  1. Here’s a funny little aside from all of this… I always believed I just stumbled upon the T-40 one day and began collecting them… but here’s a pic I found a few years after buying my first couple… my mums old band, a picture that would’ve been in a photo album at home when I was growing up… look at what the bassist is playing
  2. absolutely! I used to own such a random collection of instruments where it was more about a desire to try everything… then I realised I always came back to these, so I sold everything and just bought more of these. I have such a strong impulse to collect things… the trouble is I play drums and guitar as well so my house looks like a music shop
  3. Plot twist: I was that “friend”! not really! Sorry to hear that. It’s a brave man who steals another man’s rig but also a stupid man that runs off with a Peavey Rig… you aren’t gonna get too far without help
  4. I’ve had them… I just decided to try and curb my collecting as it was getting out of hand… I’ll only buy those from 1982 (but with an exception made for this one of course!) as that’s the year I was born. I’ve sold about 4 or 5 over the years as well!
  5. I mean here’s the rest of my collection… so yeah… totally obsessed with these!
  6. I’ve been aware of it for years - there was a listing that used to pop up on Google searches of when it was sold at auction… obviously I didn’t think I’d ever get it! I guess as it was made for a Peavey dealer in the UK, my odds of getting it were better than they usually are for these American made basses… but yeah it was one of those “I can’t really let it pass me by can I?” Kinda moments. I’d have been kicking myself for the rest of my life
  7. yeah I have a collection of these, one of which I’d say is in ridiculous condition for its age… well, until I got this one! It’s in absolutely amazing condition for something made in 1980
  8. Yeah its a one off special and was made as a gift for the author of the book in 1980 as he was the main Peavey dealer in the UK at that time… it’s the only one you’ll see without a pick guard (there are a few T-60 guitars) and the controls going through the wood of the body (with a rear control cavity). It’s made of Magnolia (according to the man who designed these, I’ve also seen him say he personally built this one in his carport which is very cool) and the neck is figured maple so it’s a fair bit fancier than the regular T-40s you’ll see…
  9. I got the one off T-40 featured in the Peavey Revolution book! to say I’m over the moon is a major understatement! I’ve lusted after this for years!!!
  10. I don’t know specifically who makes them but I had them on a bass made by TBC - ‘The Bass Company’ (here’s a sold one on Reverb if anyone’s curious) they may well be their own brand/design as the bridge was (and was stamped tbc) nice bass and looks a lot more expensive than it was.
  11. I’ve owned about 4 bass big muffs as every time I want that sound I get one and then soon get sick of it… but I just keep coming back! That was until I tried the green Russian version. I’m stunned by how good it sounds, not just compared to the bass big muff or others I’ve had but just as a new pedal… it’s really hard to get a bad/unusable sound from it. When I got it I blew about an hour I didn’t have, because I just couldn’t stop playing it. I’m pretty confident I’ll be sticking with that one now
  12. Done! address is Matt Couch 66 Wilton Street Stoke Plymouth PL1 5LU
  13. Love it, good work tracking it all down! you can always add to it or swap bits out as you find more… but for what it’s worth I like the jellybean kit look!

  15. just to derail this thread further (it’s my thread I can do what I like right!?) how did you deal with the maxed out truss rod issue? The old extra washer under the truss nut method or something else? I have one to sort out once I find time
  16. Wow! Yeah it really shot up! I hope it’s not as bad as it looks and can be restored without too much more expenditure. To be honest if it was a Peavey T-40 I’d have probably paid over the odds, just to try and ‘save it’ - as that particular bass is a serious obsession of mine. I once paid too much for one with a snapped headstock and a hacked up body, just to get some parts to fix a different one!
  17. Yeah, weirdly the electronics and potential problems you can’t see from the pics, scare me more than what’s on show. I bought a Peavey t-45 once that was described as excellent condition and with poor pictures…. It basically looked like this when I got it. Took ages to restore and by then I hated the thing for the time it had cost me, and sold it on as soon as it was good enough to sell
  18. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-guitar-Yamaha-bb1100s-/403136796650?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 sad to see this in a state but someone with the time, skills and parts could sort it
  19. You’re not wrong… good to hear it wasn’t just me that struggled to get the board out… man it’s really wedged in there!
  20. I got given a dead one of these for free… I must get round to fixing that! Cheers for the reminder guys!
  21. ah dang it, well you gotta do what you gotta do! Maybe mention to him that you're on the lookout for the odd drums as he's constantly getting new stuff in... he's got a lengthy list of things I'm after and drops me a line if he gets something in. He's done me some pretty generous deals on things lately too. Either way, best of luck, I hope you can finish the kit. Looks great!
  22. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114832861114?hash=item1abc9267ba:g:nPAAAOSweMhgt-K4 This one just came up on Ebay weirdly, great seller (I've bought loads from him in the past)
  23. That. It might seem like a defeatist attitude but life's way too short to waste time on projects you don't really believe in! The only way I'd attempt any kind of changing of their band/lineup etc was if it was an original band and I really believed it could be something special if they got a different singer. I'd be running the risk of them kicking me out as the 'new guy' of course, but it'd probably be at least worth a shot if I thought there was enough potential there. Whatever way you go with it, best of luck!
