  3. I have two items of Behringear, a Composer rack compressor and a BX600 combo. They are both excellent, especially when I consider what they cost.

    In Memoriam

    MB1 😎
  9. So sad to think that I'm never going to see another post that begins with MB1 😎 again. As others have said, 59 is no age at all. RIP brother, my deepest condolences to your family.

  11. Apologies, I forgot to add the little LOL face to show that I'm not actually serious.
  12. It reminds me of the old saying, "just because you can doesn't mean you should" I'll stick with Amy Turk for my harp listening, I think.

  14. A cool idea, but the Schaller pickup doesn't have a removable casing.
  15. Does the relative stiffness or even the resonance of the cabinet wood have any bearing? Is there any advantage to be had by one particular wood -- e.g. any advantage to using ply rather than MDF, apart from it being lighter?

    Why????

My practice/rehearsal amp is a 1x12 Behringer 60 watt combo that cost me 30 quid. My band is a 12-piece including horns and whatnot, and the wee Behr is quite loud enough to keep up with it.

  18. You forgot: If cutting suddenly becomes more sluggish & difficult, stop and move panel further out from the edge of your workbench, which now has a 1" slot sawn into it.

    Pat testing

In 35 years of gigging, I've been told by two venues that my gear must be PAT tested. Neither time did they actually check, not even a cursory glance at the stickers on the plugs.

  21. A rummage around in the old spares box (more like a spares crate these days) has come up with a single Schaller J neck pickup, looks like the one pictured below. Huge great big polepieces like a Seymour 1/4 pounder, measures 13K on the meter. Yowch. I'm going to pop this big boy into the bass and see what it's like. If it sounds good, I won't need to go to the huge faff of putting in the split P. EDIT: Old pickups hooked out, big fat Schaller installed. Oh. My. GOD this thing is brutal. Just what it needed So now I’m off to the garage to rustle up a bridge pickup shaped bit of wood and some filler

  23. Actually... I really like that. I've always had a massive soft spot for Explorer-shape basses.
