  1. Ok, I'll rephrase it. Not Everybody 'Gets' The Same Stuff. Not Everybody 'Understands' The Same Stuff. See? There's nothing wrong with you and you're not on a different planet. It's just that some people like something that you don't. If you don't like it, just stop listening to it and move on.
  2. A lot of people liked, and still like now, the 20 minute solo prog rock 'crap'. Yes you're right, it is pretty much down to personal taste. The same personal taste that leads me to opine that punk was crap. We all like different stuff, and thank god for that.
  3. Not Everybody Likes The Same Stuff. Blimey, stop the presses.

  5. Definitely going to try this next time I restring my lovely Tanglewood.
  6. Outrageous isn't it? Japan's music would have been, I hesitate to say 'nothing' but you know what I mean, without Karn's extraordinary and imaginative bass work. Imagine 'Visions Of China' with just ploddy root notes. Exactly.
  7. I have one of these, very lovely it is too.
  8. I've got pukka USA Hipshots on my Shuker and licenced ones on the Sire. They feel exactly the same, smooth and precise.
  9. D'oh. How could I have forgotten that? *slaps self*
  10. My favourite Spitting Image sketch with Brian Walden was the one where he was asking Cecil Parkinson and Michael Heseltine about all the 'rancour' within the Conservative party...

  12. Blimey, that's taking me back! that was fun, and Mo was an absolute star. What a lovely man.
  13. Not the first idea, sorry. That bass is/was my only experience and knowledge of the brand(s). In the past I've seen identical instruments on fleaBay wearing either Wolf or Mazeti branding, they seemed to be interchangeable.
  14. Crikey, that's a blast from the past From what I remember, it looked like this pic except that the body wings were a pale wood (ash? Maple?). I bought it for absolute peanuts because the 3-band electrics were totally fkd. I bought a no-name 2-band EQ off ebay, turned the switch and third pot into a passive bypass & tone control, sold it on for a handsome cash profit although I did put some hours in. Perhaps I should have gone full-on MDP and turned it into a wide-spaced 4-string for players with really big hands. As I said, it played very nicely and sounded really good, but the neck dive was huge thanks in part to its colossal headstock. I remember the build was surprisingly high quality though.
  15. I've had these three strings since the late 18th century, never used them. A little surface tarnish here and there. FREE (incl. P&P) to a good home. Take one, two, or all three.

  17. My bitsa P bass. Body was £20 off eBay, no idea what it was originally but it's solid wood and weighs as much as a sofa. Neck was from my beaten up old Squier Jazz (yes I added the decal, sue me ). Pickup is a hot Wilkinson off eBay, a tenner I think it was. Bridge was a fiver, pickguard was about 20. EMG active 2-band eq came from my spares box, had it for years and can't remember how much it was Vinyl pretend-MOP neck blocks were a fiver or so. Total cost, not very much at all, but it plays very nicely, sounds thunderous and (I think) looks great. I might add a J bridge pickup at some point. Shame it's so fecking heavy.
  18. Alas, 3k wouldn't get me either of my GAS basses ('65 YOB Jazz, Wal 5-string). I'd go to Bass Direct and the Gallery and try everything I could lay my hands on.
  19. Knowing aliexpress, when it turns up it'll look more like this:
  20. @sprocketflup was in an excellent Kate Bush trib 'Cloudbusting' at one time. Not sure if he still is? Must say I was dead jealous when he got that gig.
  21. I barely slap at all in a band context these days, but I still like it and often do it just for fun. One of the things I love about slap is that it seems to really really annoy so many people here
  22. Must be a Mac thing. They open ok on a PC.
