1. Anything with 'Yamaha' on the headstock. Unbeatable VFM in my umble pinion.
2.
In my old band, we had a three song Rolling Stones block - Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Women and Start Me Up. I would tune out, daydream for a bit and then tune back in 10 minutes later to find my hands had played the entire section without any input from my brain at all. I cannot communicate how much I hate the Rolling Stones.
Oh thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you. I was starting to think I was the only person in the world who hates them as much as I do.
3. I picked up my first five about 20 years ago and apart from a couple of oh-bum-i-wanted-to-play-a-G-but-that's-a-D moments early on, I took to it like a duck to water and never looked back. I occasionally play a 4 and have no problem swapping between the two at all.
4. Totally brand new 4-string 45-105 set, never removed from pack. £16 posted.
5. Blimey mate, are you an ex-Dink now?

7. Please, not the 23rd/24th as I'm probably working that weekend.
8. Anything with the word 'YAMAHA' on the headstock. Unbeatable VFM.
9. Well i hope you lot are bloody satisfied. Since i first read this thread, every time ive gone anywhere near a bass ive been instantly launching into Rio. I guess its all good ghost note practice but its turned into a total bass-earworm. Just as well i like the song or it'd drive me mad!
10. Three speaker cables, mains lead and two guitar leads all live in a kids-PE-kit type bag (50p from charity shop) which travels in the back of the amp rack case. Two more guitar leads, my homemade Bass Pod cable-snake and spare Pod power supply all travel in the front pocket of the Pod carry bag. All cables have velcro ties, everything is disturbingly neat
11. What are the major differences between an OLP 'Ray pickguard and a Musicman one? I've seen in a fewe places that a M/man guard will not fit an OLP, why is this? Can it be made to fit or are there horrid gaps or summat?
12.
Ofcourse this was met with cries of "Everything below 100W sounds cr*p"
I actually laughed out loud at this. What a pair of halfwits.
I have spoken to them this morning and politely but firmly explained to them what I think about their attitude and rigs They said some rude things back to me
See my previous comment re: halfwits. Watch their bookings dry up as every soundman and pub landlord in the area realises this too. I do not blame you one bit for walking. Best of luck with finding/forming something more sensible!

14. The bassline on the new Maroon 5 single is lifted wholesale from "The Bed's Too Big Without You". Totally stolen.
15. http://www.loewenherzbass.com/english/manual.html Uglier than a bulldog chewing a wasp. Ocean waves and lobster claws, my arse.
16. The single most useful mod you can make to a 4-string bass IMHO. This is the BT2 model, so it’ll fit US '67-'82 Fender P & J Basses (including reissues) and the Geddy Lee Jazz. I installed this on a J project I was building, but said project has hit the buffers. Consequently this has never seen any action. The marks on the tuner lollipop are just fingerprints and smears, and will be polished off before I post it. I will partly disassemble it for ease of packing. Fixing screws included. Cheapest new one I can find online is £66 plus P&P, so how does £35 posted sound? 17.
I didn't realise anybody had posted rude stuff on their blog, that's a bit unnecessary. But bringing it up as a topic for discussion here seems like a reasonably thing to do, and others expressing their opinions is what happens on a forum.
This, absolutely.
18. Hi, Could you separate out the amps and guitars from this ad and advertise them in the correct marketplace subforums plz? Keeps stuff a bit tidier, plus you might find you get a better response that way too. Thanks!
19. Korg Pandora PX4B > Sennheiser HD280pro. Plug the iPod into the Korg if I'm playing along with something, or into the PC if i've had to slow down or pitch-change the original song using Audacity (it's easier than using the Aux Pitch on the Korg).
20. Oh gawd blimey Sorry chaps, I have it IBT sent it to me, I was going to pass it on to Gust0o and then completely forgot. All sorts of sh!t been going on in my life and it just slipped my mind. Copious apologies, I will dig it out and send it on.
21.
"Yes Mr Wonder, all of your band are stick thin super models. Especially the bass player."
This, we like OP, I commiserate. Speaking as a fellow 'substantialite', I can hazard a guess at how you felt when you were told. Like almost everyone else has said, you're better off out of that shower of Judas-bastards.
22.
Nomination for the BC site motto! (translated into Latin anyone?)
Enim faciunt, quaerentes musicam et eris semper vincere. EDIT: damn, Norris beat me to it. I like the idea of 'do it for the music'.
23. The Beat, supported by The Alarm and Aztec Camera. Hammersmith Palais, 1983.

Welcome back to the fold! The first question is, what sort of sound are you after? It's a bit like peanut butter... do you want smooth or crunchy?
