1. Paul just purchased a Hohner B2v from me which needs a bit of work to get it going again, best of luck mate, you're a braver man than I. Wiring makes my head hurt. Pretty sure I've sold to or bought from Paul before and no doubt will again, thoroughly easy, pleasant transaction and nice to get to meet you this time as well. Cheers!
2. bought some monitors from Terry recently, they arrived today. Great speakers as described, quick postage and some really careful, thoughtful packaging. Generally a really easy pleasant transaction, top stuff!
3. Hi, I'm holding this bass until 6th June for another basschatter who is going to be passing through Plymouth around then... if for any reason the sale doesn't go ahead I'll update the thread and drop you a line
4.
wish I had the money. Have a bump on me
Ta very much! I'm open to offers on this, probably not trades/part exchanges - as strangely there's not much I really want at the moment.... although... try me, you never know
5. SX 4 string Jazz bass, black body, neck, headstock, pickguard, hardware. Includes case (also black) & strap (mostly black - some grey). Offers around £100 + £20 for postage if required. Any questions, please PM me & I'll get back ASAP. Cheers!
6.
It's actually a B2V which has been converted to active. The strap button move is a good idea, keep meaning to move mine in the same way.
Ahhhhh.... how did I not notice that?!? Yes, hence it says B2V on it and not B2AV. I think sometimes I just see what I want to see. Cheers for the heads up!
7. Hohner B2V 5 string headless - I haven't had a great deal of time to play around with it but if there's anything specific you need to know, please get in touch and I'll look into it OK, so just to make sure this is as clear as possible, I'll start with the bad points! This bass doesn't work - No sound at all when plugged in, I've opened it up to take a look and I'm not sure what I'm looking at to be honest but it's clearly not right (see pics) - I'm not gonna do the old "it's probably an easy fix, just a bit of soldering..." etc etc as I have absolutely no idea what it's going to take to get it going again. 8. Bought a little headphone amp from Sid, great item, great price and a really easy pleasant transaction. Would be more than happy to deal with Sid again in future!
9. The band broke up about 8 years ago but we still had 4 songs we never got to record. Problem is I've always hated leaving anything unfinished! These things tend to play on my mind... I used to play the tracks on bass all the time and had listened to very incomplete rehearsal recordings, on and off, for years. I decided to book some studio time to record them myself but quickly realised I'd never do the guitar and drum tracks justice (the drum intro and guitar solo/outro on the track 'Save me from myself' for example... talented chaps). In the end I tentatively contacted the other guys and to my surprise they jumped at the chance to get the tracks recorded! so after 4 rehearsals we went into the studio and recorded together again. We later went back and added vocals which was an interesting experience! The band had had numerous lead singers over the years but a pretty stable lineup in terms of the rest of the band. We decided against contacting one of our old singers and instead had a stab at doing it ourselves. This meant we got to do things our way and in the way we'd always intended; to only put vocals where we felt it really needed it. We often used to get told we should just be an instrumental band but I think this approach works well, It's quite minimalist but I really like how it's come out. We've uploaded the EP to bandcamp where you can listen/download it (it says 'name your price' but I'm pretty sure putting '£0.00' means it's free) https://wishlistuk.bandcamp.com This won't be everyones cup of tea of course and if you're not a fan of heavy rock/metal at all, then maybe just give the last track ('A thousand words') a spin as that's the mellow one! Thanks for reading this and (hopefully) giving the tracks a listen, overall it was a really great studio experience and I'm really happy to have finally got the tracks out of my system! Here's a little 'teaser' video we made from reworking pictures from our old album artwork https://youtu.be/SOjZMC7pIxM And a little bit of studio footage: https://youtu.be/ZGNMaV2zvQE

14. oh and if you still want the strap but don't want to go through them direct see if they have the one you're after on thomann http://www.thomann.de/gb/search_dir.html?sw=minotaur&x=0&y=0
15. really suprised by this, i've bought a fair bit from them over the years (for myself and presents for people) and never had any issues at all, i've contacted them before too when i stuffed up an order and they were really helpful amd sorted it all out really quick. very strange
16.
All instruments are easy to play. No instrument is easy to play well.
yeah probably that sums it up for me but almost everything thats been said here is true to me to some extent. i've played/currently play drums, bass or guitar in different bands and have done a couple of solo recordings where i play them all and for me they can all be easy or hard depending on the style of music etc or the type of player you are/strive to be i learnt to play drums tapping on the desks at school, once i got the hang of the basic co-ordination i tried it on a kit and it felt pretty natural to do take it from there with what i'd already learned. thats my favourite thing with drums over other instruments and in a sense of whats easier to learn; in order to learn or work something out on drums you don't really need to be anywhere near a drum kit. even now with the band i play drums in weekly most of the stuff i play in rehearsal has been thought out beforehand and practiced on my knees or my desk at work or whatever so once i get to the kit its all pretty much sorted that said, my dad was a drummer for years and my whole family are musical so maybe there's something in that too! we all seem to have a pretty good sense of rythm maybe just from being around music so much growing up. i do remember teaching a few different friends at school via the (patent pending!) desk drumming method and some people pick it up soooo quick, others struggle but i've never had anyone that just couldn't. also over the years with work, i've found it sooo much easier to show someone the basics of drumming than the basics of guitar or bass, just seems easier to explain somehow and get them to a stage of being able to play something that makes them feel like they're getting somewhere without wanting to quit cuz its too hard! so yeah for me it was easier to learn or get started cuz i didn't need to buy anything! i was able to teach myself all the basic ground work stuff before i went near a kit so in that sense its easier (and way more annoying for everyone around you - "matt, for gods sake please stop tapping" is still often yelled at me!)
17. hey guys, not actually my band but they messaged me to see if i was interested and i think realistically its too many gigs for me to commit to... they have 71 gigs booked in so far this year! i thought i'd spread the word for them and post it here for someone else to check out. http://www.lemonrock.com/barracoodas shaun's contact details are on the lemonrock page so drop him a line for any more info you need
18.
Good stuff! Sounds very professional and original. I do like. :-)
awesome! thanks for taking the time to listen!
19. just like to add to my above post about the GK cabs i'd bought off geester last year, when i bought them mike said he'd chuck in some GK cables for free so i could make use of the biamp thing... but they never arrived... i didn't fret as i didn't have a GK head anyway, so just left it last week i bought a GK head and messaged mike on the off chance he still had them (bear in mind this is months later...) and he apologised he hadn't sent them as he'd not been well for a while. they arrived yesterday and i now have the full Gk rig in all its glory! thanks mike you're a star!
