  1. In a nutshell, yup. A horrid little man.
  2. You've got to hand it to them... it can't be easy selling a stolen Scandinavian. (BTW, do you have a cat named Elgar? )
  3. Get well soon matey
  4. I don't hold out much hope for my NYE gig. Still on at time of writing, but there's plenty of time for it all to go Cory Wong yet.
  5. If that's not an "I wish I was quite literally ANYWHERE but here" face, I don't know what is.
  6. The other one went for £520! Worth it just for that neck. https://auctions.gardinerhoulgate.co.uk/catalogue/lot/fc5f905af9bd82f404796291de655e9e/63b778f7668dabe928d3800924a99077/the-guitar-auction-online-only-two-day-sale-includi-lot-294/
  7. Fixed. Yes, several well known shops, I'm looking at you.
  8. Twist and Shout - Isley Bros.
  9. Yes, I think you're right... another job for the 80 grit I think
  10. Work has commenced! Thanks all for your suggestions and opinions. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/439251-skabass-build-the-neverending-saga-now-with-new-neck/
  11. OK, well... having said I'd leave it alone, out of necessity I've had to revisit it fairly dramatically. TL;DR version: neck developed what I can only assume was a truss rod fault of some sort, leaving me with action I could park a bus under and couldn't adjust. New neck bought from fleabay, turned up with a big DIY paddle headstock. After consulting the BC massive (see attached thread), the favourite shape seemed to be the old style Aria one as per this: Anyway... just spent half an hour in the garage with jigsaw and 80 grit, and so far so good. Although that top curve has got a bit of a 'roman nose', now I look at it. Out with the 80 grit again then. Quite pleased so far though. A world of rubbing down still to come, and then the final finish is going to be the same as the original, i.e. white painted front to match the body, and the rest tung-oiled. I was really pleased with the oil finish on the first neck and I'd like to recreate it.
  12. Demolition Man - The Police
  13. They did an 8x10" combo back in the day... I'm guessing that's not quite what you're after..?
  14. These are from our Xmas gig last Saturday... punter numbers down on previous years for obvious reasons but still a good enthusiastic crowd. Apologies for some of the bass fluffs, I could blame it on the fact that I usually play these songs on a 4 string but was having to use my V7 fiver, but that's no excuse for sloppy playing Suzanne Beware.mp4 Too Much Pressure.mp4
  15. Radio 2 really is the perfect early morning listening...

...'cos if there's one thing guaranteed to get me up and at 'em, out of bed and away from the alarm, it's Zoe fecking Ball's vacuous yakking and her incessant, relentless bloody Strictly fixation.

    SHUT. UP.

I think she's alright actually, as far as they go on that station.  Plays some good tunes too.

We obviously have a different interpretation of "good"

The Thursday morning quiz is the only thing I like about her show.

Thurs morning quiz is good, but I find ZB a tad overly excitable for a morning show, which is strange as I liked Chris Evans when he did the morning show and he`s no sloth in those areas. But imo Radio 2s gems are Ken Bruce & Sara Cox (and used to really enjoy the late night shows with Huey Morgan and Ana Matronic on the way home from gigs).

  16. I Don't Think So - Kelis
  17. B for búggered, it would appear.
  18. Wow. That is quite breathtaking. But not in a good way.
  19. Funny you should say that... I did consider a G&L-esque pointy bit for a while, but I figured it would have been a bit of a woodworking nightmare waiting to happen
  20. Some folks here would give you an altogether different opinion of the owner... there was some proper unpleasantness back in the day.
  21. I've drawn a trial tracing of the Aria shape on it. Definitely liking this. As long as the decal follows the curve nicely, I think I'll go with it.
  22. Yup, but the upward bit at the end makes it impossible alas. For me, anyway.
  23. Yes, that's not at all unattractive. Although it's a bit closer to the F*nd*r shape than I'm looking for... I'm definitely starting to lean towards the newer Aria shape in my original post. The gradual curves will I think make it an easier cut than the Peavey, and I think it's a more balanced shape than the Wal.
  24. I fear that there is no way on earth I could ever live up to its coolness.
  25. New neck turned up yesterday, it's one of these things with a blank canvas for a headstock: The question is: what shape to choose? The one thing it's definitely NOT getting is a P/J/T shape. I've been checking a few out and there's a couple that have floated my boat (Wal, Peavey, Aria, see below) but I haven't decided yet. Any ideas? Sensible ones plz. I've got a custom 70s-Fender-alike headstock decal coming, so there's got to be room for that. I like the curve on the bottom of the Wal & Aria ones, as I could make it match the decal.
