1. Just listened to Glen Campbell's last recorded song, "I'm Not Going To Miss You". Don't try it without a couple of kleenex to hand, especially if you've lost anyone to Alzheimer's.
 2. I had one of the Maison BC-alikes, mine was a 5 string with JJ pickups and I gigged it for years. I managed to remove the logo from the body with a bit of T-Cut and elbow grease Here it is in action.
 3.
And the solo bass/vocal arrangement of Adele went down a storm.
Sounds interesting! Which song?
 4.
even 15s are as much a fashion choice as anything else, 12's are where the action is because theres so much choice of drivers for makers to use and so much research been put into the drivers and cabs.
Up until last year I used two lightweight 1x15s, but then changed to a single EBS neo 2x12 (mainly a logistical decision, plus fancied a change) and it has revolutionised my sound. No loss of bottom end but the clarity and punch are fantastic.
 5. As I said above -- if you take out the existing preamp, you're left with what is effectively a knobless passive Jazz bass that happens to have a battery box (well, 2) already fitted. In theory, it will take any preamp that will fit in a standard Jazz cavity.
 6.
Nope. Cloying. Not his fault I don't like it. He is a talented guy. I just don't think he has found himself yet.
Or maybe he has found himself but you just don't like it? The god-like Martin Taylor referred to young Jacob as "the most incredible musician on planet earth at the moment", so he must be doing something right
 7.
I have yet to learn how to play with a pick even though I should - for the songs that require it. Whilst at the LBGS this year I was offered a free pick as I went into see Robert Trujillo. When I passed on the offer the guy said "Oh, so you are not a bass player then". That alone has delayed any interest in learning.
Don't let one blinkered prick put you off.
 8. Thanks to this great thread I have been inspired to experiment with a thumbpick rather than my usual 1mm black Dunlop, and the experiment is a roaring success. My fingers don't get achey any more, plus I find i can swap easily between pick and fingerstyle on the fly mid-song, which has already proved useful!
 9. I only play 3 or 4 songs with a pick (a thumbpick actually). I use it because it seems to work well for those songs in terms of tone or feel or both. I wouldn't be averse to playing an entire set with a pick if the need arose.
 10. I'm not wild about it, I have to admit. But THIS is brilliant (IMO obvs):
 11. Oh hell's donkeys 😦 that is quite stunning.
 12. Adjusted for continentalness:
Wal Pro 2E - 4.43kg Bitsa P bass - 4.34kg Sire V7 5-string - 4.29kg Shuker custom 5-string - 4.03kg Yamaha RBX765A - 3.6kg OLP Ray - 3.97kg Ibanez BTB 6-string - 4.43kg Tanglewood acoustic bass - 2.53kg
13. The only mod I've seen mentioned so far is here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/284009-sire-v7-marcus-miller-5-string-jazz/page__pid__3039699#entry3039699 Guybrush threepwood says: "I've replaced the tone cap with a standard .047uF rather than the .022uF which came as stock. This gives the tone knob a lot more range". This sounds like a great idea and I shall be whipping my iron out later (ooer missus) to perform a similar mod to mine. I have some nice orange drop caps that will be just the ticket. Other than that, I've not heard of anyone modding the pickups or circuitry. I certainly have no intention of performing such major surgery on mine. I think it sounds glorious as it is.
 14.
Today's top peanut butter tip is to use it as a dip for twiglets.
It makes utterly brilliant mousetrap bait too. The little buggers can't resist it.
 15.
Finally a start-up that never got off the ground. A dodgy set list, two rehearsals then the singer says that her partner who was going to help obtain gigs was going to get an equal split of the money. Hmmm.
Yes, I had a similar thing in one band. The singer's wife was asked if we could do a gig where she worked, singer then told us that we'd be paying her a "finder's fee". Errm, no we won't. This singer also owned the vocal PA and announced that in future he would be "hiring" it to the band for gigs. He didn't like it much when I said that in that case I would be not only hiring all my kit to the band for gigs too, but also charging my time at standard MU session rates. Left shortly afterwards
 16.
We are all friends still. There were other reasons, time ,money , I wasn't allowed much creative input, they took on a drummer that I didn't think was right for the band , I didn't think it was going anywhere. I was with them for nearly a year, they are still going.
Fairy nuff. Definite grounds for leaving then, not just spurned affections!
 17. I've read in several interviews that Macca stopped using the Wal live because it was so heavy. In those same interviews I've never seen any mention of it being down to Mr McManus' geeky nose-poking. As for "It had, much to Costello's horror, five strings", this just makes him even more of a complete tit AFAIC.
 18.
I joined a band because I fancied the singer, when it became obvious that she wasn't interested in me I quit.
I bet they were well pleased that you wasted their time.
 19.
New Power Soul! Mad Sex, Push It Up, New Power Soul ...just great funk tracks . Just seen this video as well. Unbelievable.
Oh my gawd. How much funkier could it be? And the answer is none. None more funky. And how much fun is that band having? Sheer joy on all their faces. Wonderful.
 20. And the seller claims he's had it for 10 years, but obviously doesn't know the first thing about it. I'd say that was a pretty unusual circumstance.
 21. I'd be snapping this up if I wasn't blissfully in love with my EBS Neo-212 acquired last year. Have a bump!
 22. Who's up for this? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/284013-victor-wooten-at-the-fleece-in-bristol-28th-june/page__view__findpost__p__3038230
