1. And it's gone. Nice doing business with you Steve, I hope it serves you as well as it has me.
2. Or alternatively, 0.3 Foderas
3.
James played sitting down
Frequently too pissed to stand up, IIRC
4. Sorry, I don't. I sold the tuners, and the bridge was in a dreadful state with a load of missing screws and half the black finish worn away, so I binned it.
5. Up for sale is my '94ish Status Series 1 5-string 'thru neck' (to be entirely accurate, it's actually a set neck, but Status called it a thru-neck). The stock black hardware has been replaced with gold bits & pieces (individual bridge units, Yamaha tuners, control knobs, and Schaller straplock buttons). And I've fitted a homemade ramp, which is only stuck on with carpet tape and is very easily removed – I will take it off if the buyer requests it. A brand new battery will be fitted upon sale. Aesthetically, it's not in showroom condition by any stretch: there is a sizeable ding on the bottom edge of the body for example (see pic), and the Status logo has worn off the pickups (well, it wore off one so I erased it from the other as it looked silly). There was also a crack in the headstock (see pic) but this has been filled with Titebond glue and is no longer an issue other than cosmetic. Overall though, it's in pretty decent nick for a 21 year old workhorse. Soundwise – well, it's a Status and sounds like one. Not as glassy as the carbon models, and I think better for it. It's got the same signature sounds but more rounded and warm. It can still do bright in-yer-face slap if you want it to though. The 2-band eq is very effective – the 'bright' switch in particular is very good for breathing a bit of life back into tired strings. This bass has done me proud in the nearly 10 years that I've owned it and has never let me down, and I will be really sorry to part with it. Sadly a need for cash dictates that this has gotta go. No case or gigbag is included, sorry. Cash on collection is preferable, paypal gift is acceptable. Because of the inherent risks with couriering guitars, this is purely COLLECTION ONLY, ideally from Chippenham/Swindon. I'm prepared to travel within reason, Reading or Bristol for example. PM me for other location queries and maybe we can arrange something. But I will NOT courier it – I've seen far too many horror stories (OldGit's Hohner, for example). Sorry. As you can see from this original ad, the street price was a fairly substantial £899 when new in 1994/95 (the equivalent of £1560 now!!) so I'm asking what I think is a bargain price of £450.I'm after a sale only, so no trade offers please. Please give it a good home.
6. It's not been a good week for rhythm section players, has it?
7. http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__2107353 Because preventing the sale of all Rickenbacker basses is the only way to ensure that no copies of Rickenbacker instruments appear in the marketplace. Presumably the other sites like Talkbass have not been threatened with legal action by John Hall, in the same way that we have.
8. Excellent stuff, thanks chaps
9. A mate of mine has just got rid of his old HH VS Bassamp combo -- I was chatting to him about it and he said he would have got rid of the HH ages ago because it’s far too heavy to carry around, but he really liked the “Valve Sound” feature it had which sounded great with his fretless and allowed him to pretend he was Jaco . He runs a much smaller G-K combo these days and was wondering if there are any FX/stomps/whatever that would go any way towards emulating the sound he got from that HH valvesound control? Any ideas?

11.
I have to admit, I'm with ubit on this. I grew up listening to hip hop and the modern crop of rappers just can't hold a candle to the old MC's. The only one I think is even halfway decent is Eminem, at least he writes stuff about life, instead of just "aren't I awesome? I have loads of money/girls/cars" I get very annoyed when dj's on the radio go on about JayZ's 99 problems. I want to shake them and tell them to listen to the original version! (1993, IceT, Home Invasion). I'd rather hear the raw stuff of IceT, KRSOne, NWA etc than the over produced commercial stuff around these days. I think most rap these days, at least the stuff you'll hear about in the media, is very much in the same ilk as Simon Cowell et al, manufactured pop for the masses designed solely to make money, not music.
This. He might think he's some sort of visionary genius, but compared to the likes of Public Enemy he is a cultural, creative and intellectual minnow.
12. One Nickelback song vs. every other Nickelback song
13. Do you mean the title track and if so, any particular bit? There's 16 minutes to choose from (and it's all genius)

15. This isn't my actual bass, but mine's identical. A '64 Höfner Artist II, bought from my metalwork teacher for £20 in 1982. My second bass was a Columbus Jazz, just like Kev's but without the P pickup.
16. I have a very lovely Tanglewood acoustic bass guitar, but I find it a bit challenging to play as there's nowhere to anchor my thumb. I'd like to get hold of a small, discrete thumbrest but searches for such an item are coming to nought. The sort of thing I have in mind is as per Jonas Hellborg's Wechter (see pic below), but made of rosewood to match the back/sides/f'board of my bass. As I said, the smaller the better really, no more than about an inch long. The idea would be to attach with double-sided carpet tape or the like, rather than screw or glue. Does anyone know of such an item available anywhere, or failing that of a UK luthier who would be able/willing to knock up something suitable for a reasonable cost? Doesn't have to be local, just a good artisan who won't take 6 months to deliver.
17.
You started it.
And I've stopped it.
18. Reopened at sellers request
I am unfortunately selling my MTD Kingston KZ, due to not having time to play much anymore and i don't see the point in having a great instrument go to waste. As stated its a 5-string, and is currently set up in a E A D G C tuning and has recently been restrung with Elixer strings. No signs of cosmetic damage and all electrics are fine, practically brand new due to generally light use. Cheers guys, John
19. I have an HA3500 head that I use as my chuck-it-in-the-car rehearsal (and occasional gig) amp, had it for years and it's been brilliant. Plug'n'play is good but I like having all the control that the HAs give you. Makes it easy to deal with an odd-sounding venue.
20.
Mark at Bass Direct just confirmed it on Facebook. SWR and Hamer basses going too.
I'm not too bothered about Hamer (although I know some folks will be), but killing SWR and Genz? BA$TARDS. I adore my Shuttle 6, and I've loved all the SWR gear I've ever had too.
21. Hipshot extender key, instant drop D/C/whatever tuning at the flick of a lever. IMHO, the single best mod you can make to a four string bass. This is a direct replacement for a SCHALLER M4S tuner, so if your tuners look like this it's the one for you. This was fitted to my Wal bass for many years, but I'm now returning it to its as-built spec. 40 quid posted to you, squire.
22. Quite frankly, I don't know where to start...
