Bergantino 2x12 for sale ***SOLD SOLD***

That was also the reason I bought the OC2 I had seen it in Bass Player back in early 90s. Marcus Miller and Sting were also mentioned as users so I thought I would give it a spin. I barely touched it. I had thought about chorus, dirt pedals and envelope filters but I was just worried it would just be like that Boss pedal turned on once and then just back in the box. I have never felt the need when I have been gigging to add sounds. But I was just really curious if you guys used it a lot or just the odd song. I might look into drive pedals that seems to be the most likely pedal I would use.

So I have been playing for almost 30 years and apart from owning Boss OC2 which I never used I have not really used effects. I was always curious about envelope filters but never really tried them. Do you guys use use effects a lot or do you just use something for the odd song or section in a song? If so what effects do you use most?

I am looking for an advice or an opinion and hear about experience of 1x12 cabs. I have been gigging Bergantino AE212 for few years in a covers/function band. I am hoping to find few different musical projects in the new year but feel it’s a bit of an overkill to drag that cab around for either jams or small gigs. So I was hoping to find a light weight 1x12 to have around for these. I usually just stick to what I know so I would be looking at Bergantino again AE, CN or HDN. I have Mesa D800 and really like it so I was even thinking about the light weight cabs from them. So my question is, is there much difference between these three Berg cabs and if so should I be looking for any in particular? How do the Mesa cabs compare? And finally should I possibly get rid of the 212 and have two separate cabs so I can scale up or down as is needed? I see that Mesa has the 112 and 115 often paired up. Should that be a consideration instead?

I played a borrowed Hartke HA3500 for a year few years back and it sounded good and was reliable. I think like everyone has said either amp would do a good job with what you need it for.

I need to check this out. I became aware of her in the early 90s because she was regularly featured in Bass Player but never really followed it up. I was totally blown away by her voice on Rush Over a track on Tales by Marcus Miller. I need to give that a spin again when I get home from work. Thanks for posting -
Love that Miami Vice mention. If Don J would have been a bass player he would have played this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5CR4lSORZ_Q

Hey thanks for the tip. I did just that, gave them the measurements and it arrived today and it fits perfectly.

It was around 1990 and it was a Japanese Squire P from the ‘80s. It was dire but started me on my journey. I played with a pick with no amp for a year. I got it in my head I didn’t want to spend too much money on this new hobby in case I would not stick with it. I did and after a year I bought an old Yamaha amp, B100-115 which was really heavy beast but got me going in bands at 17 - 18. Dont miss either of those to items but you have got to start somewhere I suppose

I have a flight case that came with my ‘89 Warwick Thumb 5. The foam in the case has started to disintegrate. Any ideas where to get a replacement?

Trying not to derail this thread. I was just watching Dave Grohl’s Sound City. There are pictures of Nirvana recording Nevermind and Kris is pictured with a Dolphin in few shots. Not a fan of the band or album but I was surprised when I saw it. I have no idea if it was used on the album or what tracks but that would be quite funny if Smells like teen spirit would have been recorded with one.

I have not looked at the current thing. I am really sad but I only like Warwicks from around 90 +- 1-2 years. And back then 6 was not an option. I read a review in Bass Player in 90 or 91 and that’s when I first saw one. Jazz bass on steroids was the description of the sound. It looked so different and interesting but sadly I never got one.
-
My bad. I have never played one but for some reason I thought it might be similar
-
Did they ever come as 6? I have never seen one. But ergonomically they must be similar to Thumbs. If you get on with those I would think Dolphins are just as good.

Just get another Warwick simple

My first proper bass was RBX1000 back in ‘93. Really good bass but looked a bit metal when I was doing my jazz studies and traded in for a fretless Stingray. I have only seen one of those again and it was here in the For Sale section couple of years back. I was tempted to get it to see if it was as good as I remembered.

Well my 8 year old daughter loved it few years back (yes she was eight and probably should not have been watching it) and I enjoyed it for what it is. Its not groundbreaking and and there was nothing original or new in it but for couple of hours I had a smile on my face and laughed few times because how stupid it is. That’s what I call entertainment which all I wanted from it. I expect the same from the Motley Crue movie.

No because its so much fun seeing to grown up strangers argue about petty stuff on the Internet.

I bought a new bass for £3,000 but got it wrong...
bassbora replied to Al Krow's topic in Bass Guitars
I have often wondered the same myself. Why spend so much and put a NBD and its the best bass ever and the week after its up for sale. Well its a hobby and I guess we are all curious and want to try things out. But I am in the group that buys only second hand. There is just something about second hand guitars that I love (not these relic jobbies). And I have always known what I like so I dont need to try every single bass under the sun. So I have managed to get the basses I wanted (4) and I am set for life. All bought second hand and three blind. I rotate them and gig them most weekends so I feel I can justify it and they were exactly what I wanted. But the good thing about hobbyists is that they often spend more than the professionals would and take really good care of their gear so when they move things on the rest of us can benefit greatly. Nothing wrong with that like has been said. Thats what makes Basschat such a great place -
I think you should be looking at secondhand. I have over the years had 5 Warwicks and the prices have been really good if you are a buyer last few years. I noticed that someone said prices are going up but I can’t comment on that. I have never tried any other than the older German made ones so I cannot comment on the quality of the Far Eastern models but the quality of most guitars in that price bracket has gone up considerably over the last few years. Warwicks are quite marmite and I guess either you love them or hate them but I have been playing nothing else since ‘97. I know compared to some people on here that 5 basses is not a lot (I only have currently 4 and I am not looking for any more) but these provide me with everything I ever wanted in a bass. I could probably just keep my Stage2 and be happy. I have been gigging it few times a month for years and it has never let me down.

Is it still active? I have not been in a long time because it there was hardly any activity. I might check in again.
