  1. Good toe-dippers do crop up, you just have to be in the right place at the right time. My sixer is a fairly tatty Ibanez BTB406 that I picked up pre-loved/abused on fleabay for £100. Neck is fine, plays well and sounds great, it's just the aesthetics that have taken a kicking and obviously put off other potential buyers.
  2. Lovely job. Well done indeed.
  3. I'm interested, but not sure what the 'usual Fender dimensions' are and need to make sure it will fit my spare J body... can you tell me what the heel width is plz? Ta I presume everything is as it should be -- no humps, truss rod works, etc?
  4. Oh yes, very definitely one of those 'fantasy dinner guests'.
  5. Many years back, Kiwi brought his gobsmackingly lovely Smith 5-string round to my gaff; we set up my then rig (Eden WT400 head, SWR Triad cab) in the garage, turned it well up... 20 seconds later a shelf fell off the wall. It seems even storage units are critics. In all seriousness, the tone was so beautiful that we came to the conclusion that Smith basses and Eden amps were made for each other.
  6. And here's what NP said a year later on the subject of that interview: https://rushvault.com/2011/08/29/excerpt-may-5-1979-nme-interview-with-neil/ Everyone is allowed to have different politics in their youth. In 1977, Paul Weller told a music fanzine that he and the band would "all be voting Conservative at the next election". He'd changed his mind by '79 and some years later he claimed he'd only said that to shock people. People change and so do their beliefs. I know that 2020 me shudders at the thought of some of what 1978 me used to think.
  7. I'd love a shirt, but not for twenty five quid posted. I get a nosebleed if I pay more than a tenner for a pair of trousers.
  8. From memory, EMG battery life is measured in years rather than months, so it shouldn't be too frequent a chore!
  9. Trouble is... if nobody ever joined/formed start-ups, where would the new bands come from? Up until recently I was in three bands, of which two I joined/co-formed as start-ups... one of them has now been going for 25 years and the other one finally called it a day last year after a good 12 year run. So it's not all gloom and doom -- yes many of them fizzle out before getting anywhere, but if you don't try you'll never know.
  10. Dave is none of those things (well, maybe circus master) but he would revel in that job description (It's 2020, fgs. Does anyone still say 'snowflake'?)
  11. The Soul Destroyers at Cirencester's Phoenix Festival last summer... featuring Lou giving it her lungbusting best. I apologise for my legs.
  12. I'm not sure the Sire V and P basses fit into either of these categories -- they aren't customised and they don't undercut the Squiers price-wise. And they certainly haven't failed. My V7 is a superb instrument.
  13. 21 in total last year, which isn't too bad when you consider I didn't play my first gig of the year until the 29th June thanks to my wrist woes. Diary filling up nicely for this year too.
  14. Does it have LEDs up the broom handle?
  15. Not for nothing is the hammer also known a 'Birmingham screwdriver'
  16. It's annual new-strings time for the V7. Woohoo! Elixir nickels FTW.

  17. And Nick Smith aka @doctor_of_the_bass has another 30% or so.
  18. The MTD 534's tone is gorgeous. Definitely my no.1 out of the lot.
  19. I have no problem with it and neither do I.
  20. I've still got mine! (the shirt, not the GWB).
  21. Certainly. *Ahem* Mykes, you're a clown whore. There y'go.
