  1. I'm still in . . . unsubscribed from emails/FB groups etc. I was so tempted with an AGC on sale here (which has thankfully sold to someone else), but actually I think I've substituted boat refurbishment GAS for bass GAS.
  2. Glad I signed up to this - there's a bass for sale on here that I would have had in a heartbeat . . . but I don't actually 'need' another bass and I do need money for other non-bass related rabbit holes.
  3. I'm in. Tier 1 and Tier 2. No bass related stuff for Christmas (that's a first) - but then, I don't play in a band anymore. I don't need any more music production software as I haven't done any recording for a while.
  4. I think I could be up for this. However, is it ok to sell stuff (without replacing it)?
  5. I've just checked, coming Thursday!
  6. I have the M1000 (and an M2000 too which I think has the same drivers, just open backed). I use the M1000 plugged into my Aria Sinsonido travel bass (which has a built-in preamp) and it copes with the low notes very well.
  7. Thanks! Also available from Time + Space if you've got loyalty points to use up, but without the expansion pack. I also bought Izotope Neutron (standard edition) for a third of the price of the upgrade options from Alloy or other software.
  8. I picked up an Aria Sinsonido travel bass to take away with me. Probably not to everyone's taste but stows away small. Not particularly cheap new, but I got mine for about £120. Mine lives in a rifle bag and has the rucksack straps on you would need to cycle to rehearsal. It's probably most suited to acoustic-sounding gigs because of the piezo pickup. Or there's always a Wing Bass - depends on the budget, and Alan at ACG is currently doing some very small/short basses to order.
  9. Are you sure you don't write for Private Eye? If not, a whole new career beckons . . 🙂 Ralph
  10. Wow. Seriously just wow. Only bass I have ever sold was my Shine SB24 PJ (and wish I'd never sold it). Amps I have sold Laney Richter RB3 and GK MB500. Cabs I have sold Warwick WCA410 and Peavey 410TVX. I really must try harder!
  11. Yes, you're probably right. Just not to me! 😀
  12. Geddy Lee of Rush is probably the most well known lead vocalist bass player. I'm sure there are others though, they just don't come to mind as easily.
  13. I think I'm on a winner then - I pre-ordered and paid for it in February for £18.59 from Amazon. I'm pretty sure they have to honour the price!
  14. This is one of my favourites:
  15. There's a formula relating length of pipe, frequency of sound and speed of sound and harmonic required. (Speed of wave = frequency times wavelength in consistent units for fundamental). This page gives you a link to instructions on how to build one! https://drumsoul.wordpress.com/2016/12/28/how-to-build-a-blue-man-group-pvc-tubulum-cigar-box-nation/ I love the Blue Man Group, would love to see them live.
  16. Thanks Graham (loving my Quilter BB800 BTW). I had already edited the ad some weeks ago, to highlight that the latest version of the amp has the limiter switch on top and to note that mine doesn't.
  17. Rob, I totally appreciate Mel Bay's point of view. It was just my personal frustration and preference, and as I said, I hope that your work is a success. For Dad and Robbie, it's a bit difficult to do that with an eBook!
  18. It looks good on the website, just the sort of book I would buy EXCEPT for one thing, the tab immediately below the music. At the risk of opening the perennial tab/notation can of worms again, I really hate that, as where my sight reading is right now, I want to concentrate on the notation and not have my 'brain' have a cheeky crib from the tab fingering. Now if the eBook is formatted such that I can see only the music, then I'll buy straight away. Any chance of that please @Rob MacKillop? I guess not, but nevertheless all the best with your venture. Ralph
  19. Paypal exchange rate is usually rubbish and can be bettered by alternate payment methods! Although I do find it slightly naughty of Thomann to convert their prices to £ STG using 'their' euro exchange rate.
  20. I got it at the previous price, not used it at any serious volume but I'm liking it much better than my previous Class D (GK MB500). Thanks for your review!
  21. I'll enter that one as well, just to make up the numbers. The months that have passed since I last submitted a composition haven't done me any favours! A cracking set of entries this month, well done all.
  22. Yes and No. My bass music sight-reading has improved since the last band decayed and fell apart. That's because I have been practicing sight reading. As far as other stuff goes, I would say that my innate timing and ability to play with a drummer has got worse, just because I'm not doing it regularly. Any skill requires regular use otherwise it withers away. Ralph
