  1. I Touch Myself - Divinyls
  2. In various locations across the country, railway workers are sacrificing their family Christmas time in order to perform vital upgrades to lines and infrastructure, improving efficiency and services to freight and travelling public alight. Spare a thought for these folks, up to their elbows in ballast and wiring and paperwork, as you tuck into your festive feast. I'll certainly be raising a glass to all my hardworking colleagues.👏🏻

And just in case anyone thinks I'm being sarky, no I'm 100% serious. I've done Xmas commissionings, and it's bloody hard work.

One of my co workers is working boxing day doing such work. The payment? £835!

As you say Rich, he will work bloomin hard for it.

We had one-off bonus payments for working over Xmas/NY, but only if we worked a load of shifts. Not for just one. Although we did get T+50% (or 75% for night shifts) for all hours. It does pay well, but then it bloody should.

This is the first Christmas I haven't worked it for the last 8 years.

Granted, it's not up to my elbows in ballast, I support an NHS trust OOH  for IT support, by my thoughts are never very far away from people that have to give up public holidays as part of their shift rotation.

  3. Outstanding. My favourite BJH. I saw that lineup in the 80s, first laser light show I'd ever seen. Mind blown.
  4. Saturday Night Fish Fly - Louis Jordan and his Tympany Hive
  5. I've got a great idea. How about we (and it's a radical plan, so concentrate) How about we (here goes, deep breath) get back on topic and stop this ridiculous feckin Laurence Logic arguing over pointless, irrelevant, nitpicking minutiae? Good plan, yes?
  6. My Wal Pro 2E sounds like nothing else. Other than another Pro 2E, perhaps. All my other basses sound a bit generic to a greater or lesser extent, due to their standard pickups, eqs, etc. The Wal, though, is on its own. Idiosyncratic and characterful. It doesn't get a lot of (i.e. any) gig action these days, as its soaring value means I'm wary of taking it out. Maybe this year I'll give it a whirl.
  7. Skint & Minted - Libertines
  8. More to the point, which BJH? The original lineup, the post-Woolly one, or one of the two acrimonious-split versions?
  9. Abso fuppin lutely.
  10. Happy Rush Day (21/12)!

And at precisely 21:12 it will be the Rush Equinox!

Bit of a wait for Happy Rush Year though.

  11. Breaking into uncontrollable laughter at the merest sight of the phrases "best for metal?", "waste of TIM" and "Mark King or Flea?", none of which make any sense to anyone outside these premises.
  12. It's no worse than the Sadowsky headstock, and a bazillion times better than the Alleva-Coppolo one. IMO anyway.
  13. Going, Going, Gone - Luke Combs
  14. My only substantial musical purchase this year has been my Spector Q4, and its subsequent upgrade bits (bridge, Gotoh tuners, full-fat EMGs yet to be fitted). To say I am chuffed with it is a maHOOsive understatement. It's now my go-to 4 string, in fact other than my Shuker (go-to 5 string) everything else is gathering dust... figuratively anyway.
  15. Diamonds and Pearls -
  16. I've been using the same set of Sennheiser HD280pro cans for nigh on 30 years. They're on their second headband and third set of padded ear bits, but they still sound the absolute business. I would recommend them highly.
  17. Another great ska night at my local social club. Everyone else's turn to do the long drive normally I'm the one with the 2 hour round trip. Utterly lovely sound from the SpectorGenzBarefaced trio of doom, as ever. My send/return stomp has developed a fault, so there's a little job for some point before NYE.
  18. What's the difference between The Polar Express and HS2?
One's an improbable fantasy about a train, and the other is a film with Tom Hanks.

  19. I'm trying not to, but Mrs Rich keeps showing me these houses she's finding at the other end of the bloody country...
  20. I'm lucky enough to be in two completely brilliant bands. My great fear is that if I lose them for any reason (e.g. moving out of the area), I'll never find anything again. My age is against me, for starters.

@mckendrick. Long time lurker but a supporting member. I understand he'd been very unwell.
  22. Alien abduction. Just sayin'.
  23. Saturday Night Fish Fry - Louis Jordan
  24. These Boots Were Made For Walking - Nancy Sinatra
  25. This morning's earworm, straight outta nowhere. Haven't listened to it for years. As earworms go, this is proper lush.
