My old fretless Jaydee Roadie had/has an unfinished ebony board... in the 20-ish years I owned it, I never did anything to it other than polish it occasionally. Absolutely no cracking and very little marking even, despite the fact that I always used roundwounds. It's brilliant stuff.

Having said that I was definitely up for this, it turns out that I can't make it. I've had to rearrange a couple of my weekends with the kids, and as a result 10th/11th is now one of them. I'm really sorry about this, I was looking forward to coming along and bringing the Shuker/Wal/Genz/Nemesis lurrve Hope you guys have a great time, and a million thanks to you John for all your organisational work. I've got two Klotz leads which I've had for nearly 24 years and are still going strong. They appear to be indestructible If it was me I'd buy the bits and make my own (I do for patch cables), but for off-the-peg leads I'd go for OBBM or Klotz.

Sorry, and surprised, to hear about that... like escholl, I've had dealings with GPR in the past and they've been great. This does seem quite out of character, hopefully if you take it further you'll get a more measured response. +1 for chguitars on fleaBay. They are excellent.

I've been reliving some of my childhood by listening to the 'Best of Thunderbirds' CD... contains all the original Barry Gray Orchestra recordings for the themes and incidental music for that televisual masterwork. Fantastic stuff, beautifully composed and arranged. Is there any other TV theme quite as stirring and evocative as the Thunderbirds March? Not for my money, there ain't

It does pique my curiosity when a new signature instrument is released, but only because I am interested to see what the player has specified -- is it a completely new shape/everything, or just a fancy paintjob on a standard instrument and a grand added to the price? I would consider buying a signature bass, if I played one and liked it -- for example, if I was in the market for a new Jazz I'd definitely try the Geddy and Marcus models. It would have nothing to do with who the signatory was.
