1. Excellent! I look forward to hearing about it and seeing the pics after you pick it up. In August.
2.
For some reason or another i always had Dee Murray down for that one [ and i am proberly wrong] Anyone know who it actually was? So far we have... Pino, David Paton and Dee Murray. Help Garry
Pretty sure it isn't Pino. Wrong sound for starters, he was still Stingraying all over the place back then. Is it just me, or is there some slightly wobbly intonation in places (always sets my teeth on edge when I hear the song)..?
3.
FWIW, I don't much like the look of the Fly guitar. Yet I really like the look of that bass. And I'm a stodgy old Fenderhead. Weird.
Weird innit? Exactly the other way round for me. The Fly guitar is gorgeous -- if I was a guitard, I'd have a Fly and an old Tele and that'd be it -- but the bass just looks too chubby in the butt. If only the production basses looked like Steve Swallow's prototype... now that's proper wacky
4. I have two TWs on my Shuke, they're nice pickups BUT be aware that the single coil output is quite a bit lower than the full humbucker output. I'm actually thinking of getting mine changed for Delanos when I've got the necessary luncheon vouchers. EDIT: love that body shape.
5. Typical ain't it? It's only just down the road from me (well, sort of), but I don't want/need it.
6. Trace rig for 300 sovs? Strikes me as a pretty good deal. BTW I am in no way affiliated with the seller. Just thought I'd better point that out!
7. If you're on a tighter budget, the Artec SE2 may be worth a look.
8. Another +1 for Abba. Cheesy pop for the most part, but brilliant cheesy pop. For my money, Dancing Queen is the perfect pop song. Charlotte Church's 'Call My Name'. Great bass, with a nice fat farty synth part in the verses and that slap'n'pull in the bridge parts. The song is utter dross though.
9.
Steve Lawson's got the right idea.
I think he tried to fire himself via text once, but then he agreed to meet himself at a neutral pub to try to iron out both his difficulties. It's all sorted now.
10.
Unlucky...... At least it was done by a person!!! Scarred for life???
No, I'm doing OK. I'm finding that I'm becoming less and less reliant on the Jane-shaped voodoo doll, and the dartboard with Duncan's gurning face on it. And it's only taken 29 years so far. Jane and Duncan actually got married eventually. Some years later, they got divorced. When I found out, I chuckled a bit. I'm going to Hell for that, aren't I?
11.
It's as bad as the old chestnut of being dumped over a text in the old days of school.
Ah, not like it was back in my school days. We had none of yer fancy speaktext or interwebnet. No, back then she got her mate to come and tell you that you were dumped, only for her to immediately start going out with bloody Duncan Bright instead, just 'cos he was better at sport and stuff, yeah well thanks a bunch Jane. Errm, apparently.
12.
It's a Dave Lee Roth/Van Halen tribute band If you can't appreciate why wigs and spandex might be integral to the look, then maybe you are best out of it.
Well yes, up to a point. If yorick had been playing the frontman role, then yes the wiggy spandex thang would be fairly vital. But Michael Anthony wasn't exactly known for his flowing tresses or glittery frocks. Billy Sheehan, now there's a different kettle of mullets.
13. I could do without the 'kick' at the tail, but I like the way the top horn goes to a point. Yeah, I could definitely live with it. Thinking cap on re: name.
14. I used Status Hotwires for yonks, then tried Warwick Reds for half the money and found that they were definitely better than half as good, in fact I think they are as good. So have used them ever since. Cheap strings aren't everyones cup of char I know, but then again neither are Elixirs.
15. Very nice. Now pop over to the Introductions area and say 'hi'..!
16. 'Men In Black', Will Smith. Sampled (i.e. utterly stolen) from 'Forget Me Nots', which is infinitely the better tune. Also, Gary Numan's 'We Take Mystery (To Bed)'. The song is very average, but Pino's bass is gusset-dampeningly fabulous.
17.
Obviously, anyone using the term "Dawg" should be shot in the face.
Unless it is immediately preceded by "Deputy".
18.
The term chops has been around for decades now.. not new or trendy in any way
Agreed. Not new. Not trendy. Just REALLY REALLY stupid.
19. Rich

I'm off to NZ.

May I be the first to say I hope you had a good journey and that the weather's nice in NZ? Like I said on the phone, I'm gonna miss ya and I hope it all works out well. I'll fax you that beer later.
20. It depends what's broken. If you can get it open, it'll be a nightmare of surface-mount boards inside, very fiddly and totally user-unserviceable. +1 on trying Korg for repairs, to be honest.
21. Lakland Darry Jones 5, I've played a couple and they're stunning (PTP's especially). If you can stretch a bit, I'd say this...
Shuker! You won't get any better for £1,500 IMO.
...but obviously I've got to say +1 to this too! It depends if you want to go along the custom route really.
22.
My band have just got a sponsorship deal with a K-Array KR200 system, not cheap but extremely compact and loud as hell!!!!!
I can confirm the compactness and general loudity of said PA. It's barely noticeable compared to traditional PA stacks. Our frontman has built up a substantial and very effective PA using EON-style active cabs. He has quite a range of subs and full-range ones, so he can do anything from one cab a side for vocals to a full-on 6k rig (and of course they work v.well as monitors too). If you can stretch to them, the powered cabs are a very good route to take.
23. Damn. No tour dates anywhere near Bristol. Damn damn damn damn damn damn.
24. In bassist terms, it's a sort of halfway clicky bit.
25. I've always been faintly amused by the use of the word 'chops' to describe one's ability. And especially by phrases like "his chops are happening". When I was a lad, 'chops' were something you got from the butcher. And if your chops were happening, it meant your tea was ready. I remember when all this were fields, and so on.
