  1. I joined a ska band about a week ago, had my first gig with them on Saturday. A quick 45 minute set at an indoor event, it was an ideal introduction. Had a whale of a time, loved it. They have a big following and so there was a very decent crowd, all up and dancing from the B of the bang. Set list was: The Prince 007 Gangsters Is This Love? Israelites Ghost Town Tears Of A Clown A Message To You Rudy On My Radio No No No Baggy Trousers Special Brew Night Boat To Cairo I've really enjoyed learning these songs; I was already familiar with them, as ska was the sound of my youth and I've always loved it, and it was great to finally play it. There are some wonderful basslines in there -- my personal highlights are Ghost Town and the utterly gorgeous Is This Love?. Next gig is in two weeks; a longer one this time, more songs to learn!
  2. Yes, this is my experience too. It's why I like them so much. I thought I'd give EXPs a go; I do love my Elixirs but then again I always liked D'Add nickels, so the coated ones could be the best of both worlds..? No. One month in and the buggers are already as dead as Julius Caesar, and it's not like it's been a busy bloody month either. Back on the Elixirs for me.
  3. Joined a ska band :hi:

First gig on Saturday. A quick 45 minute set, nice ease-in. Had a whale of a time!

  4. I had this problem too. I've taken to using Herco thumbpicks and they've proved to be the ideal solution. One of the things I really like about them is that I can swap between pick and fingerstyle on the fly mid-song.
  5. Fantastic I've got the text, but not the scores or mp3s. Could you add them to this thread plz?

  21. Unfortunately, the links to Major-Minor's fabulous Boot Camp series of tutorials were lost as part of the site migration. Thankfully I had saved them offline onto my PC for future reference; unfortunately (and I hadn't realised until I checked earlier) I only saved Sessions 1 to 26e. Thankfully, Stevie had saved Sessions 27 to 36, which means we've got the complete set! Unfortunately there are some scores missing from Sessions 27a to 36. Sadly there's nothing I can do about it. Sorry. Also some of the mp3s have gone adrift. 22. The rate at which my fingers are succumbing to the arthritis, I'll settle for still being able to play this time next year.
  23. Ditto heavy cabs. My days of 50kg 4x10s are well over. My old SWR Triad sounded beautiful, but remembering its planet-like weight is enough to dispel any thoughts of having another one for any reason whatsoever.
  24. I lose most of my money through magic. I get paid one day, and when I look at my bank balance 48 hours later, hey presto! it's all buggered off.
