1.
what a lovely bass, are you accepting any trades? Dave
Id prefer the cash but what do you have?? Paul
 2. I am selling my 1971 Fender Jazz Bass to make way for my new 64 Jazz. Apart from a little fretwork the bass is 100% original, pots and serial number date the bass to 71, pots, wiring, pickups, hardware, finish is all original. The bass still has its original pickup covers, with foam mute pad intact! on the bridge cover. Custom Candy Apple Red metallic finish, rosewood board with block markers. The bass is extremely light for a 70's model (at a little over 8lbs) Condition wise there is belt buckle wear, some minor nicks and marks but overall the base is in very good condition for its age. It sounds fantastic and the neck is lovely and straight, nice low action and no buzz. This is a really nice example of an early 70's model as many others suffered from poor quality control but not this one, no gap between the pickups and the body route, no huge neck pocket etc. The bass doesnt have its original hsc but will come with a proper fender jazz hardcase. Price is £2900 Standard colour models go for this price but the bonus of this is the rare Red finish and the light weight of the bass Cheers
 3.
Does anyone make a really nice soft suede strap?
Fo for one of the Suede Moody straps, they are gorgeous
 4. The Peterson is a much more accurate tuner than the Korg I have the older version of the Korg 2000, before they went plastic with red and blue lights. Korgs are great but the Peterson is a step up in my opinion
 5. The fender Geddy Lee is a gorgeous bass Id have one of those before a standard US model
 6.
Great lookin bass mate! VTC installed? Hi-fi/modern sound or vintage alike? Cheers.
Hi No VTC, it just has volume, pickup blend, treble and bass and the toggle switch is for active/passive. The sound is extremely warm when all is set flat or in passive mode, similar to my 64 jazz in fact. You can dial in a huge amount of bass or treble. With these nobs dialled in the sound goes from vintage to hifi but keeps its warmth. There is a super slap sound with the treble up, yet it still doesnt hiss when its up full. Excellent preamp
 7. I am selling my NYC Sadowsky 4 string. As you can see from the photos it has a maple neck and a flame maple finish on the body. The hardware is black. Action is really low and the neck is gorgeous and fast with its natural silk finish. The pickups are the upgraded EMG's which were an optional extra at the time. The bass is really light but this is not due to the use of a chambered body (which Sadowsky uses on all modern NYC models) this is due to a select piece of ash that he used for this body which was already really light weight and resonant. The bass is in perfect condition. There is a slight belmish under the laquer on the lower horn but thats it. No scratches, or belt wear at all. Comes with the original Sadowsky case which is also mint. The bass has been signed by Roger Sadowsky (underneath the control cavity) I live in Ireland but I will ship this anywhere by courier. THe bass will be fully packaged in its case and then placed in a larger outer cardboard box with tons of bubble wrap between the case and the box so no harm will come to it at all. May consider a possible trade of another high end bass but would prefer cash. Im looking for £1900
 8. Shep bought my Tech 21 XXL pedal from me Great guy to deal with and paid me immediately Look forward to dealing with you again Paul
 9. Hi Snarf Is this puppy still for sale?
 10.
I am still in search for a walkabout amp despite of wonderful gear I have. So I'm offering one of 2 units I have for trade with a view to get a walkabout. Ideally I would like keep the basis m-2000 and let aggie go, but if the right offer comes, who knows... What I have for trade: 1. aguilar db680 - bought on basschat some time ago, works great. I feel bad but this preamp obviously isn't the right thing for me at this moment. 2. mb basis m-2000 - also bought here about a month ago. Would like to keep this more than aguilar, but serious offers will be considered. Whichever of them goes first will be shipped in a 2U rack case. Both on pic. What I'm looking for: a walkabout scout 12" (possible cash supplement) or walkabout head.
HI Can you pm me with a price on the M 2000 head? Cheers Paul ([email protected])
 11.
Well, I ordered one in the end, so we shall see! It'll be used with an Eden WT1000 poweramp, which can be bridged into 8 ohms with quite a bit of power, so should be okay! Geoff, I remember borrowing yours before and liked it, so it should be good (would have waited and tried yours again if I had seen it before ordering!), if you ever sell yours let me know and I might get it so I have 2!
The Ampeg SVT 4 is a great cab. It is designed to be used with the all valve classic though. SOunds lovely and warm with this. if you are using a solid state or hybrid amp I would go for a cab with more range like an Epifani or Aguilar, youll get more warmth and high end bite out of one of these with that type of amp. US Ampeg cabs are different to the new breed of Vientamese ones, they use heavier cabinets. Not sure if it affects the tone much though.
 12.
Owner of a M-Pulse 600 for about 4 years. Pretty reliable and, in my opinion, better sounding than the bigger brother Big Block 750. The 5-band parametric eq requires a bit of time and patience to let you find the best settings for your bass, but once you find it you'll get a wonderful punchy sound. I'm selling mine just because of its weight (40+ here...), but sure i'll miss its balls. Disappointed with the Powerhouse cabs though, specially with the weakness of the rated-600w 2x10 (the other one was a 1x15, which was ok). Listening to the M-Pulse voiced by an Aggie GS212 was quite a surprise! It sounded ten times better. The Aggie cab let me discover how good was the M-Pulse. It's a pity Mesa dropped the EV speakers. Cheers!
