Don't know what made me think of it, but this morning my memory randomly dug up a quote from Melissa Auf Der Maur in Bass Guitar magazine:
Q: "Are you still playing Precisions?
A: "...there's no reason as a bass player to play anything else. Maybe if you were playing jazz or funk, but for heavy rock riffs the Precision is the only one that's round enough and has the attack. A Jazz is good for walking around and going dink-dink-dink...."

Incidentally, has anybody here ever managed to get their bass to actually go 'dink'?
