulsar!
  13. Yeah they’re really superb bits of kit. I used to manage a rehearsal rooms (9 rooms) all of which had the EMX312 - years and years of daily use and I only ever had one unit fail - because someone dropped it! When I needed a PA for my band it was the obvious choice!
  14. Sorry to hear you have to part with it… that is ridiculously beautiful!
  15. It’s nice and comforting to know these get a bit of respect! It was literally something I bought cuz I thought “that’s cheap” and it sat unused in a drawer for years… which made me question if it was good enough I guess. To be fair it was the same with the Tubeman, it was crazy cheap compared to what they sell for… so I bought it either to sell on or for ‘one day’. It’s great having all this stuff to hand now that I’m making the shift from playing live, recording in studios, and working for a music organisation, to now just playing at home. It’s certainly taking the pressure off, and helping the decision to sell off all my big gear feel a bit easier, seeing as I already have everything I need! Who knew my random hoarding would one day come in handy!? thanks for the opinions, I’ll try to stop overthinking it and just enjoy the process. I am really pleased and surprised with how well it’s all coming together!
  16. Yeah I had a 3500 so I’m really used to that sound!
  17. ah you see, that’s kinda what I was hoping to hear - opinions like “yeah it’s actually totally fine!”. I’m just not sure if it’s cuz it’s a familiar sound to me having played a Hartke HA3500 for many years. It does sound good, I just wonder if I’m missing something with cab sims and HPF’s and IR’s and all the other fancy things you can get now. as pointed out, I probably just need to do more testing… I just wanted to get stuck into the recording I guess, so this has been a bit of an after thought
  18. I haven’t no… that would make a lot of sense! I did pickup a hughes & kettner red box which is the cab sim part of the tubeman, I’ve tried it with little amps and it works well. I should try that too and see if it adds anything useful to the vxl. Much experimenting to do!
  19. I’ve got into home recording recently (Reaper) and I was extremely pleased to discover that through various buying/trading/hoarding of gear, I already had everything I needed to get started! I’m using a Yamaha EAD10 to record my drum kit, Hughes and Kettner Tubeman for guitars, I’ve got a rode NT1a for vocals… it all sounds good to me. Bass wise… i happened to already have a Hartke VXL preamp DI, I bought years ago purely because it was cheap. I’ve recorded a few songs and I’m pretty happy with it, good enough for me I think. However, I love tweaking my setup and trying new things! Is there anything that is a big jump up in quality (without going too crazy price wise)? The only thing I notice is the bass maybe sounds a bit less full or real(?) than the guitars… and I think that might be to do with the Tubeman’s cab sim. I’ve got a tech 21 VT to try out but what else do people recommend?
