  1. I love the range of adjectives we use to describe the sound of our basses. So far on this thread, we've had: aggressive, airy, alive, articulate, balls, bark, bright, brittle, clean, crystalline, dynamic, dark, edge, full ranged, grit, growl, generic, honk, indifferent, lively, nasal, nasty, open, punchy, resonant, singing, smooth, snappy, thick, thin, tight, twangy, unrefined, upper-middy, warm, and woody. And yes, I even sorted them into alphabetical order. Actually yes, it IS a slow work day at the moment, how did you know?
  2. At one time, I had an ex-jukebox 7" single of Do Nothing by The Specials ('featuring Jerry Dammers and the Ice Rink String Sounds'), the label of which had Rs in place of all the Ns. It was "Do Rothirg by The Specials (featurirg Jerry Dammers ard the Ice Rirk Strirg Sourds)". Don't know what happened to it. Probably not worth a lot but it was quite funny.
  3. Ebeneezer Goode - The Shamen
  4. Prelude No1 in C major - J.S.Bach
  5. You should've been doing it in 1986. I paid £300 for my Pro 2E.
  6. I watched a street vendor in Jakarta carving these things from bits of old plank using a crappy little knife and a few files. He asked the equivalent of 30p for this one (it's about 8" tall) and seemed surprised when I didn't haggle. I'd say they're pretty good with a piece of wood

  8. Interstellar Overdrive - Pink Floyd
  9. Live Fast Die Young - Hollywood Undead
  10. For me, the classic TE sound, the one I love, isn't Mark King or Ox or Zender or any of those. It's the sound *I* got from *MY* Trace SMX head back in the day. And when I say 'in the day', I'm not talking about the bloody 80s. I couldn't afford a Trace then.
  11. Interesting that you assume everyone who loves the old TE sound is a King-obsessed slap monster. Not the case at all, I can assure you.
  12. I've just checked the website, as you suggested. Their "range of amps, cabs and combos" appears to be a range of ONE tiny amp, two preamp pedals (one of which isn't even for bass), two tiny cabs and a pair of combos featuring the aforementioned tiny amp mated with the aforementioned tiny cabs. I can't think of another bass amp manufacturer whose range is so pitifully limited.
  13. Champagne Supernova - Oasis
  14. Straight On - Heart
  15. Go To Jail - Yelawolf
  16. Give Give Give Me More More More - The Wonder Stuff
  17. Likewise. So it looks like what would have been my band's gig of 2020 which was then the gig of 2021 will end up being our gig of 2022, if it survives.
  18. There is quite literally nothing I even remotely like about that.
  19. Night Birds - Shakatak
  20. Oh good choice sir. Blow the Wind Southerly - traditional Northumberland folk song
  21. I concur. MM definitely the way to go. I know exactly what you mean about the stock bridge position being thin and weedy, my Artist bass is the same. It may as well not be there.
  22. The Ghost of You - My Chemical Romance
  23. One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer - John Lee Hooker
  24. Thunderbirds Are Go - Busted