Mesa Boogie sells for too high a price over here. If you bought an M pulse or Big Block head in the states you would pay half what it costs here. They are not worth £1700, more like £1000 max. They are of the same build quality and standard as Svt Pro stuff, SWR Pro series, Mark Bass etc. I think the high price makes people expect something special which they are not. DOnt get me wrong they make a great amp but its a case of the Emperors new clothes with Mesa Boogie, the same can be said for Fodera basses and PRS Guitars
 13.
I thought the majority of SVT pros had tubes in em somewhere, with the SVT II pro being all tube? I guess the pros have more scope for fine tuning your tone than the VR, though some people like as little knobs as possible and an awesome tone from just plugging in and playing - minimum messing needed. Pros are also much much cheaper if you go second hand (can't comment on new prices). VR's look awesome though, however you need the matching 810 . As for the racking thing, don't particularly see how one is better over the other. As long as you don't just throw your head around it shouldn't be a problem. Aesthetic thing I guess.
In my opinion an SVT Pro is not what Ampeg are famous for . Really the SVT Classic or Classic VR is the amp to have, the V4BH is also a nice head. Im not Knocking the SVT Pros but they are just a different animal with a different sound, I have owend an SVT 4 pro, lovely amp but it sounds nothing like my SVT classic. The SVT 2 Pro is all valve so that may be the one to go for as you can rack mount it, but its also very heavy and uses a lot of valves in the power amp section. As for valve maintenance thats more of a myth. A good valve amp will never give trouble and you just change the power tubes after about 1-2 years depending on usage, pre amp tubes last longer. The SVT Classis is self biasing so you never need bring it to a tech unless its broken. Hope this helps
 14.
I am looking for a sadowsky. Would you consider a trade & cash adjustment if required. Cheers ianc
Possibly would consider, what you got?
 15.
looks gorgeous mate! Where abouts are you based?
Im based in Ireland but I could ship it anywhere using a courier. I have also kept the boxes from new guitars that I have bought so that I could re-use them for shipping basses. So the guitar would be fully protected in its case, then padded heavily and then placed in a made to measure cardboard box to protect the lot. I use an Irish courier company who deliver within 3 days to the UK and they are excellent and cheap! Paul
 16. I am selling a beautiful 4 sting NYC Sadowsky. It was made in 1994 by Roger Sadowsky himself. At less than 8lbs the bass is very light. Unlike the current crop of US Sadowsky basses this low weight is not due to the use of a chambered body but rather the fact that he used a lovely piece of light Ash with which to make the body. The bass comes with EMG Pickups which were an optional upgrade at the time. It also comes with the original Sadowsky softshell case which is in perfect condition. The bass is signed and dated by Sadowky underneath the control plate. The neck is maple and is extremely fast to play. The action can be set as low as you like with zero fret buzz. The istrument is in perfect condition apart from a small chip on the lower horn (not visible until you turn the bass over) This chip was profesionally repaired and re-laquered so its perfect now. Price £1850
 17.
Up for sale is my beloved Mesa bass head. Unfortunately it's got to go as I need to fix my car. It's a Mesa Boogie Basis M2000: 2 channels (1 tube, 1 solid state), 600 watts of meaty, punchy goodness. Each channel features its own eq, gain, volume, compression and has like, 84 different things on the back that I've never really played with. This is the best sounding amp I've ever owned even if I don't know how to use it properly! The condition is not too bad, but has seen some use. The front and back panels look in good condition and it's been kept in a Black Rat rack case most of the time I've owned it. The footboard is a bit temperamental, but apart from this everything is ok. I haven't had it serviced since I've owned it though. I will also include the rack case with this amp. £450 Here's some info from the Mesa website - Simul-State™ exists at the Vortex of tube and MOS FET technology. Simul-State operates as a power block of tube-driven MOS FETs providing lightweight, high power, two-space portability. More than a token 12AX7, this scheme is the BASIS for a whole new sound. Viewed from the helm, the pilot sees two fully evolved preamps - one tube, one solid state. Each channel includes a complete set of five rotary controls, a 9-band auto assignable Graphic EQ, Bright switches and dedicated shelving compression. The tube channel is equipped with a high-gain overdrive mode; the solid state channel includes a semi-parametric bass filter that can be selected for four or five string instruments, tuning the lows for your fundamental. Footswitching goes beyond mere channel selection: The M-2000 brings the two channels together to personalize a new sound - all yours - when you call up a blend in the Mix Mode. A pan control, front and center, determines the ratio of the preamp channels. For example, use the Mix Mode to combine the clean focus of the Field Effect Channel with a touch of overdrive Gain from the Tube Channel. Or any combination. Shelving compression per channel allows you to select the frequency and determine the ratio, thus expanding the menu of Mix Mode options. So many possibilities...get the Field Effect pumping, leave the Tube side fully dynamic and blend to taste. An FX Loop with adjustable crossover frequency lets you add effects where you want them and keep the rest of the spectrum pure. It also doubles as an output source for bi-amping. A massive toroidal power transformer supplies 12 musically industrial MOS FETs mounted in a fan cooled heat sink tunnel for 2000 watts of peak power. RMS rating exceeds 600 watts into 4 ohms. Just a few questions for ya : 1. Is the amp in perfect working condition ? 2. You mentioned the footswitch is a bit tricky, in what way? does it work ok ? or does it need a repair ? 3. Visually, are there many scratches or marks on the amp 4. How would you rate the amp in terms of condition overall between 1 and 10 Thanks Paul
 18.
