1. This is a big, bbbbig favourite of mine.
2. SD Curlee, blimey there's a name from the past alright. I remember trying one once, it had two P pups if I remember correctly and was Stanley-Clarke-Alembic in shape. Crap balance but sounded pretty brutal. EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S._D._Curlee
3. LOVE that drum track, one of my favourites. So simple, yet perfect.

Acoustic Bass

Stuart, I'm going to shift this to the Bass Guitars section as it's a pretty specific question.
5. The best ABG I have ever played by a mile was the Washburn AB34. Great upper fret access, lovely fast neck, really comfortable. Discontinued. Damn.
6. 260 quid or so, apparently. Headstock spoils it for me.
7. Enough already. This is well past silly.
8.
None... isn't the whole point of having a small Class D amp is that it's small, light and easy to carry around in a tiny gig bag? Why would you rack it?

To protect it, put it in a box with other useful gear (tuner, comp etc). The real point to me is they are very lightweight.
Yup, this is precisely why my Shuttle head is rackmounted. Permanently connected to the wireless, mains distribution, etc. And the advantage is that the whole rack is now only marginally heavier than the empty case was! Now... would everyone like to chill out a bit please? :-)
9. And they cause impotence in hamsters. I like to colour-code the LEDs, e.g. I put a green LED in a green Bad Monkey pedal and a blue LED in my blue Boss bass chorus. EDIT. Speaking of Boss pedals, why do they use such pathetic little LEDs? Those red 3mm things can be almost impossible to see on a brightly lit stage. I fitted a 5mm one instead, impossible to miss!
10. Hmm, I thought the balance was OK. I was particularly pleased that Nigel Planer used the 'ner-wobbum' pronunciation. I was astounded when it said that Saxon are still touring. I sincerely hope that Biff Byford sounds better than he looks.
11. I'm not generally all that wild about Bics, but I'd definitely give that one house space! Nice.
12.
HAHA I think I might well buy one of these - http://www.thomann.de/gb/fullers_unilock.htm
Brilliant! Oh bugger.
13. 15 watts? You were lucky. I played a 7 hour gig with a 1.5 watt fag-packet amp once. Try telling the young folk today that, and they won't believe you.
14.
If you are headlining, expect to provide the backline.
If I am headlining, I will expect to provide the backline if it's arranged in advance. Otherwise, unless I know you personally or you are a good friend of a good friend, forget it. This has been my policy ever since the last time I lent my rig to a support on the spur of the moment... went in to watch them halfway into their set, only to see the EQ clip and output limit lights on my Eden head pretty much permanently illuminated.
15. Note to all: I'm going to knock the 'MY NEW' off the title, so the thread appears alphabetically under Y. Hope nobody minds.
16.
Thats Talkbass, you can tell by the American flag. Now this is Basschat HQ,
That's the best laff I've had in days. Thank you
17.
he won a gibson sg signed by someone from evanescence, daft bastard actually wiped the signature off
Thus reducing its value by about £0.00
18. Bands who don't bring any backline... ...should immediately return to their cars and bugger off home, unless they have agreed well in advance to use another act's gear. That's it.
19. And Stuart Adamson, rest his soul too -- back in the early days of Big Country, both he and Bruce Watson were SG-slingers. Damn, they were a good band. Sorry, back on topic!
20. Given your lack of available practice time, I reckon the best thing to do is to get hold of those mp3s and listen to them over and over and over and over and over and over again. Best of luck for tonight, we expect a full status report!
21. There's no such thing. 'Best' is in the eye of either the beholder or the ego, depending on whether you are bestowing the title or claiming it. Jaco often claimed to be the best and reckoned it wasn't bragging if you could back it up... a lot of people would argue that he never did.
22. Great, well I now have simply massive GAS for a custom 5-string Jazzer in Candy Apple Red etc. and it's all the fault of this thread. Thanks a bunch.
23. Well I'd go straight to Jon Shuker, but then again I'm biased From your list:
So, my options so far are: Overwater Sei (if I can afford it) Roscoe Fender Custom Shop (again if I can afford it and if they actually make high end 5 stringers) Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 5 H or HS (yep, these are well within budget....around £1300-£1400 new) Lakland US (again if its within budget...Im guessing these are more)
...there's no question, it's gotta be Sei or Overwater. Bearing in mind your geographical whereabouts, definitely Overwater. Their J basses are lovely.
24. I don't like plain white plates much, but white pearl on the right bass (such as the aforementioned CAR/LPB) is sex on a stick. Ashtray-wise, I'd only want the neck one.
