1.
A few years ago we made the mistake of taking a gig at a country music venue because the band booked cancelled. Were a 70s style rock and blues band. Nothing much of any good happened that night. The pay was decent. Blue
"That ain't no Hank Williams song!" 😄😄
 2.
I've just seen a video and I'm grinning like a halfwit and bouncing about like an over excited eejit.
Better than standing there with a mope on your face looking like you'd rather be anywhere else..! 😄
 3. Yup, another Rick vote here. Borrowed one many years ago, great sound but god I just hated the feel of it. Shame, it'd be a great sonic addition to the toolbox but I just know it would drive me mental within minutes.
 4. There are two, both of them going back quite a few years. 1) pre-EB Stingray (before 'Rays became trendy/popular) I saw advertised for £250. 2) mint condition Shergold Marathon 8-string in a Reading music shop window for £295. EDIT: now I come to think of it, that Shergold was £195, not 295.
 5. I'd just got halfway through typing a rambling response when I realized that frankly I could not be arsed. Suffice it to say that thanks to this and the other groundhog threads, I am now less interested in that ruddy band than I have ever been and Revolver is off my playlist for the foreseeable.
 6.
Even if you check out and leave, all the rooms are occupied.
Simultaneously occupied AND empty, in fact. 😃
 7. Or perhaps it's Schrödinger's hotel. You can check out any time you like, but nobody will know if you've left or not.
 8.
I just don't get the Beatles. So what if they sold 1.6 billion singles just in the US? Or 600 million albums worldwide? Or that the '1' album was the biggest selling album from 2000 to 2010 even though the band split 46 years ago. That's just trivial, piffling ephemera compared to the fact that I don't like the Beatles and never think about them except when I want to make people notice me on internet forums. Look, the Beatles were just a band and totally unimportant compared to - say - musical comedy of the kind performed by my Tiny Tim tribute band. We're huge in Trowbridge and there's nothing the Beatles can do about that.
For me, The Beatles were finished the moment they fired Tony Goggle.
 9. I regret selling my Sei Flamboyant 5. Beautiful instrument.
 10.
I regard the electric bass as a portable, easily amplified alternative to the double bass.
So strictly speaking, surely this is an 'electric bass'..?
 11. Non linear dynamical academic gossip is all very well and good, but what's that got to do with racist moths?
 12.
Wal Pro II E... bought it in 2001 or 2002 for £550.
WHAAT??? Five hundred quid??
 13. A real bumper crop having a lot of difficulty choosing between 3 or 4 definite outstanders. They're all good though, well done to all concerned!
 14.
An immense talent for sure and still very young!(although she's 18 now I think)
She's 18? Playing like that at 18? Oh man, I hate her**. **not really, but you know what I mean.
 15.
If you want to be a fret board w***er , take up guitar and leave the bass alone ,your missing the point love Don't take offence take the gate it's easier I thank you
Lid, worms, can.
 16.
If you told an orchestral musician you played bass, he or she would know EXACTLY what you meant. It's a bass. I'm a bass player.
Yes you're right. Said orchestral player would probably know (or at least think) you meant this.
 17. Happy birdy old chap..! For me, it would either be a YOB '65 Jazz in CAR with matching headstock, or a Wal fretted 5 string. Hard to choose.
 18.
(I have even been known to refer to "the guitars" when loading up the van, referring to our guitarist's and to my bass guitars...heresy, I know.)
I do this a lot too.
'Bass guitarist' = a guitarist who also plays bass IMHO
Well I'm a dreadful guitarist, so it doesn't say much for my bass-playing...
 19. Another groundhog argument My 2p is: Leo called it a bass 'guitar' on his patent application. I see no reason to argue with the man who developed our modern instrument. Added to which, 'bass' is its voice. If you told an orchestral musician that you played 'bass', he'd say "Bass what? Clarinet? Saxophone?" The term 'electric bass' doesn't work because I also have an acoustic bass (a guitar as opposed to a bass viol) So personally, I am a bass guitarist. As stated, this is just my 2p and YMMV.
 20. First bass outfit = 1964 Höfner Artist blagged off my metalwork teacher for 20 quid + bizarre 30w solid state amp built by me and my physics teacher (mostly my physics teacher ) + 1x15 cab homemade by persons unknown from the heaviest chipboard in the world. I hereby apply to join the Humble Beginnings Club.
 21.
No offense but playing for free does not seem like a benefit to me. So your band gives away all of time and effort you've invested in learning a craft, travel expense, and providing sound and lights, tear down and set up? If yes,if I ever need a band I'm calling you. Blue
It's called "doing it purely for the fun of it, not for a living". When it's just a hobby, freebie/matesrates gigs aren't such an issue. And just to head the inevitable off at the pass: no, I'm NOT suggesting that doing it for a living can't be fun too.
 22.
Lino dots? Yep, when I look along my fretboard I see a line o' dots
*holds out coat, points at door*
 23.
We had a band on before us at a charity gig where the bassist was doing a twelve bar shuffle during Rocking All Over the World by the Quo! I had to walk away and wondered how the rest of the band let him get away with it. To me it was the equivalent of someone slapping over a Beatles classic!!
Never mind the Beatles classic, it sounds like someone should have slapped HIM.
