I had a Maison 5 string. It was indeed a budget Bass Maniac clone. Nice enough bass, played and sounded well, but a definite cheapie. Save a few more pennies up and get a proper Tune. Here it is in action. I'd removed the Maison logo with T-Cut!

My big soul band does Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now'; the horn section play the guitar solo it really works and always goes down well.

I bought a Novation K-Station recently and it's brilliant. Big phat pharty sounds and 70s-soundalike synthy goodness. And programmable memories. I still regret selling my old Roland SH-09 back in the day, but practically speaking the K is the superior instrument in every way.

Is no headless. The octave strings are tuned at the body end, but the bass strings aren't. Still looks like fun though and yes I'd love to try it. I've often thought it'd be nice to have an 8/10 string to muck about with.

I use a Magna-Cart. Yes, one of the ones with the folding-in wheels. It happily takes my cab, amp rack case and Pod bag, which is all I need it to do.

Played with such a chap in a pub-rock band many years ago.
