I've got more basses than I need but less than I want Gig-wise it usually comes down to an 'eeny meeny miney' between the same two -- my custom Shuker and my Sire V7 fiver. There are certain pubs that the Shuker will never see however.

I must be really lucky -- all the drummers I've ever been in bands with have been 'that'. All smashing guys, all really easy/satisfying to play with.

Horrid scoopy tone = knob. Refusal to compromise for the sake of overall band sound = complete knob. "Too cool for earplugs" = [u][b]idiot[/b][/u] (and complete total and utter knob). What do your bandmates think? Does it get on their nerves too, or is it just you? If it's just you, do they know that it's pissing you off?

Another alternative -- take songs from an entirely different genre and make punk/indie/alt versions of them. Yootoob is full of great examples of genre mashings, they can work brilliantly well and are a load of fun. It's a good way of getting punter-pleasing songs that everyone knows into your set whilst still fitting in with the rest of your stuff.

The headstock alone is an art deco masterpiece. Sorry for hijacking the thread, but god i love these things

Most of my favourite guitar sounds come from humbuckers. But then I like jazz and fusion, so I'm probably a hopeless case For me, guitars don't get much better sounding (or looking) than something like this:
