  1. Funnily enough, I once went out with a girl who (ok, that's enough smut. Admin)
  2. It's not an IKEA one, but I recently converted an old wardrobe into a bass storage cabinet. It's absolutely ideal -- keeps them all together, away from dust and sunlight. I highly recommend it.
  3. I hope that doesn't slip... my son is due to get married in October. At this rate my next gig is likely to be his evening bash, IF they don't have to postpone.
  4. ...or should that be @Bluewine

OK, well partial success anyway. Fuzzdog's Mammoth clone bit works very well -- I've added an input level control which means that it doesn't freak out if an active bass is plugged into it. You'll notice the hole where there is supposed to be a Blend control... this is the bit that needs tweaking, at the moment they're not playing nicely together and I need to establish why. Until I've got that sorted, it's still working fine as a plain Mammoth/Mastodon clone. I'm dead chuffed with the way the artwork came out. I put the pic together in MS Word and then printed it onto an A4 sheet of clear LaserJet label stuff. I'm sure it wouldn't stand up to years of relentless gigging, but it's fine for my purposes.
  6. My only guitar is my trusty pawn shop refugee Eko Ranger 6. I've always said that if I was a serious guitarist, the two instruments I'd definitely have would be a nice Tele and a Parker Fly.
  7. Furloughed with immediate effect. :(

      ^^^ This.

I'm starting week 5 of 'furlough' - use the time do do things for you and your family (this does not include murdering them! :D).

You may never get another chance like this. :)

Sorry to hear the Rich. I'm hoping it's not too inconvenient for you or leaves you financially out of pocket.

I hope too that you're able to use the time to do things you'd been wanting to do for a while.

In second week of furlough at this end....having to hide the credit card from meself to stop random boredom purchases

  8. Fixed.
  9. You are more than welcome sir hope it keeps the young lady happy! I'd always assumed that Don Was played it. He's very definitely no slouch on the bass.
  10. You have a PM.
  11. It's a clever thing, no doubt. Uglier than a bulldog chewing a wasp though.
  12. At that price, I think it'll be for sale for quite a while..!
  13. NSD (New Stuff Day) -- brilliant new Hercules stand, courtesy of my wonderful daughter. :)

Excellent,   I have a few of their little foldy  ones.

  14. No no no no no no no no no. NO.
  15. Stop it. Stop it RIGHT now. You lot are doing my GAS no good at all. There's only so long I can keep telling myself that I really don't need a light relic 65 Jazz in CAR with matching headstock.

They did the conveyancing on my last house purchase.
  17. Do you count any nationally/globally well-known musos amongst your farcebook friends? Dave Swift, for example. He/they might be able to help?
  18. Only 7. What a sheltered life I have led. I recall Kingfisher Music in Fleet having a similar list. They had a sliding scale of fines with all the money going to (IIRC) a local hospice.
  19. And, being Poole, each other I expect...
  20. 01 Ever played a gig sitting down? Yes, after a knee operation some years back. 02 Ever gigged on a different instrument? I did a few gigs doing just BVs and percussion after a carpal tunnel op. It was quite nice being able to concentrate on the singing. 03 Ever shared a stage with a musical hero of yours? No, alas. 04 Any fan ever had a tatoo of your band's logo? Nope. Seen people wearing the t shirt though. 05 Ever signed an autograph in a dressing room? Who would want it? 06 Ever cried on stage? No. Came close though, on the night my dad died. 07 Ever worn a hat on stage? Yes, every gig. 08 Ever gigged with a band you hadn't met before the gig? No, and I wouldn't like to. I hate being underprepared. 09 Ever been in a relationship with a fellow band member? No and I wouldn't want to. Absolute minefield. 10 Ever played in different bands on the same day? Yes, and on the same bill too. 11 Ever had anything thrown at you while playing? Spears, grenades, angry honey badgers. No knickers yet though. 12 Ever crashed on the way to the gig? No. Wrote my car off en route to a rehearsal once though. 13 Ever left a band over the choice of set list? No. 14 Ever slept in the venue despite it not being a hotel? No. 15 Ever been supported by a band clearly better than you? Thankfully, no. 16 Ever played a gig suffering from some debilitating medical condition? Yes, see 1 and 2 above. 17 Ever been in a band where the guitarist was your favourite bandmate? Yes, twice. A blues rock trio in Swindon, and also a fusion trio with @Witters. 18 Ever played in the grounds of a stately home? Don't think so. 19 Ever injured yourself on stage? Like many others, only my pride. 20 Ever been told that your bass isn't loud enough? Yes. What a glorious day that was.
  21. Another gig bites the dust, and this one hurts... the One Love Festival in Kent, in August. Absolutely gutted. I was really looking forward to this one.

I feel your pain Rich, we've lost three festivals too. A brand new band for me as well.

I would say it gives me longer to learn the set but in reality, all it does is delay the inevitable last minute cramming and busking to a bit later in the year.

  22. You were lucky to have a lake.
