  1. Jimmy Johnson's tone on this is just gorgeous. Lovely solo and not a single slap.
  2. Our dear mate Si the OldGit used to so frequently ask for "more baritone in the monitor" (always politely, needless to say) that it became a standing joke in the band. The engineer would ask what we wanted in the foldback, Dave would answer "bass and vocals in the drum fill, keys saxes and vocals in the horn monitors, and you know what Simon wants..." and we'd all shout "MORE BARITONE!"
  3. ^^This. I suspect Fender themselves would be quite astonished if a single one of those ever ends up at a gig being played to an audience.
  4. My Blue Heaven - Walter Donaldson/George A. Whiting
  5. Love the look of your set list. Alas I'm busy for too many of the dates to make it viable.
  6. Bítching primadonna idiots wouldn't last very long in either of my bands. We're all too old to suffer fools.
  7. I haven't bought a single note of recorded music this year, new or otherwise. I hang my head in shame.
  8. Fade to Grey - Visage
  9. Whitey on the Moon - Gil Scott-Heron
  10. Making Plans for Nigel - XTC
  11. Personally I've always found EQ to be the answer.
  12. Yes he does it probably doesn't help that the bodies of the old series 1 Jaydees are huuuuge they always did look massive on him, even back in the early 80s when he was full of muscles. I had exactly the opposite experience... the SMX is still my favourite pre-amp ever by an absolute mile, but I wouldn't take an S6 head if it was free.
  13. Ten Tiny Fingers - The Proclaimers [pedant]the title should of course have been "Eight Tiny Fingers And Two Tiny Thumbs"[/pedant]
  14. Saturday Night Fish Fry - Louis Jordan
  15. My mate has an old horsebox (a towed one though) that he uses to transport his PA. Cheaper than a Transit!
  16. Breakfast in America - Supertramp
  17. Would love to give this a whirl. Did they perhaps miss a trick by not incorporating a DI out?
  18. Joy: realising that Crich Tramway Museum is only half an hour down the road from my holiday let. :D

Heartbreak: finding that yesterday was its last open day this year. :(

I looked up the Heights of Abraham earlier... guess what, they closed for the year on Sunday too

Today, had a lovely walk round the Derwent reservoirs. Tomorrow, it's off to Manchester on the train to visit the Science and Industry Museum.

Starting to think I'm cursed :(

Ok, so we took a trip to the MoSI today... I particularly wanted to see the old station & goods shed, and the aerospace building.

Yup, you guessed it. Both exhibits are closed.

      FFS.

Lovely spot Rich, I'm only 40 minutes away but rarely go.  Try and take in Chatsworth if you've not been before

  19. Astronaut - Simple Plan
  20. And no. 😁
  21. I hate big muffs. Gloves are far more convenient.
  22. Just started a week's holiday in Buxton. Staying in a gorgeous apartment in the town centre. It has a beautiful kitchen, wifi, and a pool table.

I don't care if it rains all week. *contented sigh*

Stayed not too far in the summer, while I was grafting for a week in Jon Shuker's workshop! Nice part of the country.

  23. Lay, Lady, Lay - Dylan
  24. I always, rightly or wrongly - probably the latter - interpreted the difference between a screw and a bolt as being the length of the thread: a screw has its entire length threaded whereas a bolt is only partially.
  25. I know of one bloke who touched an Ernie Ball polishing cloth once, and next day he got cancer of the knob and died. He's never got over it.
