  1. My musical tastes are summed up by my CD collection... It goes from Abba to ZZ Top, with Motörhead next to Mozart, but if you look closely you'll find more jazz/fusion and prog than anything else.
  2. 'Sailing By', the BBC R4 shipping forecast tune as played by the Alan Perry/William Gardner Orchestra. There is a howling bass còck-up at 1:55 or thereabouts... a very bum note followed by a bar of frantic chart-searching "where are we?" silence, and then he's back.
  3. Cheap'n'cheerful Thunderbird copy project incoming :)

  4. Minute by Minute - Doobie Brothers
  5. Just found this video grab -- this is where I wear mine. Rather fetching t-shirt, I'm sure you'll agree. Gormless expression model's own.
  6. It'd probably look a bit like this:
  7. A Ken Smith BSR5EG, many moons ago... water under the bridge now though.
  8. I'm Not Like The Others - The Lovelites
  9. 5-4-3-2-1 - Manfred Mann
  10. New York State of Mind - Billy Joel
  11. That's make-before-break.
  12. This has a toggle switch but the wiring is pretty much the same. Ignore the Jazzier aspects of the picture series-parallel-single.pdf
  13. I think you'll need a break-before-make type to avoid funny goings on. Something like this would probably suffice, they might look cheap but I've used them in a number of applications and they've always done the job. https://www.bitsbox.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=116_139&products_id=923
  14. My Wal is part of my pension plan
  15. Two things always jump out at me from that pic. This: and this:
  16. Anyone who seriously uses phrases like “receiving songs from the ether” and “dissolving this iteration of the band” should be smeared in honey and pegged out over an ants’ nest. Sad but dare I say not exactly surprising that she’s now badmouthing your entire ‘iteration’. You are far far better off without that sort of negativity, and it’s good to read that your new band is more enjoyable. Onward and upward and good riddance to up-themselves divas.
  17. Red and gold is a great combination too. My old Yam RBX was red with gold and it looked fine.
  18. Because the rest of us are dull and unimaginative, that's how.
  19. Nothing to Do - Michael Holliday
  20. Elixir stainless. Not on the list, but my choice every day of the week.
  21. Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon
  22. Fresh set of batteries in the Shuker, because (I can barely believe I'm saying this) I've actually got a full band rehearsal tomorrow :D

  23. I absolutely detested the Smiths back in the day. Thought Morrissey was a complete knob and the music was simplistic rubbish. Fast-forward to now and I really quite like them -- I can appreciate the music for what it is, well-crafted and extremely well-played (although Morrissey is an even bigger knob now though). But perhaps I'd better keep that opinion to myself, or otherwise... ...people will think I'm obviously not intelligent. 🙄
  24. Slow Hand - Pointer Sisters
  25. Perhaps remarkably for such a big band, my 12/13-piece party bunch has had a very stable lineup in the 15+ years I've been with them. We've had a tiny turnover of members in that time, mainly due to either availability issues or maternity and, sadly, one passing-away. We're all being sensible about getting together again, luckily our 'rehearsal space' (village hall) is big enough that we can all get in there and still socially-distance. There's been no turnover in my other band but then I've only been with them for a couple of years. One member is starting to get a bit frustrating if I'm honest though, keeps putting obstacles up in the way of us gigging again -- first it was covid-related, now there's an added refusal to do anything that doesn't pay well. The rest of us are quite happy to do our part to help rescue the beleaguered hospitality/ents sector by playing one or two gigs for expenses only for the first few months to help places get back on their feet, but this member is dead against it. I'm reluctant to suggest replacing this person with a dep for the few gigs they don't want to do, but I'm wary of said person getting a cob on with me -- I don't think it'd take much TBH, I already get an impression that I'm not their favourite person anyway.
