Figured i should probably start a thread for Gray as he doesn't seem to have one here yet. i've just succesfully completed a trade deal with him in which he kept me informed of what was going on every step of the way, he posted the bass out quickly and was just generally a nice chap to deal with! i'd have absolutely no problem buying/selling or trading with him again or recomending anyone else do the same Enjoy the hohner mate, now i've just gotta try to get to grips with the ashbory! cheers matt

one is the pickup selector, neck pickup-both on-bridge pickup the other is a phase switch i just tried to explain the phase switch, then re-read my ramblings and in the end i think its probably easier for you to just look at the manual! than try to decifer what the hell i'm going on about!

thanks for the replies/offers gents, neither of those basses are quite what i'm after (yeah i know, it would have probably helped if i was more specific to begin with!) gonna go through the PM's i've recieved now and let you guys know what i think... there quite a few fenders on offer which for some reason amuses me. i'll start giving the trade thing a bit more thought now and list a few more alternatives (there are some lovely basses on here at the moment giving me inspiration) keep the offers coming! -

i have a black Peavey T-40 with a maple neck from 1983 that i'm considering letting go (purely because i have 2 the same and it seems a bit OTT) its in pretty good shape for something (almost) as old as i am, a few dings and scrapes here and there but nothing too serious. I replaced the toggle switch for the pickup selection because it was broken but i couldn't find the exact type (check the pics, the replacement is smaller) i also bought a replacement truss rod cover as it was missing, other than that everything is original to the best of my knowledge. since replacing the selector switch i bought the right type of toggle from a T40 parted out on ebay (US) which is the exact one but i haven't got round to fitting it yet (soooooo many pickguard screws!!!) so i'll either fit it for you if want or leave it as it is or include it so you can solder it in yourself at some point... your call. anyone who wants more pictures or whatever just drop me a PM and i'll sort it, i have a few more pictures of the bass and i took some more close up shots of the imperfections but i don't really want to overload the post with billions of pics (i think the ones above give enough to go on for sparking initial interest or not) Thanks Matt

Powering a bass off my PSU's daisy chain or another 9v adaptor?
kingforaday replied to kingforaday's topic in Effects
good enough for me to give it a go then i reckon, i have quite a long daisy chain with a couple of the plugs blanked off giving more length and as Stylon Pilson said, its an electric upright so i'm going nowhere! -

cheers for the reply, i've just bought a box of 10 procells in case this other way wasn't possible but i know i'll forget to change them til they run out or it or leave the cable plugged in and drain them at aoundcheck... -
i use the insulation from mains cable - cut a length a couple of inches long, and then pull out the cables from the inside. you can slip this over the unused connectors in your daisy chain (trimming it to length if you like), and it stops them touching anything else. if it's a tight fit, bung the insulaton in some warm water for a minute and this usually softens it enough to stretch it over the plug ! viola !
good call, thanks! i'll give that a go -
yeah don't see many with rosewood boards, stunning wood grain on that one too!

right, i play passive basses these days so i've got used to not worrying about batteries etc. and all my pedals are run off a daisy chain with power supply. however, in one band i'm in, i'm using my stagg upright and as i found out the other night it tends to cut out and feedback(?!) when the battary runs down... battery light was still on but dimmer, i think (i was on stage flapping about trying to find the problem so i can't remember) but whatever it was i changed the battery and it was all good. got me thinking if i bought one of those diago battery clip converter things would it be ok to power my bass off the daisy chain? or am i being an idiot? i'll only be using 2 or 3 pedals for this band (DI, Tuner and maybe a chorus) so i'll have extra plugs i can use, if it'll reach or it not a single 9v power supply with the same converter on the end? also, what do you guys cover the daisy chain plugs you're not using (if there are any?!) with? i've done a search and seen blu-tak and electrical tape, but that all sounds a bit messy to me. any help greatly appreciated. cheers matt

rickenbacker sound on a budget? hmmm; Peavey T-40! can't say i've ever actually played a rickenbacker but i've seen numerous references to people being able to get that sort of sound out of one of these. or if its the rick look you want maybe a japcrap (tokai etc) copy? certainly look the part no idea on the sound though good luck with your search
