Sold pending the usual [size=3]Devon Custom 5 string fretless[/size] I've owned this bass for around 2 years now and it's been lovely. I've recently had the jack socket replaced and the neck redressed by the guys at the Gallery - it plays like a dream.Only selling this as I've recently bought an EUB which is providing me with the tone I need. She's just sitting in the case, so time to move her on Text mostly taken from Eubassix's original thread (who I got the bass from): High-end (handmade) bass which is extremely light and comfortable, with a slim, easy neck. The body (top) is quilted maple with slight burl to it and the core (rear) is lightly figured koa. The neck is three piece maple and the fingerboard Brazilian rosewood. The bass has seen little use and remains in great condition. Currently tuned E to C and fitted with excellent TI strings Features: · Bartolini MM (bridge position with coil-tapping switch) and J (neck position) pickups standard. · Bartolini NSTMB 18v.-3 electronics with volume, pickup balance, concentric bass/treble, mid and 3-way mid-EQ swift switch. · 24 fret(less), 5 bolt-on 3-piece maple neck, fretless (lined - maple) · Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. · 35" scale · String spacing: 9mm(nut)-16mm(F24)-19mm(Bridge). 1-3/4" Nut · Hipshot Ultralite tuning machines. · Black hardware. · Dual battery box for quick battery change. · Upgrade body wood: figured Koa · Optional upgrade top - curly maple (thick section) + matching headstock cap. · Hipshot "A" bridge made of premium quality aluminum · Wooden rear cavity cover with trim-pot access · All bolts are threaded-insert (no screws - neck & rear cover) · Thomastik-Infeld Strings · Weight: only 8.2 lbs. - I have a hardcase for this (seen in the photos, a bit battered but works fine!) Dings: The only signs of wear and tear are the normal button rash and a small area on the truss access cover where a previous owner has tried to force it open. Very small issue, see pictures. Dorian vs. Aeolian modes for grooves for a minor chord

Definitely agree with what XB said, but you also need to bear in mind that whilst there's a good theoretical explanation for it, it all comes down to what sounds good to you. Using the dorian gives a different flavour, try it out, but I also really like the 'hanging' sounds of the minor 6th, so I use the aeolian too. Remember; music is about what people think sounds good, the theory to explain it always comes along later -

Hi, Something that helped me was to look at chord progressions (not the root notes of the chords, but the relationship between them) , i.e. going "ok, this is a 2, 5, 1 progression" rather than "ok, this is D minor, G7, C major progression". It means that if a tune I know is given to me in a different key, it doesn't matter so much, I just need to do a little bit of fingerboard readjustment rather than spend most of my time staring at the sheet in front of me! It also means you can think "I like the sound of a root chord moving down to the chord over the major sixth" or whatever, then use it when you're noodling. Start to think about more complicated chord progressions, play around them and see what you come up with. Also, just enjoy yourself. If you're worrying that your chords are always the same whilst you're playing, you're probably not having as much fun as you should

A few more CDs up today, I think there's 60 or so now. Highlights for us bassists; Best of Charles Mingus, Jaco Pastorius - Invitation, a couple of Marcus Miller albums. Largely jazz or jazz influenced, so have a browse if that's your thing! Cheers

That's completely normal when you begin to learn, don't worry! As I said try to get as much action through rotation of the wrist, once that feels natural you'll find it pretty comfortable, fast, and not too tiring. Little hint; don't do too much popping when you begin, as blisters are inevitable! Take it easy
