  1. Yup, another vote here for superglue or, as I call it, 'instant fingertips'
  2. Why is it stuff I reeeeeeally want always pops up for sale when I'm skint?
  3. Steeltown, by Big Country. It's never struck me before just how dominant the bass is on this album. Taking nothing away from the other bandmembers, or the superb songwriting and powerful (and very angry at times) themes, but Tony Butler's bass drives everything it touches. Listen to the chorus of Rain Dance for example -- the bass is everything. Just... brilliant.
  4. I like playing at the Shoe, but I'm pretty sure they only have live music on Wednesdays and Sundays?
  5. Do you mean the pickguard? Looks fine. Or am I missing something?
  6. They have Squire and Specter basses too, I see. Facepalm.
  7. There's no way they'll physically fit in the Blue Lagoon. Nice little venue though.
  8. This piece of original blurb would tend to suggest that rosewood was used for both fretted and fretless Pro basses. I would sell a kidney to get hold of one of those DI output conversion kits.
  9. Bass and vocal only... even more damn.
  10. It's going to be pretty short notice for any of the medium sized venues, most of them will have been booked up long since. Might be worth asking though, nothing to lose. Try the Fiddlers or The Fleece (both Bristol) for starters? The latter have a lot of trib bands pass through, so you might be right up their street.
  11. The circumstances leading to his hearing damage will make your hair curl. Outrageous working conditions. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-47965734 "In its appeal, the ROH claimed the artistic value of the music produced by the orchestra meant that some hearing damage to its players was inevitable and justifiable - but that was rejected by the court." Justifiable? Seriously?
  12. For anyone who, like me, enjoys the nerdy stuff...
  13. The former certainly not the latter! It only cost me £330 anyway...
  14. And now I really really really really really really really REALLY want a fretless Wal.
  15. Any of John Giblin's work from Fish's solo album 'Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors'. This is a particular favourite; the mid 2.23 to 3.14 is just genius. Proper goosebump stuff. The whole album is a bass masterclass.
  16. It's a great club to be in and that looks like a belter. Here's PB1533.
  17. Hey Zoe welcome back! Great to see you again.
  18. Agreed. The 'knock-down' construction afforded by the new CNC machined parts is just brilliant. Ten minutes with a tube of Titebond and it's done.
  19. @Jabba_the_gut could make you an amazing ultra-short scale avatar from reclaimed timber.
  20. That's the badger!
  21. One of my bands had Dani C on the set list. To be honest, I pretty much made it up as I went along and put my own fills in. It was in the set for about 5 years and not once did anyone ever accuse me of doing it wrong.
  22. I tell you what, if you tried one of Jabba's extraordinary little basses (seen here modelled by @Pea Turgh), your Wingbass would be gathering dust in no time. They really are the most amazing things and I am seriously tempted.
  23. Two things occur to me from the video. Very little slap. In fact, thinking back to the day itself, there was hardly any going on at all. If only the LBGS was so tasteful! Every time I appear in shot, I'm carrying yet another cup of coffee. I'm starting to think I might actually have the caffeine addiction I've been joking about for years..!
  24. https://www.basschat.co.uk/announcement/26-advertising-whats-going-on-where-am-i/ Worry not, grasshopper.
