  1. The place we used the other night (Firebird in Bristol) has a range of different bass rigs to choose from. https://firebirdstudios.co.uk/category/equipment/amplifiers/bass-amp/
  2. Agreed. I have hidden all the ACG-based comments, as they're just muddying the waters.
  3. A bit of tweakage to my JayRay fretless. As it was based on an OLP 'Ray, it was originally passive... I'd intended to either buy a Stinger preamp or make one on vero, but then I rediscovered the 2-band EQ from my old Yamaha RBX765 lurking in the spares box, so I've fitted that instead. I'd forgotten how powerful a preamp it is. Absolutely brought it to life. I love tinkering with stuff, especially when it turns out as well as this has.

Tried it out at rehearsal last night. Overjoyed with how it sounded through my main rig. ❤️

  4. I was just about to ask about lengths and then remembered that google is my friend Apparently: 'Short 33″-37″ (Adjusts one end) Long 38″-45″ (Adjusts one end) All measurements are from the inner most set of holes.' I had a Comfort Strapp for many many years and it was chuffing marvellous, highly recommended (especially at this price). GLWTS.
  5. Oh if only I had a crisp tenner for every time I’ve done that…
  6. Seconded. I always go out and bounce about with the punters during the second solo in Night Boat To Cairo, our last song. Great fun and they love it.
  7. Whereabouts are you based @basman02816?
  8. IF I GIVE HER ANY MORE CAP'N, SHE'LL BLOW!

  11. It's a homemade mute switch (hence the full name 'Shut The Fucupcakes' ) with a tuner output, and two status LEDs... an nice steady turquoise one for normal, and a bright flashing orange one for muted.
  12. Now this is the way to sell a body. Exact dimensions of the neck pocket, thus avoiding any uncertainty as to whether the neck will fit or not. Nice one. Can I appeal to anyone who sells a neck or body to do the same thing please? 30 seconds with a ruler can save all sorts of complications. GLWTS
  13. Well, I've done the usual thing that I'm sure many of us have done. Got the board sorted, happy with all the pedals and their order, sounding good and working well, no need to change anything. And then change it. The old FrankenP'd BDI21 has gone, to be replaced by the Wine Cellar. Why? I just fancied a change, is all. If I find I don't get on with it in practice, I'll have another change. The BDI was a good unit, in fact a great one in its modded state, but I was just curious to see how the Wino would stack up. I'm sure at some point this too might find itself replaced by an A7K or something, but for the moment it's fine. The only other differences are ones you can't see - switching and LED changes in the Fucupcakes and the black loop.
  14. Speaking as the owner/builder of a board that could be described as, what was it, "hard to distinguish from a pallet"? that looks fabulous. I saw one on farcebook that someone had made from some really exotic woods, and TBH this looks just as good.
  15. I'm guessing you mean this one? I have no knowledge of these basses but I'm guessing it's a DPDT toggle switch of some sort.
  16. Patrick bought my EMG pickups. Very quick and easy transaction, lightning fast payment. Great stuff.

I bought Chris' Wine Cellar. (The pedal, not the subterranean storage facility for fermented fruit beverages.) Dead easy transaction, arrived pronto in bomb-proof packaging. Who could want for anything more? Thanks Chris!

  19. This seems to be fairly typical of EBMM QC standards at the moment. Absolutely diabolical. You get better fit and finish on a £120 Harley Benton.
  20. £20 by bank transfer or cash on collection or £20.40 by Paypal, not F&F Price inclusive of delivery. Unless you've been in a cave for 30 years, you'll know about this thing. There are about eleventy gazillion Youtube videos of people demoing them etc., and they do a better job of describing it than I could. This is from Behringer's website: https://www.behringer.com/product.html?modelCode=P0294 There's also a YT video by a chap called FrankenP, detailing a modification to remove the annoying mid cut that the stock unit has. I've performed this mod and it absolutely transformed the sound. I also fitted replacement 1900-style knobs which look better, feel better and are LOADS easier to see than the originals.
  21. I have just found out that there is a place in Victoria, Australia, called 'Tittybong'.

Now THAT sounds like a fabulous evening.

  22. The less said about the interior foam for this case, the better... Thankfully, easily sorted.
  23. Can't afford it, don't need it at all, I already have everything I need. Bought it anyway. headless bass itch well and truly scratched. Series S4000 I believe, serial number is 235... I have no idea how to age it though, any ideas? I had no idea these things were so heavy though! I changed the batteries and one of the connectors fell apart as I unclipped it, so it now has shiny new battery clips but everything else is perfect. Can't wait to wheel it out at a rehearsal.
