1.
?? I used one of those Zooms for about 8 years and it was never noticeably noisy. Are you sure you are all using it properly?
Nope, I'm too thick to use an FX pedal.
2. I've got one of those Zooms too. They're noisy buggers all right. I said they're NOISY. No, NOISY. Ahem. How about using an A/B loop thing to give you a total hardwired bypass of all the pedals when you're not using them? If you use any of them a lot more than others (limiter?), you could put it outside the loop.
3.
But a stupid wing, at that. Harrier jump jet? Penguin?
'81 Ford Capri offside front..? EDIT: actually, a truly stupid wing would be a rear one off a '59 Caddy Coupe de Ville...

Consider this Focusrite Trakmaster Platinum..? It's intended as a vocal preamp/channel strip, but they are also widely used as studio bass preamps. It's got a simply brilliant compressor and a nice usable eq, and the sound is pure & clean. What comes out is what went in, only louder
5. Another ramp fan here. I fitted a temporary one to my Status to see how I'd get on with it. That was about 4 years ago now and it's still there so I had one built into my Shuker.
6. I've tried to like Les, really I have. I had Seas of Cheese for ages, and tried hard to enjoy it. But no. Drives me up the wall. Still, vive le difference eh?
7.
..... thoughts/comments?....
Looks kinda cool. A definite retro vibe, well much more so than the original anyway. How about a bridge ashtray too..?
8.
If it was me I wouldn't even consider going back there a third time.
I reckon it's +1 for that unless you really need the gig. He's rodgered you twice, and is therefore perfectly capable of doing it a third time. Bollox to him. And spread the word.
9. I always knew this was going to be a stunner. Was I wrong? Nah. Beautiful. The view of the back is worth the admission price on its own. Mate, welcome to the Shuker Owners' Club Maple Neck Chapter SOUND SAMPLES. NOW. Please.
10. I would say it's pretty much the ones you say you're using... octaver, compressor, chorus and distortion. A good synth pedal is a worthy addition. It'd be my one of the four, as my compression is in the rack.
11. Thanks for that Nick. After listening to some of the sound samples, I'm going to have a bash at the Maillet vibe mod, and also perhaps the rotary colour control mod on the 'Electronics For Guitarists' page. Will let you know how I get on..!
12. The first two that spring to mind are Phil Lynott using a phaser on Lizzy's 'Dancing In The Moonlight' and Anthony Jackson's classic flanged bass part on the O'Jays tune '(Working For) The Love Of Money'.
13. For me it's bass -> pedals -> amp, with the compressor sitting in the amp's FX loop.

THE GAS THREAD

Blimey, so that's 3 of us then. If you're GASsing for radios, can I GAS for this?

Digitech Bad monkey

I have the SFX Monkey too, it's splendid. Not a terribly bright sound though, I agree.

THE GAS THREAD

I was relatively GAS-free, until I saw Ieuan's gorrrrrrrrgeous Sandberg California JM5 last weekend... Either that or a Lakky DJ5 in white would do me fine.
Ok, i'm wierd, I like art deco and I like fancy woods. Not sure if they sound any good but after all it's just GAS.
Oh yes, those I like. I'm a sucker for art deco too. I so nearly bought a late '20s Italian walnut & birdseye maple bed frame on fleabay last year, hideously expensive but my god it was utterly beautiful.
What is that amp? I've never seen an Ampeg like that before.
It's a 'flip top' B15 combo. See Motown for details
17. +1 for the Qverb, marvellous piece of kit. The chorus in particular is one of the most adjustable & versatile I've ever used. I also recommend the Zoom RFX2000, although it's more of a recording tool as you can only use 1 effect at a time. Its reverbs are glorious.
18. I was googling for Small Stone pedal images earlier when I stumbled across this rather interesting mod. Anybody seen this before? Or better yet, tried or heard it? I'm thinking of applying it to my Russian Stone. The US circuit board is different to the Russian but it's dead easy to find the caps in question.
19.
Yes, he's Hartke's new big shout!
Wow, that's a hell of a catch for them!
Why do bagpipes make me want to pull my teeth out ?
The definition of a gentleman is someone who knows how to play the bagpipes, but doesn't. One of my personal Vic faves is still 'Me & My Bass Guitar'. Never fails to get the ol' toes tapping.
20. If for any reason Dave can't do it, gimme a shout.
21. I tried one of the Slider straps a few years back, when I was having back problems. It didn't work at all for me. It took the strain off the shoulder, yes... but it changed the playing position completely, forcing the bass further round my body so that my fretting hand was having to reach almost behind my shoulder line. Doc/osteo/chiro/whatever, immediately. And the best of luck to ya.

SOUL DESTROYERS

Come along and boogie your botty off, and have a laugh at the prannets on the stage making eejits of themselves. And don't forget to say 'hi' to the bassist
23. It's the 'Herculean neck' thing that tickles me. If he thinks a Jazz neck is chunky, just how slim does he like them??
Poncy Southerners.
Gittish part Midlander/Southerners
24. I think it has the potential to be very good. Will be interesting to see how it develops.
25. Oh yes, it's a superb pedal. It knocks the living sh*t out of the Boss octavers in terms of tracking and, well, everything. Joe, that'd be much appreciated. Could you drop me a PM with your address? Thanks.