No, I own it. And it's great Sorry. Cheers Mark
Youd recommend it? I have my eye on a couple at the moment. Is it reliable? Thanks Paul
 19.
Well, I'm getting close to 40 and my back is telling me I no longer need my lovely Mesa 400+ (that said, if you're after an all valve amp it's one of the lighter ones) I am the third owner of the amp (still have the original receipt) and it appears that it has been very well cared for. Very slight scratch in the paint on the right hand handle is just about visible, but otherwise it's in excellent condition. Needless to say it sounds lush  and they have recently been discontinued fairly recently so you can't get them new I have changed the drive valve for a Mullard ECC81 which adds to the smooth valvey tone and makes the EQ much more responsive. However, I can include the original drive valve should someone want to change back. Will post some photos over the next day or two but (to save you google-ing them) here's some reviews below: Mesa 400+ reviews Lexicon MX300 reviews Ideally I'd like to sell it with the Boschma black 6U case and Lexicon MX300 rack effects unit (I've only just bought both... doh!... and they are as new) and would be asking £1,000 for the lot. Appreciate it's a bit of a long-shot selling these all together, so if you are only interested in one or two of these just pm me what you think is a fair offer. In the unlikely event that you have a R500, Shuttle Max, Shuttle 6.0 / 112T combo, Barefaced Compact, or Bergantino 112ER we may be able to agree a partial trade. EDIT - I have also decided to sell my Dr Bass 1580 cab for £425 ovno (scroll down for details) I'm based near Guildford in Surrey if anyone is interested and wants to try it out Cheers Stu
Hi Stu Is the Mesa still for sale? Paul
 20.
Hi Paulie, I am in Ireland too and would be interested in this. If the deal with Beedster don't work out, let me know. Cheers, Colin
Hi Colin This amp is available if you want it. Just pop me an email to [email protected] Thanks Paul
 21.
I'll have it if it's still for sale Paulie, please PM me payment/collection details Chris
HI Chris Yes the Briefcase is still here I am in Ireland but I will ship it to your door using a good courier for £30 you can mail me on [email protected] if your interested Thanks Paul
 22. I am selling a brand new Phil Jones Briefcase combo amp. This particular model is a Ltd Edition and comes in a cream leather covering as opposed to the std black tolex. I actually won this amp but do not require it as I currently have a Phil Jones Suitacase. The amp is new, in the box and has never been used. It comes complete with a cover, set of Phil Jones Allen Keys, Manual, Boxed mains lead and 12V power lead. I am selling this amp for £350 (£459 new in Bass Centre London) Which is a good price for a brand new amp. Can forward on pics if required. Paul
 23.
I'm thinking of going down the small rig route. Probably a LMKII and 2 GS112's, but I have read fairly mixed reviews of the GS112 so far. Obviously playing with any reasonable volume through one cab is risking some kind of compromise in sound, but am I right in assuming that 2 of them should be able to cope nicely (with say for example a LMKII)? Bear in mind I play half a step down so will be throwing in the odd low Bb......... Just looking for the thoughts of anyone who owns or has owned these cabs. And does anyone know of anywhere near Manchester that stocks them?? Thanks!
I use 2 agi's with an F1 head and this sounds unreal. They are the best small cab out there. This is due to the dept of these cabs. they provide great low end. Definately the best 112 out there and two of them will give you more then enough volume for most club gigs.
 24.
What's the Homebrew like? Dan
Hi Dan The Homebrew is gorgeous. I have used numerous comp pedals before but found them to either be too subtle like the EBS or way over the top in terms of compression. This one just gives you a nice natural sounding compression, like a nice warm valve amp actually! Paul
 25. I am selling some unused pedals to make way for a new acoustic bass. I went through a phase of buying pedals for my bass set up each time I was visiting the UK or the US. I acquired quite a few over the past few years most of which I have never used. Now I am selling up. So heres what I have : Homebrew Retro Compressor : £100 (brand new in its box) MXR Dyna Comp : £60 (brand new in the its box) Tech 21 XXL Bass distortion : £70 (mint in its box) LEHLE Dual : £110 (mint in its box) Electro Harmonix Small Clone Chorus (US model 8 years old) : £50 (perfect condition in its box) Electro harmonix Bass Balls (US model 9 years old) : £50 (perfect condition in its box) I can send photos of any of these to you if you wish. Paul
