i think thats how much it normally costs me in tesco

i did one at my local college in the evenings, some of them are great for beginners, but on the other hand in my case they served to prove that what i was doing was on the right track

so today i found out my rear suspension has taken a pounding, i suspect partly due to my musical equipment, so i am looking at the option to downsize my speaker cabinet. i am currently running an ampeg svt 3 pro with an ampeg 4 x 10, so i am looking at a 2 x 10 or 2 x 12. in my inferior ohmage knowledge i believe the ampeg only outputs 450watts to a 4 ohm match up, so a smaller 8 ohm cab around 300 watt should suffice. does anyone else do this and has any suggestions, it needs not be another ampeg, just a solid cab which isnt a bank breaker

i've got a few ideas for this one... trying to decide whether or not to make it my standard rock song... or try something different.... -
Are Mexican basses really underrated ?
RockfordStone replied to Notoriousm's topic in General Discussion
ive got a mex fender and a jap fender which play great and sound great.... its all down to the individual guitar in my experience... for example i played an american custom shop jazz the other day and it played like complete and utter arse and i wouldnt trade it for either of mine -

there are a number of stations like this in the states, incredible pieces of architecture going to run, here's another -
some really interesting entries this time around. came down to two for me which i thought stood out and it was a hard choice to break it down between them.

a competition to find the "Basschatters Band of The Month" would be fun, say like 5 or 6 bands entered a month, we all vote and that band is the band of the month for february... maybe an obvious link/advert on the main page could be a prize maybe which could give people an incentive to enter... i dunno just thinking out loud
-
That would be incredible ,however , I think there could be a bit of an issue trying to get the membership up for listening to 30 tracks before casting a vote , It would probably be a struggle for me to be honest
seconded, i struggle to find the time to listen to 5 or 6 sometimes. i also think its fair to suggest that not everyone has their own recording set up, i think the ones who do and are into it hang out on this section of forum as it is. in terms of people voting, i did also consider whether it comes down to taste maybe... a lot of people here play songs in the standard form and the compositions on here tend to take the form of a piece of music rather than a typical song... maybe thats why some people don't come over here
-
the way i see this competition, is a place for those of us who do want to create to come together and share with each other, if they rest of them don't vote, balls to them, its all fun regardless if we have 10 votes or 10,0000
Trouble is, many people just aren't interested in other people's music. Which seems counter-intuitive for a community of musicians, but that's how it is.
i don't think that is entirely the case i only go on here fleeting during the course of my day, so i do try to make an effort to listen to the songs as they are posted... if i was to leave it untill they are all in finding the time around everything else i have to do would be very difficult, and i imagine other people are the same. i also believe the site counts whoever goes on, so if one of us goes in 4 or 5 times it counts that, so the correlation between number of views and number of votes can be skewed a bit by this im hoping to get back in the game next month, i must confess i don't find the two photo competitions that inspiring
-
its an interface as much as anything, you can use it to record the gig, or run everything into a laptop and put effects on etc then route to the PA i guess
-
also the fact ive used cubase for the past 5 or more years... why protools? why not logic? fact is, DAW's do the same thing, apart from a number of host only programmes and features... in the end its personal preference, affordability and compatibility
To the OP, could you explain why you're going exclusively with Reaper rather than Cubase?
having used both, ive found that reaper does much the same as cubase in a more effcient way. as i don't have the luxury of being able to record everything at home, i have to go out on a lap top so i need a system which is reliable. the version of cubase i have is an old cracked version, which at times can be a real pain and just not work, or jam up the computer which my licensed version of reaper doesn't. i also like the simplicity of reaper, its quick, easy and customisable whilst still having the power of a more well known DAW. im also looking to start working with friends bands and other local outfits, so having legal software with support would be handy. i know i could use both, but if i do that, i won't get the hours in on reaper which i want to get in order to really get to grips with it.

excellent, i did have a browse on the forum last night but missed that thread, cheers
Some of the Cubase Vst's and Vsti's are vendor host only.
this, i have both cubase and reaper calling from the same vst/vsti folders, but the native cubase ones are cubase only it would seem. the only reason i still use it is the instruments it has, so hopefully i can find some that will work in reaper
Thanks for that.
the behringer C-1 is only about 30 quid ive got one for my rough and ready vocal mic to chuck about at home or in bags, does the job as well as my more expensive one, just not as sensitive
-
Once i get my guitar amp back from the menders and get my bands ep mixed, I am going to make the move over the reaper from cubase, rather than using the 2 i will just use reaper. The main reason i have stuck with Cubase is its bundled VSTi's, Halion 1, Spector and such as reaper doesn't have any. Does anyone know of any good free ones, or cheap ones for synths, pianos and strings etc?

Studio Time, tips and tricks: all finished for now, results posted.

oh and don't let your drummer change his kit set up "for the record man"..... ours did that and it made it a pain in the arse to get the tracks down, use what you are comfortable with and it will all go nicely -

make sure you know your parts tonight, the tighter you are the better your session will be set time limits, say like the drums need to be done by x, the bass by y etc, without deadlines you will over run and end up being rushed also trust your engineer, don't go all billy big bollocks and be like "this is my sound man", he knows what his mics and board will sound like so trust him, tell him what you are looking for and he will guide you -
just tell them the truth you have tried the journey and its longer than expected, if they are any kind of guys they will respect that, and either offer to meet half way or accept your respsonse
