1. great post there, some really cool info i didn't know
2. +1 for boschma rack cases, i am literally as happy with mine as its possible to be with a rack case!
3. i've got a minotaur strap and i love it
4. good enough for me to give it a go then i reckon, i have quite a long daisy chain with a couple of the plugs blanked off giving more length and as Stylon Pilson said, its an electric upright so i'm going nowhere!
5. cheers for the reply, i've just bought a box of 10 procells in case this other way wasn't possible but i know i'll forget to change them til they run out or it or leave the cable plugged in and drain them at aoundcheck...
6. anyone? i've got a gig on friday and would like to give this a go but don't really want to blow myself up... oh and aphook, tried the mains cable tip, spot on thanks!
7.
i use the insulation from mains cable - cut a length a couple of inches long, and then pull out the cables from the inside. you can slip this over the unused connectors in your daisy chain (trimming it to length if you like), and it stops them touching anything else. if it's a tight fit, bung the insulaton in some warm water for a minute and this usually softens it enough to stretch it over the plug ! viola !
good call, thanks! i'll give that a go
8. yeah don't see many with rosewood boards, stunning wood grain on that one too!
9. right, i play passive basses these days so i've got used to not worrying about batteries etc. and all my pedals are run off a daisy chain with power supply. however, in one band i'm in, i'm using my stagg upright and as i found out the other night it tends to cut out and feedback(?!) when the battary runs down... battery light was still on but dimmer, i think (i was on stage flapping about trying to find the problem so i can't remember) but whatever it was i changed the battery and it was all good. got me thinking if i bought one of those diago battery clip converter things would it be ok to power my bass off the daisy chain? or am i being an idiot? i'll only be using 2 or 3 pedals for this band (DI, Tuner and maybe a chorus) so i'll have extra plugs i can use, if it'll reach or it not a single 9v power supply with the same converter on the end? also, what do you guys cover the daisy chain plugs you're not using (if there are any?!) with? i've done a search and seen blu-tak and electrical tape, but that all sounds a bit messy to me. any help greatly appreciated. cheers matt
10. rickenbacker sound on a budget? hmmm; Peavey T-40! can't say i've ever actually played a rickenbacker but i've seen numerous references to people being able to get that sort of sound out of one of these. or if its the rick look you want maybe a japcrap (tokai etc) copy? certainly look the part no idea on the sound though good luck with your search
11.
Wish I had the money...
wish i lived closer to manchester...
12. also i'd be interested to see some pics of your t40's (especially FlatEric's collection!) so get posting people!
13. agreed. i think its a shame if people are put off by the name on the headstock but i guess it's a good thing that not too many people are driving the bidding up on these. you can get some real bargains on them. yes the weight is an issue for some i guess but... seriously, look at it! it's beautiful!!!
14. yeah for me it ticks all the right boxes, the build quality is great, love the bridge and even the metal control knobs are just pure class. very very versatile sounding, a joy to play and is the kind of instrument that turns heads which (not that i'm that shallow...) is always nice! the only downside is the weight which gets a bit much in a 3-4 hour rehearsal but all in all it's worth it!
15. I've got 2 and am always on the lookout for more! also started looking at purchasing the Guitar versions (got a T-15 the other day) could end up with a nice little collection here. may end up selling/trading this beauty to fund the purchase of a white one or a nice natural finish if one comes up as i have another one virtually the same - except its 1982 (which is when i'm from) and this is 1983 anyone else play a bass born the same year as them? guess that's a thread in itself...
16.
haha brilliant :-D How do you transport it, though?
i made a pedal board quite similar to that, i transport it in a guitar gig bag and just fold the bit where the guitars neck would be over the top and into the handle on the front! (bit of extra padding) not sure how it'd handle the back of a transit van with cabs falling on it etc but it'll do ok for now
17. anyone know any UK companies that do this mod? i will most definately screw it up if i attempt it myself!
18. have sold more bits and pieces to shaun recently, he always pays straight away and there are never any issues. top guy!
19.
Matt just helped me out with some patch leads i was after. Cheers matey!
yep and sold your El Grande Bass Fuzz back to you! i posted it on my way to work today so it should be with you soon!
20. though old age hasn't set in for me just yet, i play a pretty heavy bass (peavey T-40) so i use a minotaur leather strap. very wide so it spreads the weight nicely, not exactly cheap but they're really really well made check 'em out here
21. can't believe there's no takers for this, these are awesome basses and thats a great price! i would go for it but i'm skint and i've already got two!
