1. 5 minutes in, you'll be kicking yourself for not doing this 20 years ago Best of luck and have a great time!
2.
headline band turned up an hour and a half late for the sound check
Did they have an excuse, or could they just not be arsed to turn up on time?

Shuker Custom

My old fretless Jaydee Roadie had/has an unfinished ebony board... in the 20-ish years I owned it, I never did anything to it other than polish it occasionally. Absolutely no cracking and very little marking even, despite the fact that I always used roundwounds. It's brilliant stuff.
4. Having said that I was definitely up for this, it turns out that I can't make it. I've had to rearrange a couple of my weekends with the kids, and as a result 10th/11th is now one of them. I'm really sorry about this, I was looking forward to coming along and bringing the Shuker/Wal/Genz/Nemesis lurrve Hope you guys have a great time, and a million thanks to you John for all your organisational work. Gutted.
5.
LSD soon turns you in to a twat IME ;-)
Don't worry Dave, if Si started disappearing up his own butt, his missus would soon bring him back down to earth she's great I do a lot of BVs with my other band and it's great, I really enjoy it. The one thing I still cannot do though is talk and play... we do the band intros during one of the songs, and when I introduce the singer I have to stop playing and it sounds a bit daft.
6. CK, if memory serves me correctly you had a Groove 5 at one time..?
7. Cracking stuff! I particularly like the way the keys player just wouldn't shut up I'm going to have to track down some of these guys' work.
Watch Joan Hickson as Miss Marple.
Eek. No thanks, I'd rather listen to a Manowar CD
8. This Thread Is Meaningless Without Pics
9. I have a wood Series 1, one of the supposed 'thru neck' ones (it's actually a glued set neck).
10.
Not that I agree with you Bilbo but when did nostalgia neccessarily become a bad thing?
Well, nostalgia ain't what it used to be.
11. You got that for 6?? Fackin bargain!
12. Link added to sticky index Major, have you ever thought about putting this stuff in a book?
13. If there was an amp: my Shuke 5 No amp: Tanglewood acoustic In an ideal world: I'd get Mr.Shuker to make me a 6-string before I went
14. I've got two Klotz leads which I've had for nearly 24 years and are still going strong. They appear to be indestructible If it was me I'd buy the bits and make my own (I do for patch cables), but for off-the-peg leads I'd go for OBBM or Klotz.
15. Sorry, and surprised, to hear about that... like escholl, I've had dealings with GPR in the past and they've been great. This does seem quite out of character, hopefully if you take it further you'll get a more measured response. +1 for chguitars on fleaBay. They are excellent.
16.
Quote from OP: "I need something that is very light and no effects like pandora"
OK, I'll rephrase. Korg Pandora is worth a punt if you pick one up cheap and switch the FX off. I use mine a lot.
17. Korg Pandora is worth a punt if you can pick one up cheap. I use mine a lot.
18. The word I'm looking for is 'phwoarr' Are you leaving both ashtrays on?
19.
I think they utterly wipe the floor with Rotosound
if you ask me, that ain't difficult
20. I've been reliving some of my childhood by listening to the 'Best of Thunderbirds' CD... contains all the original Barry Gray Orchestra recordings for the themes and incidental music for that televisual masterwork. Fantastic stuff, beautifully composed and arranged. Is there any other TV theme quite as stirring and evocative as the Thunderbirds March? Not for my money, there ain't
21.
As my preference is for a bass with two pickups, early 80s I was using a Wal (unfortunately can't recall the model - two pickups, front-mounted control plate with battery compartment, five pots and selector switch -
That'd be a Pro 2-E, like mine
22. I wonder if his approach to the bass would have been quite so unique and left-field if he had received an extensive musical education?
23.
Does anyone know how much input any artist actually puts into a sig model. I've heard stories where the builders look at what the artist is known for, build a few variations and then give them to the artist to say which one. So the artist really just gives the okay put my name on that one rather than state what they want.
I seem to remember reading an interview with Mark King where he said that a guy from Alembic arrived one day with a load of wood samples and asked him which ones he liked, and that next thing he knew there was suddenly a Mark King Signature model on their catalogue Obviously it's just my memory, and so this could be total bollicks.
24.
I don't have a problem with signature basses at all, as long as you're buying the bass in it's own right, and not because of the signature on the headstock (or fretboard in Stings case).
This. I'm with the OP. It does pique my curiosity when a new signature instrument is released, but only because I am interested to see what the player has specified -- is it a completely new shape/everything, or just a fancy paintjob on a standard instrument and a grand added to the price? I would consider buying a signature bass, if I played one and liked it -- for example, if I was in the market for a new Jazz I'd definitely try the Geddy and Marcus models. It would have nothing to do with who the signatory was.
25. When I first read the title of this thread, my initial thought was that maybe the Prince song had turned out to be fatal
