if you are wanting to put your songs out, you are better putting them on itunes, spotify, amazon yourself. for not a lot of money, you can set up your own merchandise websites, bigcartel i think is one, tunecore for the publishing of songs. its really easy to do yourself, unless you are looking for someone to fund a massive advertising campaign... which of course you can also do yourself

i quite like both the gallaghers, they are both up their own arses with ego's the size of the empire state building, but they are well aware of it and don't care. noel however is funny and to be fair talented.

im lucky enough to live in a detached house with only one house to the side several metres from my house. I use a mixture of headphones, amp, computer and acoustic. The trick is to be considerate. even if you do use an amp, why would you need to play loud if you are playing alone?. as said before, louder than you would have your tv is probably over the top. we have a good relationship with our neighbours, one of them is also a musician and has a son who is a drummer, so we know that if it caused an issue we would be able to have a chat. we often have people revving their engines in adjacent house, chainsaws at 6/7 am etc, but there is no need to upset neighbours when really you don't have to play that loudly.

i've been using a pre release version of reaper 5, just as good as 4

reaper is excellent, i have switched from cubase and use reaper exclusively now, its no frills look means i rely on my ear rather than visuals, as such my results are so much better

LePou have been around a while, but i've always heard really good reviews of them. haven't used them myself but i've never heard a bad word said about them

i just cant get my head to start anything at the moment, can't put anything together that i like

its personal choice really. once a month which is focused and everyone is prepared is workable... but if they say we practice ABOUT once a month or TRY TO once a month would suggest to me there is the possibility it wouldn't practice that often, or could go several months between sessions... which wouldn't work for me personally. but each to their own i guess

is it wrong that the mismatching underwear is throwing my mojo off?

got my votes in, some excellent entries. well done everyone.

i find passive basses can be noisy when there is no contact with strings, so potentially its a method of removing unwanted noise?

i have a tascam us-1800 which i think is the previous version of this. i have recorded bands directly into this without any hassle. had it a number of years and its always worked flawlessly

Does anyone know where one might find a decent bunch of free midi loops i could run through superior drummer. the obvious choice would be a torrent site but just wondering if anyone knows any websites that do them.

i've done a whole band on an 8 track interface. you can get interfaces that are both mixer and interface... not sure how expensive they are or what your budget is.

the wife bought 4 tickets for a show earlier this year. the admin charges alone came to 45 quid.... how can venues justify this...

i use 50-105, ive never had an issue with strings swapping between E standard and Eb. even with 40-100 i've never had an issue. but if you are concerned or feel they are to floppy, 45/50-105 should be more than enough
I'm blurring the lines a little bit but technically the original OS would still be there
you cant get a refund on a breakage if you have "blurred" the lines
Far easier to swap guitars for a different tuning than the re-tune on stage. Big tonal difference between a strat and a les paul too.
this is why we do it, ive been in bands were we change between tunings, my last band the guitarist used a gibson 335 and a fender strat for different songs as they are tonally different. we did try to organise the set so the guitar swaps were minimised
Hi Guys, We've just booked a gig for next week due to a cancellation but been warned by the band that cancelled that there is always one lady that goes every week and likes to heckle the bands. Personally I have never had anyone heckle me in any band I've been in, so I'm a little unsure how to deal with it! Apparently her favourite line is "Get on with it!" in between songs. Any advice on how to cleverly deal with a heckler? Thanks
if she has in issue with the time between songs, id make her wait longer. after a couple of times say we'll play the next song when she comes out with better material.
Finished! And a few days early... which is a rarity for me these days Mrs Skol took complete charge of baby-nursing duties today and kindly granted me some 'hermit time' in the new music room at home, and this is what I managed to concoct: https://soundcloud.c...lob/work-it-out Bass, guitars and piano played by yours truly. I'm especially pleased with the piano sound - mainly because I had no idea how to mic it up (!?) and so simply removed the top panel and placed my cheap (and only) condenser mic facing the hammers. I then manipulated the recording into what you hear on the track (lots of EQ'ing and careful reverb). Works for me. It's also the first track that I've ever mixed using monitors, rather than headphones! Yeah, you'd think I'd have been using monitors long ago, but there you have it. A productive day and plenty learned. Happy bunny
like this one, the piano sound is awesome
Could you try a dual boot?
Would that not void the warranty on his new PC, as any issues would be deemed as straying from the provided system.

one option that has floated a couple of times is install windows 7 on an external drive and boot from that if you plan to use the mackie. bit of a ballache, but it sounds like your options are limited

Line 6 Pod Studio UX2 Studio, Focusrite scarlet etc. Confussed!
RockfordStone replied to SH73's topic in Recording
line 6 do make decent interfaces, altho podfarm is not as popular as it used to be, i had all the add on packs for podfarm 1, then podfarm 2 came out and none of them were compatible so i didn't bother with it after. i often found the bass models were poor anyway, my bass tone was a guitar amp tweaked in the end. -
excellent work sir... the quiff is also impressive

Line 6 Pod Studio UX2 Studio, Focusrite scarlet etc. Confussed!
RockfordStone replied to SH73's topic in Recording
both will do exactly the same job. the main difference between them is that the line 6 will come with a copy of pod farm software, which will give you various amp simulations that you can use, which can be quite handy. judging by what you are looking to do, i would go with the focusrite. the microphone may be rubbish, but it may turn out to be half decent and will give you a touch more flexibility if you are looking to record guitar as well as bass. you can download amp sims seperately, some of them free which will do the job. i think you would get more for your cash doing that.
