1. I've been playing 5s almost exclusively for well over 20 years. I still have 4s and they get used occasionally, but it's pretty much all 5. Bizarrely, I found that the more I got used to playing a 5, the easier it became to switch between a 5 and a 4 or vice versa -- the more I got accustomed to that extra string being there, the less I noticed it when it wasn't. If you see what I mean.

 3.
The new wooden warwick tuners are possibly the least attractive 'improvement' or design feature I've seen. Not for me thanks
I hadn't noticed those before. On closer inspection... ewwww. Ghastly things.
 4.
Returning to the main topic of this thread, I do think that the BBC should be giving an opportunity for people to hear things that are significantly left field.
Dear Sir, Your correspondent’s suggestion that the BBC should lurch even further to the left is typical of the sort of namby-pamby politically correct elite this country is now riddled with. Why, only the other day Binky and I were discussing this very subject and we both came to the conclusion that the best thing to do with the communist BB so-called C would be to have them all shot, and start again using decent hard-working [s]conservative voters[/s] families as their staff introducing decent hard-working values and an end to the politically correct namby-pamby nonsense the B so-called BC is now riddled with. It is a disgrace that in this day and age I can no longer shoot trespassers, and old ladies are mugged in their own cupboards and our borders are left open to literally billions of unwashed layabouts from Paraguay and other european so-called countries and the BBC namby-pamby elite stands by and does nothing to stop them. There is only one language these people understand and that is a damned good thrashing. I had one every couple of hours at prep school and it made me what I am today. Yours angrily Col.(ret’d) Courtenay Bigguns-Lately, DSO NBG KFC and bar Surrey
 5.
Someone told me that Michael Manring isn't able to play over here.
He was at Manson's in Exeter about 4 years ago, so if that's true it must be a recent development.

 7.
Yamaha have their fingers in an incredible number of pies. What they do have an impressive skill in is copying.
I'm having trouble working out which basses the TRBs and RBXs are copies of.
 8. Stevie bought one of my cabs. He was happy to drive an hour to meet me and very patient with my delays! Top man, enjoy the cab.
 9.
Okay, this is for a colleague of mine. His son (14) and friends are in a band and they have been picked to play on a minor stage at a small local festival in a 'Battle of the Bands' kind of format. They have been told that they will need to provide their own PA, as last year some of the bands claimed they were not very good because of the provided PA.
After the race, an angry Sebastian Vettel said, "The only reason I was 12th is because I was given blue gloves. I would have won if they had been red."
 10. PRICE DROP NOW £35 EACH OR £65 THE PAIR. P&P included. Up for grabs are a pair of EMG 40-TW pickups, until recently installed in my custom Shuker bass. I would prefer to sell as a pair, but will split if needs be. Operationally they are perfect; physically there are faint signs of wear to the facings (which I will see if I can polish out), and the EMG logos are somewhat faded (some might say this is a good thing!). What you see is what you get, in that the wiring looms end in bare wires and the volume pots are not included. There's not a lot more I can say about them, except to include an excerpt from the EMG site http://www.emgpickups.com/40tw.html: "Inside the 40TW pickup are both single and dual-coil pickups, each with its own output. The single-coil mode is a new version of our J pickup built in the CS (ceramic and steel). The dual-coil mode is our popular CS dual-coil consisting of two coils opposite one another creating a pickup similar to model 40CS. A push/pull volume (or tone) pot allows you to change from the clarity of a single-coil to the fatness of a dual-coil. The 40TW can be used with any of EMG's tone enhancing circuits on either pickup output. This pickup uses a 40 Extended housing that is 4" (102mm)." So there you go. Flexibility and legendary clarity all in the one little package. P&P included. Not really looking for trades, would much prefer a straight sale. PayPal gift is ideal, cheque is ok and pickup(s) will be despatched upon clearance. If you don't trust me, non-gift PayPal is fine too as long as you pick up any applicable fees. 12. SKB's customer service is fantastic.
 13. Took Mark's EBS 212 off his hands earlier, and shared a coffee & a chat. Really nice fella, great doing business with you mate.
 14. As stated, they're both on hold -- one for landwomble and the other for another buyer. I am away from home so I can't arrange dely/collection till next week. I'll update the ad if anything falls through.
 15. I think the neck is definitely later than the serial number date. IIRC the early Pro basses had extra laminates in the headstock, as per the pic. My Pro 2-E has these and it's PB1533. "Early Pro headstocks featured 10 laminations of maple, mukalungu (an Amazonian hardwood) and English hornbeam. In later Pro basses the (purely decorative) outer mukalungu laminates were dispensed with to create an 8 way lamination."
 16.
like a bad Bross record.
That's all of them, surely..?
 17. Half of my entire family tree hails from Essex. I have a silver sleeper in one ear. I swear an awful f***ing lot and drop many, many Ts and Hs. I have a P bass. Am I in?
 18.
Hi all, This is the reply from ParcelForce. I emailed their MD directly. 19. I've played to audiences of 7 people (including the bar staff) and over 2,000. Apart from the bigger gig being infinitely more fun, there was no difference in terms of nerves.
 20. What a lovely instrument, and a superb restoration. I had an aching desire to own one of these back in the day, and it hasn't diminished over the years. Following this with interest.
 21. One cab now on hold. One still available, at a ridiculous bargain price. 130 quid for a loud and fantastically lightweight 1x15 cab in superb condition? it's a steal.
