SOLD - SX Jazz body
Rich replied to Rich's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
It's yellower than it looks in the pics. The camera has added a slight green tinge but it's actually a primrose yellow. Yes, very striking! The neck pocket is 63.5mm wide x 17.5mm deep. I have no idea if that's standard Fender size or not, sorry. I'll leave the bridge on for the time being in case the body sells. Ask me again in a week -
Alternatively, you could do a show on Inner City Sumo.
Or Monkey Tennis.

The credits on his early albums say it all about the man's incredible talent: "All songs produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince". I'm utterly knocked for six by this. His music is a large part of the soundtrack to my younger days... seeing Purple Rain at the flicks several times, buying the vinyl album and taping it for the car and then wearing that tape out... listening to Dirty Mind in my bedroom at home and hoping my mum wouldn't be able to hear what the lyrics were... watching Lovesexy 88 on the telly, openmouthed at the spectacle of it all. I never had a chance to see that spectacle for myself -- always hoped I would one day, but now it's gone forever. Heartbroken.
I also say anyone standing verticle playing an electric bass guitar in a rock band has been influenced by McCartney at some level whether they know it or not. Even if they've never heard of Paul McCartney. That's my take on it.
Yes we know that's your take on it, we've heard it a million times and we are NOT going down that road again. Any attempts to restart that argument, by anyone, will be removed. Also: *Rainey *Kaye *Clarke *Jaco Who on earth is 'Joco'?

My two main leads are a pair of Klotz cables I bought in 1986. Still going strong.
You're all crazy! The only possible answer is http://www.mpamp.com/products/red-cables/ "SpinX is based on a nano treatment that can bring up nano-particles on the leading material with a very special process. After the treatment process the magnetic field caused by the signal flow starts to re-organize electrons. When the electrons are re-lined so called spin-wave is achieved, which partly participates to carry the signal with the normal charge current. The effect will spread and optimize the whole signal chain – in this case from instrument to speaker output." I mean, c'mon guys, it's a nano treatment!
Exactly, it's a no-brainer really. I mean, sure, OBBM's cables might be superbly made and extremely good value, but do they re-organise the electrons? Do they partly participate? I think not. C'mon people, get some snake-oil in your signal chain!
Now that this is a porn thread... Here's my Modulus Flea - just don't mention the star bangled banner
At one time, Kiwi had a Modulus Sonic Hammer -- which I believe was the bass on which the Flea model was based. It was an absolute monster. He brought it to my place once and we tried it at some considerable volume through my rig in the garage. If I recall correctly, a shelf fell off the wall.

Always had a soft spot for the Fender Urge 1 too.
And the last one I saw sell on FEEBay (pushing 3 years ago?) went for $11,000 You can buy [s]a house in[/s] Wigan for that
Fixed

Probably my favourite signature bass... Peavey B Quad 4 Brian Bromberg sig.

Here 'tis. 1964 Höfner Artist II, cost me 20 quid off my metalwork teacher. Plays like a dog but I could never sell it. Yes those are Strat knobs and the decal should be a plastic badge... but have you seen the prices of old Höf parts on fleabay lately??? * Body £35 shipped [s]* Neck £30 shipped[/s] SOLD Part of a project that never came to fruition. The [s]neck was brand new from SX in the States, the[/s] body was purchased from a fellow basschatter but has never been used. They cost me more than this, so no offers please. The body is proper wood, not ply. No idea from which tree though, possibly alder. As you can see, it's been drilled out for an edge-mounted jack socket and a nice chunky bridge has been fitted. I'll leave these in place unless asked to remove them. I've also got the original white pickguard lurking somewhere still with the protective film on, if I can find it I'll chuck that in too. All the pickup cavity shielding was factory fitted. As it was never used, the finish is pretty much spotless apart from a couple of paint chips around pickguard fixing holes and one by the neck pocket.

Quit my band ,best decision I've made in years
If your really "in this" compromise comes into the picture. If I restricted myself to only the music like, I'd be broke and bandless. Blue
Thankfully, the 99% of us who only do this for sh*ts and giggles rather than cash can afford to be a little choosier. 😉 -
Fretless?
Back to back. It's pronounced doh-cee-doh.
Erm yes, I realise that. I'm not as thick as I look. Perhaps I should have added 'ps. JOKE' to my original post.
then dos-si-dos your pardner.
And then the Spanish bloke says, "What the hell does 'two yes two' mean?".

Root. Five. Repeat. I jest of course. I sat in with OldGit's ceilidh band on occasion and it was a lot of fun.

Perhaps this should be in the "Ive just hacked off my ears with a rusty bread knife" thread, because listening to 20 seconds of this made me want to hack off my ears with a rusty bread knife. Bass can be a wonderful solo instrument (e.g. messrs Manring, Lawson, Hellborg etc), but this? Oish.
Do you mean that the bass in the music was hitting the lamp fitting's resonant frequency?
What a great euphemism. "Hey babe... fancy popping upstairs to hit a resonant frequency..?"
My heart sinks a little every time I walk into a practice studio & see any of those Ashdown ABM/MAG amps - I just find it impossible to get a good tone out of them.
^^ This, absolutely.

For me, a Precision 'Elite' will always mean this: But then, I liked the 80s

Sire V7 5-string is my current go-to gig bass. I'm hoping that I might soon have an opportunity for my first fretless gig in over 10 years

Christ. I really hope it works out ok for you. I would say "fingers crossed" but it seems a bit inappropriate under the circumstances
